What do they need Soror's and Sistergreeks for?

Dionysus 10-20-2004 04:06 PM

I guess I should have included that info in the initial post, but from what I understand, they're doing a spread on D9 sororities in their spring issue. I've been told that the writer of the piece is Greek (don't remember which org) and has permission from each org's HQ to run it. I'm sure that once those that are intersted contact Nana, they will receive all the info they need to decide if they want to participate.

I'm not sure what type of magazine you think Suede is, but I assure you that no members of the D9 are being asked to show their a$$es and there will be no monetary compensation involved.

For those who don't know, Suede

Is a pretty good new mag by Essence Communications for the 18-34 demographic. They did a tasteful layout of church women for their debut issue.

I have a copy, although I'm six years out of their age range. Now if Essence would do a mag for 35+ AfAm women who are bigger than a size 8, I'd be very happy.:p

I think that if Suede (or any mag for that matter) focused on women 18+ that were bigger than a size 8, then I'd be really happy too!!! :D :p

Lookin' good, y'all

I'm not sure when this issue of Suede is coming out, but here are the photos that will be included in the sorority spread:

Then it's probably my computer, which has been acting up.

Now I can see them, and they are beautiful pictures. Suede did a good job with the layout. I'm not surprised that they are nice; I recall the churchgoing women's layout in the first edition.

How splendid! And, do my eyes deceive me or is that an Omega Phi Beta in the last picture (all the way on the left)??

Kloud9 01-28-2005 12:11 AM

Very interesting. I'll be looking for this issue :)

No, your eyes are correct. The caption does say that she's a member of Omega Phi Beta. Can't say that I've ever heard of them.

I was trying to figure out whose organization hand sign that was. I've never heard of Omega Phi Beta. Is it a BGLO?

preciousjeni 01-28-2005 01:00 PM

From the National Website (http://www.omegaphibeta.org):
Quote:

Welcome to the National Website of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated; a Latina-oriented, women service organization comprised of prominent collegiate and professional leaders.
Example of the handsign:

looking quite good, ladies.

abaici 01-30-2005 01:48 PM

Beautiful and very tastefully done.

TheEpitome1920 02-02-2005 12:26 PM

I just canceled my subscription but I will buy this issue.

skeeliteful 02-02-2005 01:44 PM

Does this magazine come out on a monthly basis? The last issue I saw and bought has Eve on the cover? Bamboozled, do you know when this issue will be on the stands?

Lady of Pearl 02-08-2005 07:10 PM

I received the March issue yesterday, the magazine seems pretty ecletic;)

Kloud9 02-09-2005 10:14 PM

I saw this issue (it's the March issue with Zoe Saldana on it) the article is rather small and it really only focuses on the dresses. One Soror had on a dress that was worth nearly 20K  . They did list the names of the ladies and their respective orgs/schools. Don't know if I'm really feeling the actual magazine though.

I think it was a true fashion layout. In the first issue, they did one of women who are involved in their church. They didn't have much more than the clothes in that either.

I'm older than the target market for the actual magazine. I wish someone would do a mag for AfAm women over 35 and who are not a size 8 or smaller, but that's truly wishful thinking.

I have to do a Spelman shout-out. The Delta in red was made in Eta Kappa at Spelman.

DELTABRAT 02-14-2005 03:49 PM

That blue dress is slammin.'
