ALL GLOs - Omega Chapters
I'm researching Omega chapters. Does your GLO have one? If so, where? If not, is it reserved for the deceased or simply removed from chapter naming?
I LUVZ Y'ALL!! |

Alpha Sigma Phi does not use the Greek letter Omega or any combination of Greek letters ending in Omega to designate any of its chapters. It is reserved to respectfully pay tribute to deceased members of our Mystic Circle; members who enter Omega chapter are usually listed by initiating chapter and year, followed by Omega and the year of death. Example: Louis Manigault, Alpha 1845, Omega 1899.

University Of Kentucky.
That is Pi Kappa Alphas omega Chapter. But Alpha Sigma Phi's method of using the omega chapter is a very honorable concept and i even think it is cool. |
Delta Zeta had an Omega chapter at the University of Oregon, but it is currently inactive.
In case you're interested, when one of our sisters passes away, we say she enters the Flame Eternal. |

Alpha Sigma Alpha
Our only single letter chapter is Alpha. We had a few other single letter chapters before our reorganization in 1914 but they all died out or were absorbed by other sororities.
We had our Omega Omega chapter (our double letter chapters are our oldest ones) at San Diego State but it is presently dormant. We do not have an Omega chapter to denote deceased members or any other chapter that does so. |
Sigma Delta Tau's Omega chapter was chartered April 27, 1946 at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY

Phi Sigma Sigma's Omega Chapter was at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO - Chartered in 1935
It's now an inactive chapter. I don't think we have any special designation for deceased sisters... but I think it's a very nice gesture for all the GLO's that do! ~Beth |
Sigma Lambda Gamma does not use Omega in any letter combination for chapter designations, and Omega chapter is reserved for our Sorors who have passed on.

Phi Mu's Omega chapter was located at Iowa Welseyan College. I believe the chapter is now inactive.
