Gospel Songs

I am trying to think of some good gospel songs that I can listen to or CDs that I can buy. I am mostly into slow gospel songs because I think that I get more into those kind. This wedding song on John P. Kee Not Guilty Cd is soooooo beautiful. I think that it would be wonderful to play at an wedding but at what time? I thought during lightning the candles, but my friend think it would be nice to play when presenting flowers to the parents. If you know what song I am talking about what do you suggest? If you have not heard it check it out.

Greetings, I heard a song on the radio one Sunday and it inspired me to tears (literally). http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Anyway, it is called Can't Give Up Now by Mary Mary. Hope it inspires you as much as it did me.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind

I found, for the past 3 YEARS http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif, that the Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir Live in London CD or tape is da bomb. If this says anything about how good this tape/cd is----I have worn out THREE copies of the same tape already. On top of that, I have the video tape of them live in London. My CHILD, 7 yrs. old, knows the songs as well as I do. There are songs for encouragement and songs for reflection. This tape/cd would definitely be an asset to your collection.

Nubian 04-04-2001 04:10 PM

Anything by Yolanda Adams is really uplifting, but I strongly recommend
"Open up My Heart"
from her most recent CD. It helped get me through a really awful experience recently.

I absolutely love a track called "I Got It" on Mary Mary's album. It's kind of contemporary but I'd call it gospel, and also that song with Destiny's Child.

I have the old Clark Sister's tape with all of them singing "Jesus Is A Love Song". I also have heard Karen's version by herself. They're both very beautiful.

I also have this gospel tape of Little Cedric and the Hailey Singers that my sister and I recorded off of our grandparent's record way back in the day. For those who may not know that group consist of a teenaged K-Ci and JoJo and some of their family members. It's so funny because my sister and I used to go over our grandparents and play that record all the time. And the album cover had Little Cedric (K-Ci) on the front and we used to think he was so cute. Imagine our surprise after Jodeci had been out for a while and we heard them say that they use to sing gospel as Little Cedric and the Hailey Singers. We instantly went over to my grandparent's and pulled out the cover and sure enough. It was a young K-Ci and JoJo's name was listed on the back for vocals. I still listen to the tape to this day. It's a great gospel album.

Now I need some help from you all. When I was in college, I was in a gospel choir and there was this beautiful song we used to sing that I am trying to find. I don't know if this was the name of the song but the chorus was "He's awesome" and I think the bridge went something like "Lord we love you...we really really do...just for being God...and we thank you...from the bottom of our hearts...and we'll never stop (and "stop" would be repeated over and over, softer and softer)" and then it'd return to "He's awe--awe--awe--awesome...yes...yes". Please help:(. I loved this song.

DreamfulOne 10-26-2001 07:54 PM

I don't know what song you are talking about; however, there are some nice projects out now.

Blessed be the name
Blessed be the name
Blessed be the name of Lord
The Cherubim and the Seraphim
Cry Holy, Holy, Holy
I sing praise unto thy name oh most high.....................

Prayer of Jabez by Donald Lawrence (I heard it yesterday @ a gospel competition and someone else recommended it today but I did not realize they were the same song.)

If I Can't Say a Word by Karen Clark Sheard

Any others?

Gina1201 04-07-2003 12:01 AM

A gospel song that I like I cannot remember the name nor who sings the song. Our gospel choir at school sings it all the time and I love it Part of the song goes:

For the battle is not yours, it's the LORD's it's the LORD's

I also still love BeBe and CeCe Winans' CD called Heaven. My favorite tracks are: Heaven, Celebrate New Life, and Hold Up the Light.

Other gospel songs that I like (older but still good): You Are You the Only One, Melodies from Heaven, and Jesus Paid it All.

"Rebirth of Kirk Franklin"

Donnie McClurkin "Live From London" And I understand his new album is about to be released.

Thanks CT4. I thought that was the title but I also thought someone told me that there was a group or choir that sang it instead of an individual person.

My Kappa friend just inquired about this song so I downloaded it: Praise Is What I Do by Shekinah Glory Ministry.

FABULOUS!!

I enjoy songs by any of the Caravans (Shirley Caesar, Albertina Walker, etc.) and Inez Andrews, classically speaking.

When I need a jolt of contemporary gospel, I pop in Kim Burrell's "Everlasting Life." "It's Not Supposed to Be This Way" (a song about marriage) sistah does some preachin'!

Smokie Norful

Smokie Norful is a member of KAY. . .

I have only listened to these songs so far, but like them:

Still Say Thank You
The Least I Can Do
I need You Now
Same Sad Song

I have also been recommended Byron Cage who is also a member of KAY. I will have to seek him out.

Byron Cage CD is nice. We are actually singing a couple of his songs for our spring concert.

I can't think of the artist, but I also like the song called "It's My Time." I am so feeling that song.

Chorus is as follows:

It's my time to be blessed
It's my time
It's my time for deliverance
It's my time

Lead: The devil tries to stop me......

Vamp
I'm ready for a blessing, It's my time
Repeat and modulate

delph998 04-15-2003 01:28 PM

I didn't know that Smokie Norful is a Kappa. He is related to members of my church! I love "I Need You Now." My Aunt is a member of The Valley International Christian Center (their choir sings Praise Is What I Do). At present I am bumpin'

Ricky Dillard's old CD...I LOVE IT SOOOO MUCH!

Excelsior-Soul Interpretations (Minnesota's Own)

Youthful Praise-Awesome God

My brother's music (he's great!)

My jam right now is The Presence of the Lord is Here. That song puts me on 10!!!!!!!
