Idea from DZ and DG:

Rose = Something Good that happened to you this week
Bud = Something You're looking forward to in the next week
Thorn = Something not so great that happened in the last week.

We can all be thankful for something, excited about something, looking forward to something, and maybe a little mad at something. So here's your place to vent if you need to, share happies with your sisters, and reveal what's going on in your life that makes you smile!! Can't believe we didn't think of it sooner!!!

So I'll start:

Rose= I got PAID!!!!
Bud=Next weekend, I'm going on a trip to sing in Tennessee.
Thorn= My mom's been sick this week, and man is she being a pill. "When momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!!"

Violets=Starting to work at an ADPi Alum's church nursery on Sunday :D
Bud=Seeing some old friends from home. :)
Thorn=Boys have frustrated me all this week!!!!!!!!!:rolleyes:

I love the idea for this thread, but can we consider a name change? Both DZ & DG have roses for their flowers, so I think that's why they used that title. Maybe ours could be violets, buds, and thorns (although violets really don't have thorns...)???

Violets - I got the internship!!! I'm so excited. Putting in my 2-wks notice was by far the best feeling in the world!

Buds - I get paid on Friday!

Thorns - one of my project groups is seriously driving me nuts :(

Violets - I became an Auntie!!! For the first time
Buds - I'm starting to do better in school
Thorns - going to the gym

We did "Violets & Weeds" when I was in school...

That's sooo cute! I love it!

Violets: I got my emergency certification paperwork in the mail and was able to drop it off at the district so I can get my contract!!!

Buds: I get to meet SHANNAN and ANDREA next weekend!!!!!!!!!!

Thorns: one of my kids "foster" moms is being a royal pain in by bleep. (For full details feel free to pm or email me).

My chapter did violets and weeds also...

Violets: We came up with a great design for the library that is being built that I am the archivist for...

Buds: I get paid friday...

Weeds: I have been sick and running a low fever yesterday and still today... So I am stuck not doing much...

Honey maybe you can change the name of the thread to Violets, Buds, and Weeds....


Violets- I am finally understanding my position as ME Advisor!! Soooo much to learn!!

Buds- I am completely off from everything on Sunday!!

Weeds- I have to work on Saturday (even though it is my choice to work at a part-time job on Saturdays-- it is just hard to work a full-time job 5 days a week and a part-time job on Saturdays. Working 6 days a week is tough!! But don't get me wrong-- I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY PART-TIME JOB!!)

Violets - I finished my policy test!!!!!

Buds - I get to meet peanuttu this evening!!!!

Weeds - I'm not sure how I did on my test.. I either did really good ... or really bad :o

Violets- I finished my living room painting and it looks awesome. The room really looks great with the new color and all the Halloween decor I have up lol

Buds- I get to see Bri next weekend for 5 days and this weekend I get to be lazy and do NOTHING

Thorns- My landlord is selling the house I live in and the one in front and this stupid real estate agent is being a pain in the butt. I know shes trying so hard not to, but its so stressful to make sure the house is spotless so these people can trapse in and out of it looking at it and looking in my closests and cabinets and then noone ever buys the stupid place. Tonight is another showing and they are making me bonkers. I had to leave work early because well I am anal about my house. I want people to think we are very clean, not slobs like my hubby so I am on a cleaning frenzy and about to drop. I hate this. If I ever buy a house and then decide to sell, Im moving out before I sell so people dont have to interrupt my life. :( GRRRR

Violets: Despite much craziness, I got my license to carry renewed!

Buds: I rarely, if ever, drink soda pop - but I had a Red Pop for lunch!

Weed: My sister-in-law's father had a stroke yesterday, and he isn't responding to any medication or therapy. :(

Violets: Ok, kinda long story, but there is this guy that I really like. He is my really good friend's brother in law (her hubbie's brother). Anyay......He came with her on Tuesday to see my volleyball team play (i'm a coach) and on the way home he told her that he really likes me!!! He's almost 11 years older than me though, so it's kinda crazy, especially when you consider that my mom is only 17 years older than me. :eek: Anyway, he's awesome and I'm excited, hopefully he'll be asking me out soon, we'll see!!
Buds: I get to see him tomorrow!!!! And I get to go play on the lake all day Saturday.
Weeds: My mom made me really mad yesterday.

Violet=I got paid today!!!
Bud=I am going to the zoo this weekend!!
Weed=Parent-Teacher Conference today, ughh!!

Violet: I hit the lottery for a little over a $100!!!! (they say there's drinking Irish & gambling Irish, and I don't drink much...!)

Bud: I thought of a way I can bless a woman I know that she'll love and won't cost me a lot of money or more time!

Weed: My sister-in-law's father passed away this morning, and NO ONE was with him at the time. :( When we heard last night that no one was going to stay with him all night, I was going to go up to the hospital to be there (yeah, I know, the Irish and their death watches!), but as I'm not immediate family, the hospital wouldn't let me. They're having a memorial service, instead of a viewing & all.


(edited to add: I keep careful track of how much I spend & lose on lotteries, etc. Last year, I came out $412 to the good. This makes me $96 to the good. I don't allow myself to get out of control!)

Violets: getting to know my Alphas sisters better this week


Bud: getting to know my Diamond Sister better

Thorn: my dad is causing problems. my parents are divorced but they still work together and they have been arguing a lot lately. i hate hearing about why they are so mad at each other.

violets: i had sushi last night, my fave.

buds: possibly visiting the delta chapter when i go home sometime in the next few weeks.

thorns: i gained even more weight, the doctor doesnt know why i havent had a period in two months, and i might have inherited my mother's thyroid problem. oh boy.

Violet: I got to celebrate my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary today!

Bud: I'll hear whether or not I've been admitted to my graduate program!

Weed: My mom's been sick for the past week, and I'm afraid I'm going to come down with it! :( (ETA: My grandmother also just fell off a stair and cut herself with her glasses, so she's on her way to the ER to get checked out)

buds: I cannot WAIT for next weekend!!!! It's going to be sooooooooo much FUN!!! I also cannot wait for next week... when I should be starting my new job/internship :D

weeds: I'm so tired.. it's ridiculous. I had the worst night last night...hardly got any sleep, felt really sick and I woke up early. I guess on the bright side, I got woken up by one of the cutest puppies in the whole wide world :)

Violets: I had a wonderful weekend with three of my best friends, one of them being a sister, one being my fabulous boyfriend!

Buds: This coming weekend is my trip to sing in TN....I'm looking forward to it!

Weeds: Today I had to eat lunch by myself at work, which sometimes I don't mind, but I wanted some company today....at least I have a really good book right now....

Violets: Getting to see my brother and sister-in-law this weekend!!

Buds: Meeting a great guy, who has the potential of being more than friends.

Weeds: Tech losing to OU this weekend:( (But on the upside, we held them to 28 points. They avg. 40 per game.)

Violet= One of my best friends and I have decided we're going to Europe this summer and it is so much fun to plan! And my cousin will be studying in London this winter, so we're also planning to visit her then, too!
Bud = I'm flying home to Florida this weekend for my college (sorority house) roommate's bridal shower.
Weed = The marketing tracking software I am using is a pain in the butt and it keeps giving me problems!

(Another thorn: I'm going to be broke after all this travel!)

And my favorite violet this fall.... Smiley21 is now our sister!

Violets= On October 23, I will be recording a couple of songs with my cousin on her album!!!!!!
Buds= Singing in TN this weekend, and I get to spend QT with my BF!
Weeds= Just got a phone call from a sister, who is distraught over our chapter-----things are not good right now in Zeta Eta, and something must change......

Violets = I got paid today!!!

Buds = I can't wait for this weekend!!! I'm going to the Homecoming festivities of my "old" university! Its going to be great!!!! Also, I can't wait for next weekend! It's going to be my grandmother's 75th birthday party and my sister and I are going to surprise her by showing up to the party! (We live so far away she doesn't think we will be able to make it)

Weeds= The drive to get to my "old" school is going to take FOREVER... we're gonig to be on the road until the weeee hours of Saturday morning because we all have growed-up jobs and we have to stay till 5.. then enjoy the goodness of Friday evening rush hour traffic in dallas...

Violets - It's finally beginning to feel like Fall here and I love it. Fall makes me happy.

Buds - I am having a spa day on Wednesday - I can't wait!!

Weeds - My feet have finally become too swollen to wear heels every day now. I feel weird without heels on ...

Violets= Had a cookout with my family this past Saturday, and a singing on Sunday----so much fun!!!!
Buds= Saturday afternoon, I'll be recording a few songs!!
Weeds= I'm trying to not drink sodas anymore, and I need the caffeine fix, but at work, I don't have anything with caffeine besides soda and coffee (I'm not a big coffee drinker)----I have a huge lack of caffeine headache! AAAaaarrggghhhh!

Violets: Baby Ogden is doing wonderfully and is hyper active.
Buds: I had two successful interviews that I'm patiently waiting to pan out for me.
Weeds: We had to put Amelia (my 9mth puppy) down on Friday because of a very rare and debilitating illness. Poor Geronimo (my 10 yr old dog), he sure misses his buddy. :(

Violets = The week is almost halfway over!

Buds = I can't wait to see my grandmother and family this weekend!!!! Also I am in the "talks" of adopting a beautiful baby bichon puppy from a rescue group, so wish me luck!!! I would love to be the new mommy of the adorable puppy!

Weeds = blah @ group projects.

Violets= Oh my gosh, I have the coolest news ever!!! (don't want to post it, though, cuz it might jinx it) So PM me!!

Buds= I get to see my niece this weekend!!

Weeds= My bf is being a jerk right now.....but I'm confident that it won't last long.....

Violets: I heard from an old friend, the guy who was my "handler" when I was the youngest delegate to the Democratic National Convention!

Bud: He has a screenplay under consideration at a MAJOR picture studio! If they buy it, he wants me for an important but non-visual part of the screenplay! (he's really encouraged me in this direction!)

Weed: mr. honeychile is not doing cartwheels of excitement, even though I've been on the level with this (and he's been encouraging me in the same direction!).


Oh, I forgot to mention one of the funniest parts about mr. "handler'!!! The last four digits of his phone number are 1851!!!!! :)

Violets: Participating in initiation on Friday, and also getting an email from my best guy friend from college this morning :)

Buds: Amazing Race starts this week (I've been deprived :D) and I'm going to see Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason with two friends

Weeds: My step-father's work is dumb - doesn't know how to send out paychecks correctly :p

Violets- I got my new job. I'll be a Direct Marketing Coordinator for my company. I'm very excited about this.

Bud- My boyfriend will be home from NC on Thursday.

Weed- I just want to be done with my old job. While I like the people for the most part, I know I'm leaving so it's hard to focus.

Violets= Things are coming together for my trip to London-----PM me for details!!!

Buds= Thanksgiving meal is at work tomorrow, yummy food!!

Weeds= Our holiday cards at the law firm are going out this week, and I'm in charge (of the grunt work). The attorneys are driving me bananas!!!!!

Violets: We won our IM soccer game against DPhiE to be Panhellenic Champs!

Buds: Decorating for the Holidays next week!! (It's definitely my favorite time of the year)

Weeds: 3 finals next week.... Wed, Thurs, and Friday. =(

Violets ~ I had a lot of fun this weekend w/ my friends!

Buds ~ It will only be a 4-day work week for me! Then I can go out and put my giftcards from Christmas & Graduation to work for me! And I'll also be going to my first ever Alum Assoc. meeting next week!

Weeds ~ Mr. texas is going to be gone next weekend for work :(
