Rodney Dangerfield Is Dead at 82

NOOOOOOOO!!!!

That sucks.

I wonder if he and his 20 year old wife ever got a chance to get a hold of that lady who claimed she cloned the first human. I remember seeing on ET that he and his wife were interested in cloning himself. Scary.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rodney Dangerfield, the goggle-eyed comic famed for his self-deprecating one-liners and signature phrase "I can't get no respect," died on Tuesday at age 82, his publicist said.

Dangerfield, who became a pop culture sensation with a string of broad film comedies starting with "Caddyshack" in 1980, died at 1:20 p.m. PDT (4:20 p.m. EDT) at the UCLA Medical Center, where he had undergone heart valve replacement surgery in August, spokesman Kevin Sasaki said in a statement.

I don't know why, but this really made me puddle up. I hope he gets his respect now. :(

It gets to me too. Even though I never met him, he somehow seemed like a great-uncle to me. He reminded me of my Grandfather Irving and my Uncle Al.

I'm sad. :(

I was thinking the SAME thing! It sucks that he died, but I just never thought he was that funny. He got REALL weird in his old age too...cue the ET video OTW referred to.

He's one of the funniest human beings that ever lived - this is not up for debate.

Mad respect, Rodney.

"A woman called the other day and said come on over, nobody's home. I went over. Nobody was home."

"My mother never breast fed me; she said she liked me more as a friend."

"I come from a stupid family. My father worked for a bank; he was fired for stealing pens. In the civil war, my great uncle fought for the west."

"I could tell my parents hated me - my bath toys as a kid were a toaster and a radio."

"I went to the doctor because I swallowed a bottle of sleeping pills. He told me to have a few drinks and get some rest."

"My wife looks like she came in second in a hatchet fight."

Funny guy. RIP.

Rudey 10-06-2004 11:13 AM

This is incredibly sad.

But in a way it's something he wanted badly. I know he led a very sad life. He was on Howard Stern once talking about all the awful things in his life and how he just wasn't afraid of dying. I hope he's in a better place.

He was funny up to the end. When he went in for surgery he said something along the lines of "If all goes well I'll be here for 3 or 4 weeks. If things dont go well I'll be here for 3 hours"

Very sad...may he rest in peace

rainbowbrightCS 10-06-2004 04:51 PM

I thought he was so funny, but I cant beleive he was 82, he really looks good for his age. I would have thought mid-60's.
