Alums, do you still wear your letters?
This includes car decor, keychains, etc.
|
Sure do! I have many t-shirts that have "AXO Alumna" on it for all the Recruitments I participate in. I also have a set of letters from when I was an active in 1990!
In fact, I was volunteering as a facilitator for AXO this past weekend. I was wearing my letters and a collegiate asked me if I was an alum! LOL :D It cracked me up! |
You can bet your life on it!
I wouldn't let my boyfriend leave the Jeep dealership without putting my ZTA frame where it belongs. :D |
I donated most of my T-shirts to the younger actives... so they could have lettered stuff.
I do wear my sweatshirts a lot and when my family members are the recruitment chairs, I'll get a rush shirt for that semester. But that's about it. |
I don't have letters on my car or anything, but I do wear my t-shirts and jackets occassionally on the weekends. I'll eventually give them up and have my mom make my t-shirt quilt.
|
I have letters on the back of my truck.
I have tons of t-shirts, but dont wear them all that often. Have the letter shirts, but only wear them when I am doing something for the undergrads - philanthropy, etc. |
i do have the liscense plate frame on the back of my car and a wooden tiki hanging from my rear view mirror... but this car definately doesn't have all the phi sig stuff on it, like my last one did.
as for wearing letters. i wear my lavalier pretty much everyday and that's about it. i hardly wear my shirts or my sweaters... :( and no, i haven't given anything to any of the actives... i'm a lil selfish, and so i'd rather buy them something new than to part with something of mine. (haha, at least i can admit it!) |
I have a few Alumna shirts that I wear & I still have one car decal on my car but other than that I don't really wear my letters anymore.
|
I wear some party tshirts to the gym but my keychain has my letters on it. I just don't want to look like I'm 20 years old and decorate my room with beer cans and wear letters all the time.

I do wear a windbreaker with a small X & Horshoe embroidered on the left front. It's a tad more subtle.
Trust me, the last thing we need to promote positive PR is me running to the grocery store in a pair of wind shorts and a Chi Omega jersey! P.S. I'm 43, so no one thinks I'm still a collegian. |
Yep! I sleep in one of my APO Little 5 T-shirts, I wear my letter sweatshirt occasionally, I have an APO keychain, and I'll occasionally wear my rescued badge. :)
|
My letter shirts have been relegated to "around the house" wear and alumnae/chapter events. I don't want to be seen as someone who is 25 and can't let go of college, so I wear my sorority apparel in appropriate settings.
|
I have a windbreaker that I'll wear occasionally. I also have some old party shirts that I wear to the gym but that's it. Like adpiucf, I don't want people to look at me like an alum who can't let go.
|
yes! I have a plate frame on my car, and I wear my letter sweatshirt quite a bit. Of course, I am a 2003 graduate, so people still think I'm in college (if that- everyone thinks I'm 16!).
|
Yup...lots of letters and wear them when approriate ;)
My car license plates are vanity plates that say "Phi Mu" (a gift from Mr. Sageofages when I bought the car). Key ring, checkbook cover AND checks, alumna decal in window, and I carry my needlecrafts (crochet, knit, cross stitch, or quilt) in a great pink Phi Mu bag. They are all great conversation starts.... "you are a Phi Mu? Wow...I *was* an XYZ in college" I use it to remind them membership does not stop when you leave college ;) and encourage them to get involved in a fun way with their alum organization. |
Still have my license plate holder, the decal on my car, my keyring, not to mention 3492837429384 t-shirts, shorts, and sweaters. I also bring my convention totebag to work everyday!
|
Well since I'm often around the school and community I try to make it a habit to wear letters to the gym or other casual situations... it helps raise the awareness and image with both students and staff.
|
I have a bunch of shirts that I wear for exercise and sleep.
If I'm around the house on a chilly day, I often wear one of my sweatshirts. That's about it... |
It depends upon the situation. I wear a lavalier a lot, and am currently having a ring I got on ebay sized. I've learned that using a pen with letters on it while traveling will often start conversations with other Greeks.
In my house, I have our Creed, some pillows, and an afghan in my media room; my kitchen has ADPi potholders and refrigerator magnets (and of course, the ADPi Cookbook!). In my car, I have a little lion on the rearview mirror. |
Absolutely!
I don't see it as not being able to separate from college life, I see it as being proud of my organization and trying to promote it any way I can. |
I still have my Tri Delta license plate cover (only illgeal if you get caught!) and a Tri Delt and Alpha Theta Phi key chain on my heating controls in my car.
I still lug my Tri Delt tote bag around with me. The thing holds like 4 five inch binders- greatest gift I ever got (thanks nationals) As for shirts, around the house. Although whenever it rains, I break out the windbreaker, cause I still haven't gotten a "big peoples" trenchcoat for rainy weather. And my pendent. Its a delta with 3 dolphins around it. And my ankle bracelet in the summer. |
Yes, I still do.
I have several t-shirts, two sweatshirts and a long sleeve blouse with my letters. I also have a keychain with my letters on them. I used to have a lavalier, but I lost it. I would like to get another one soon. |
I graduated in June, but...
I still wear my letters ALL the time. Well, they're tattooed on my ankle, so I don't really have a choice. But other than that, I do. I have a KKG windbreaker that I love to wear during the fall and spring, and I have a few t-shirts and sweatshirts that I break out when I'm not working. But I still wear my badge whenever I dress up, and I have a lovely necklace with the Kappa crest engraved on a gold medallion (a gift from Mr. KKC) that I never take off.
When I took my vows, I promised to be loyal to Kappa for my lifetime. To me, part of that is displaying my affiliation with pride. If others think I'm having trouble letting go of college, they obviously don't know what being a Fraternity Woman is all about. |
I have a few photo frames around the apartment, and I wear the shirts to work out or to do fieldwork. Other than that, I gave most of my big stuff (letter shirts, etc) to my littles so they could have that sort of thing.
|
bumper sticker, vanity license plate, and yes, I wear AGD shirts. I also have several Convention tote bags that I use regularly. I wear an AGD pinky ring a lot of the time too.
I am an AGD for life, it wasn't just a college thing. (My squirrel collection is proudly displayed in my buff and green family room too... wasn't planned, but I realized when it was done that it was buff and green.. whatcha gonna do?) Dee |

Although I'm *almost* 25, I still remain VERY active with ADPi as an alumnae, and in my experience, I've met MORE people who (as they put it...) *were* Greek in college by wearing my letters/recruitment shirts/lavalier/badge than I would have ever imagined! |
Only at the gym...I'll wear mixer and rush t-shirts when I work out, but that's about it.
|
I still have a sticker and license plate cover on my car (but thinking of replacing the license plate cover with a geeky one from work). I wear a few of my nicer shirts to work, and t-shirts to the gym or to play soccer in. I just try not to wear it all the time so I don't look obnoxious.
|
I wear my lavalier all the time. I have a sticker on my car. I carry my bag with me quite often. It's easy just to throw things into and go. I have a hoodie from Hayride last fall that I wear often. I love it. It is warm and does it's job up here in MI. I wear my shirts around the apartment. Within the next year, I will be making a quilt with all of my shirts.
|
I've got an SAI mousepad and pillow (small, for lumbar support) at work. Sometimes I wear my SAI bracelet or lavalier.
|
In other words, so you guys think wearing your letters after graduation is kids stuff?
|
I still wear letters
|
I have one full set of letters still that I most recently wore this past weekend at the chapter house and back at my school for Homecoming. I also have a fleece pullover with a small KKG embroidered on it, otherwise most of my date party and philanthropy shirts are worn around the house or at the gym or were used for the t-shirt quilt I made my chapter my senior year.
But, I still use my KKG mug I got on bid day, I still use my KKG paper and notecards, I have a fleur-de-lis keychain, a classic silver bracelet with my letters engraved on it, an antique crest ring that I won off eBay, a antique KKG charm bracelet that I won off eBay, a blue and blue bathroom full of fleur-de-lis and irises, random "Kappa" decor scattered around our house and I'm currently wearing my badge (my original badge, not the antique one I rescued) in honor of our Founder's Day. I continue to remain active as an alumna and very proud of my Kappa affiliation and want to show that pride however and whenever I can. |

I still hold strong to my sorority way of life, but it isn't something that takes up 24 hours of my day, as it did in college. Nor should it. I don't see anything wrong with this. Being a member of a sorority taught me the importance of being part of a group and working with the group. So I dress appropriately for my audience. I encourage any graduate and alum of a GLO to do what is best for them. |
oh hell yes...i still have my phi kappa psi letters on my car, and when i get my new truck in a few months i have this phi kapa psi alumni sticker i am putting on it

I've basically done the same thing with AXO as my undergrad. As much as those years were awesome, I just don't need to stroll around town with my college logo. As we get older, some of us have different ways of showing pride in our affiliations. |
I wear my badge daily...it looks really great on my suits and with pearl earrings. Most of my t-shirts are AOII, so when I am casual, I am usually wearing an AOII shirt.
I also wear either a lavalier or my AOII award charm on a necklace. :) Silver |
I wear my AOII signet ring daily. I also wear my AOII lavalier often. I've got a few tees I do wear when the opportunity arises. I'd love to get a polarfleece type top with AOII alumna embroidered onto it one of these days.
|
I don't really have any letters anymore, but wear a necklace w/a round gold pendant w/the Delta Zeta crest engraved on it to work every single day. I also have a homecoming t-shirt from a couple of years ago that I wear on weekends (it has DZ - LXA on it), and a DZ Surfing Sisters Sweatshirt, which is embroidered, so it looks a little more "grown up."
Don't get me wrong-if I had any stitched letters, I'd wear them whenever it was appropriate...and I'm 34 years old. I also have a decal on the back of the mini-van that I use to tote numerous children to scouts, brownies, baseball, etc. |
Sure do!! I still wear my sorority letter shirts and I was also a little sis to one of the frats on campus and I still wear those letters too! Sometimes the kids at my Head Start ask me "what does that say?" so of course I tell them.
