Extreme Makeover Home Edition
So did anyone else see this episde tonight with the father and 8 kids? I thought it was so touching ... but this show always always makes me cry. Do ya'll cry when watching?
|
It hasn't aired yet where I'm at, but I saw every episode from last season. The widow with the 9 kids, the paraplegic where they installed an elevator for the home, the Watts episodes were my favorites.
Can't wait for tonight! |

I love it. It's all about the homeowner and their needs, and not what some designer wants to "create" to show off their ideas.

I had never seen it before last night but WHAT An AMAZING SHOW. I did cry. I really did. I was so happy for the Wofford family. To take 3 bedrooms and make it 2 stories with the gym and the hot tub. I love how they personalized each room.
I will forever watch this show. I hope they show the ones from last season because I love shows like this. |
only downside is ty pennington, that megaphone is sooo annoying.
however, i too cry. |
ty is so much better looking without a megaphone in front of his mouth.....
but yeah, I cry pretty much every episode. That's why I watch it by myself and make sure no one's around. |

umm yeah, put down the megaphone and pick up a hammer. |
I cried-- it even brought tears to my boyfriend's eyes!! It was an awesome episode and they are an awesome family!

last night's episode was hard to watch. i had to keep changing the channel, so i could pull myself back together.
|
So glad to know that I'm not the only one who isn't ashamed to shed a tear or two.
|
I cry every damn time. Even when it's a repeat. The one with the woman who donated bone marrow for the little girl makes me sob like a baby.
|
I think the father was a bad father. Call me a cynic.
-Rudey --But i;m glad they all have a big house now |
The one episode last season where it was a group of about 8 kids living in a Livermore, CA home and their parents had died earlier that year: My cousins and aunt and uncle live really close to where that house is. They said it REALLY stands out from the rest of the neighborhood because it was so modern compared to everyone else. But that show drew crowds in that little neighborhood. I still have yet to see it in person but my mom has as well as some other members of the family.
I love the show... but always forget when it's on. |
I only got to see the end of it. Can anyone tell me how the mother died? It was very touching
|
I think they said that she'd been ill and it somehow turned into an infection, and that infection is what killed her?

If I'm not mistaken she went into the hospital for the flu and then developed an infection from the flu and then died.
Sad story. Rudey, why do you think he was a bad father? |

I sooo love this show....i have been addicted to i t since the first show last season.
the bone marrow one makes me cry like a baby too. I am SOOOOOO HAPPY for the Wofford family and the FATHER is a REMARKABLE person : 8 Kids and a practice and volunteer coach and church |

I'm glad I'm not the only one that cries at this show! I was sitting on my couch watching it Sunday night, thinking I'm crazy because I'm crying over a home makeover show.
The one with the bone marrow is the worst for making me cry! |
While I LOVE the show, I have to agree (and do) somewhat with Rudey.
Personally, I would never have 8 children unless I can afford it. Obviously he couldn't or he would have hired someone to fix the problems of his house. And, it said the wife stayed home so I assume that her death did not take away an extra paycheck. While I find it wonderful he goes to church, that he loved/adored hiw wife, loves his children, coaches their teams, etc. I do believe that living in a house that was in that condition is a form of neglect. I also feel (though I know it's off topic) that even if you are completely wealthy, why have so many kids? I love the show, I love that they do such a beautiful job. But I feel that that family put themselves in that situation by spreading their resources so thin. Tragic about the wife though. |
Exactly.
So instead of taking care of his kids and home, he coaches and goes to church a lot. So instead of being able to have enough kids that you can take care of, he has 8. And instead of dealing with these two problems, they give them a HUGE home with a gym. Who the heck has a 2 floor gym with indoor basketball court?? But then again, people should see this show for what it is...a form of entertainment. It has nothing to do with charity and fixing these kinds of problems. -Rudey Quote:

Rudey, you forgot that the show is also one gigantic Sears commercial!!
But I still love the show. |

We missed the first part of the show. How was the house in neglect? All I got from the latter part of the show was that it was too small for the family, but it sound from posts here like there was more to it than that. I'm not going to get on the dad for the church-going or coaching his kid's teams -- lots of parents (me included) would say those activities are part of being a good parent. Of course, things at home shouldn't be neglected in the process. But his kids definitely seemed to think he's a good father, and they appeared to be fairly smart kids. I'm going to assume they know more about the situation than I do, and I'm not going to second guess them. What I'm waiting for is the Extreme Makover Home Addition does Habitat for Humanity. |
i saw a show called "renovate my family" maybe last week or so and they basically did the same thing. gave the family a brand new house and also made over the entire family from head to toe. they had the playboy triplets working on the house also :D
|
has anyone else noticed that when the the crew surprises the family early in the moring with the air horn that they family comes out all dressed up with full makeup and hair done? i wonder if the family already knew about the "surprise." if they came to wake me up at 7 or 8 in the morning, i would still be in my underwear and walk out in it :p

May I just say that Mr. and Mrs. Garay's 2 story master suite is just PIMP? I haven't seen anything of its kind of the show until last night!
Can't wait for next week's episode featuring the girl who's allergic to sunlight. I'm curious to see how they're going to make her living conditions better! |

darn!! that show gets me crying everytime!!!! the master suite was incredible!!!! i was thinking 'they are living better than celebrities now!!!'
|
i feel bad for all the other houses around the one just made over. one nice house surrounded by old-rickety ones. it just looks a little off.

exactly what i was thinking. and the fact that gangs have been in the neighborhood before made me feel uneasy about them having a brand new house with brand new things in the middle of that neighborhood. at least they installed the extra strength windows that burglars cannot get through |

Hell i just want the Miss America Crown! hehehehe
|
oh my word that house is incredible!!!
as jealous as i get (i know we ALL do), i am happy to see the families have easier lives |
I love that "wine cellar" that they made the family.
I am amazed at how much they are able to do in 7 days. This time they built so much more than usual. |
