OBviously it was consenting. Their getting married now just shows we wasted lots and lots of money putting her in prison.

I agree that if it were a 12-14 year old girl it would be different. In our society women need to be protected sexually even from themselves.

But generally adolescent boys don't need to be protected from having sex with good looking women.

ewww. gross me out...words cannot explain how sick this is. i wonder how his past relationships have gone. i just do not understand it. i do not know what i would do if the guy i was dating used to be involved with his teacher when he was 12. it would definitely have a negative impact on other realtionships. maybe he thinks that the only woman he can be with is his former teacher.

Actually, he was already stepping out when she was in prison. He had other girlfriends he was banging so you know in a few years, he'll leave her for someone closer to his own age & end up being some sort of deadbeat. This is just gross.

So here's my thing about MKL and her student fiancee, which is kind of the same reason I feel bad about strippers:

I think we all agree the kid was abused. What she did to him when he was 12 was wrong.

I think it's arguable that this kid is different, now, because of the abuse that took place when he was 12. Social workers see patterns: childhood abuse often makes people make poor decisions later in life.

Which is why I always feel bad for strippers. I read a study on strippers in Chicago a couple years ago and about the percentage of them that reported childhood sexual abuse. It was ridiculous.

MKL definitely should not have acted on her feelings or anything that happened, but from all accounts I've heard he was the one who made the initial advances toward her.

I'm not saying she should have had sex with him, but this is quite a bit different than a 40 year old male raping a 12 year old girl, for the obvious anatomical reason.

nope, I was an overworked, underpaid ice cream scooper. Though some people I worked with were pretty damn frappy happy.

Well...seeing as how his grandfather passed away this morning, nothing is going on. I am currently passing time on GC trying to take care of little details for him & family so they don't have to worry about small things like laundry, eating, etc. I figured GC would be a good distraction for me while I wait for the laundry to be done.
