In this thread, we appreciate The Brady Bunch

Okay, I know erniegurl00 and I weren't the only ones watching Brady Brady Brady Weekend on TVLand this weekend. Growing up I'd always watch the episodes in syndication afterschool, usually on TBS -- that's how I know every episode. Now the freakin theme song's going to haunt me the rest of this week.

What's YOUR favorite episode? And don't say "porkchahpsh and appleshaush"...even though Peter's my favorite Brady and I think he's still hot after all these years.

Marcia! Marcia!! MARCIA!!! :D

wrigley 09-27-2004 08:57 AM

The episode when Tiger gets lost and everybody rallies around to find him. When the kids all chip in for the reward money and the Dad has to keep changing the amount to the newspaper. It's so cute.

smiley21 09-27-2004 08:57 AM

i love the 'pop up brady' episodes. so hilarious!!!

33girl 09-27-2004 10:38 AM

The one with Greg and the goat.

My favorite "love to hate it" episode is the one where Jan can't get a man, and then she puts on a dress and Clark Tyson falls in love with her. It's the height of Brady unreality. You know the Monday after that episode there were tons of little girls who wore dresses to school and then came home crying because the boy they were in love with didn't notice.

i grew up watching the brady bunch. i think i have seen every single episode. this weekend i finnaly saw the movie versions 1 and 2 on tbs (i think that was the channel). i even saw the christmas on too. :)

DWAlphaGam 09-27-2004 10:50 AM

My favorite is the Silver Platters one. :)

Kevin 09-27-2004 10:54 AM

It was a great show.

Xylochick216 09-27-2004 02:53 PM

I loved Pop-Up Brady this weekend :)

I think one of my favorites is when they go out West on vacation. Or when the girls have a huge sleepover and the boys are playing tricks on them.

I liked all the episodes where the kids get to sing. Of course none of them could really sing for shit, but "Sunshine Day" and "Time to Change" are still really catchy.

And then the one where Bobby gets afraid that Carol's going to be the evil stepmother just like in Cinderella so he makes an attempt to run away. Mike offers to go with him, but Bobby says "But you can't go, you're the dad..."

And then Carol's at the bottom of the stairs waiting with her suitcase and she offers to run away with him.

Gets me everytime, especially when mom and son hug.

...And everyone loves the Hawaii episodes!

I watched it and the reunion. Marcia Brady is still hot.

Sistermadly 09-29-2004 10:05 AM

The one where Peter has to make the volcano for his project, and Marcia's trying to get in with the snooty cool girls. A classic.

And here I thought I was the only one who still liked this show. I even have a cassette (!) of the Brady Kids' hits that I drag out and play now and again just to annoy Mistermadly.

(ETA: "It's a Sunshine Day" is cool, but "React Positively" is a better song.)

honeychile 09-29-2004 10:28 AM

I like the one when Marcia started dating the guy who beat Greg out for a place on the basketball team. I got a cheap thrill that a Brady didn't win something!

Of course, Jan with the big Afro wig was priceless!

valkyrie 09-29-2004 10:58 AM

Did they ever explain what happened to the boys' mom and the girls' dad? I don't remember ever finding out about that and I've always been curious. Were they in tragic accident or something?

33girl 09-29-2004 11:28 AM

They do show Bobby holding a picture of the boys' mom in the first episode - Mike tells Bobby he doesn't want him to forget his mom and neither does Carol, so we're to assume that she died.

What happened to Mr Martin - Carol's first husband - is never specified. I think the creators had in mind that she was divorced, but that was back in the day when you didn't mention divorce on TV, so it was never brought up.

"Babytalk, babytalk, it's a wonder you can walk!" :D

Slightly off topic, but I LOVED the Brady Bunch Movies! I thought Gary Cole did an incredible job as Mike Brady and Shelley Long was great as Carol.

It was also funny how they mentioned that it was if Christine Taylor was *BORN* to play Marcia Brady. Maureen McCormick actually had to step back because she thought she was watching herself.

"You got to be in love...to love a love song..."

Am I evil because I'd like to see an episode where the former Mrs. Brady gets together with Mr. Martin, and they hire an attorney to get custody of the kids?

Did I say that?

aabby757 09-29-2004 04:57 PM

Is it an actual episode or a Brady special?

Remember when the kids are older (post the Silver Platters) when they are singing on blocks and Greg/Marcia are together, Peter/Jan are togther and Bobby/Cindy are?

What episode was that and what are the lyrics of that song?

I always thought Marcia looked so pretty.

And still does.

Thanks.

Were they wearing orange?

If so, it was the Johnny Bravo episode--there was a Pop Up Video for it!

Let me hear some of that good time music,
That I love to hear.
I've got plenty of blues,
And sort of bad news.
And I need to buy me some cheer.

There's no sense of walking around with your feet stuck to the ground.
It's much better to put yourself together,
Create a lot of vibes and good cheer for humanity.
That's fine with me.

Every time I see that episode, I crack up laughing because I remember my next door neighbor's big brother imitating the dance. May I add that he looked like Brian Wilson during the "Smile" recording years.

Hey man, have you ever tried doing the dance to that song? It's quite hard...all that clapping and swinging to the side...quite complex!

phikappapsiman 10-02-2004 09:23 PM

"Mom always said don't play ball in the house..."
"Ow, my nose"
"Marcia, MARCIA, MARCIA!!!

But my favorite is the "Davy Jones" episode with the "ugly duckling" girl who tries to out do Marcia for... Davy Jones??? Was he still big then??? All Marcia did was get the girl some contacts and dress her up a little, but then she was HOT!!!

Sistermadly 10-03-2004 01:09 AM

These are the lyrics to "React Positively", a song that I haven't been able to get out of my head since my first post in this thread. :-D
