Old School Hip Hop/R&B songs
It's been so long since I've posted to this board, I forgot my password. I am formerly known on Greek Chat as Spr99_Diva. What a shame... I worked so hard to get that "Senior Member" status.
That being said, I need everyone's help. I want to make an old school Cd. Please post your favorite old school hip hop/r&b songs. I am looking for anything prior to Biggie like 80's/early 90's. I'm looking for music that people had crazy dances too and funny looking clothes like 8 ball jackets and cross colors. |

CT4, you found the SUPER GHETTO Master P., Mia X, Mo B. Dick version of the song! However, there is an original that is VERY elusive. I do know that version. It is a New Orleans bounce CLASSIC! Of course, we have a "brown beat" running under it. (CT4, I'm sure you heard the "brown beat" when you were down here!) I'll be happy to send you a copy over IM or something. OohSoFlyDelta, I don't know if you will like our version (unless you like bounce music :D), but I'll still be happy to send you a copy. If you know anyone that has a copy of Master P.'s The Last Don, try looking at the liner notes to see the if they list the original name and artist of the song. They should have to give credit since they sampled the song. Here are the lyrics:
Woke one mornin', Tears in my eyes You had left me without a kiss, or anote, or goodbye Now I've got to learn to live alone But my heart can't take it I guess that's why I wait by the phone For a call, a call from you That says you need me back, just as much as I need you But I guess for the time you need to stay away Let me tell you baby how I'm thinkin' of you everyday I keep thinkin' 'bout the good times we had And how we let jealously turn all we had good into bad Then I realized we'd just try it again Our love would work it out You'd be my girl and I'd be your only man Thinkin' about ya, girl (I'm thinkin' about ya) Thinkin' about ya, girl (I'm thinkin', I'm thinkin' about ya) Thinkin' about ya, girl Thinkin' about ya, thinkin' about ya, girl Used to be, when I saw you in the town Greet you with a smile, but from you all I get was a frown But things'll change just like a revolution, baby Talked on the phone without a fight I think I found a solution I've heard before good things come to those who wait But if you thinkin' right now's not a good time Don't you worry 'cause I'll just wait I'll be patient, one of a few Who can survive, survive just thinking of you I keep thinking 'bout all the love we made How in the world a girl can love me that way Then I realized we'd just try it again Our love would work it out You'd be my girl and I'd be your only man Thinkin' about ya, girl (whoa) Thinkin' about ya, girl (I'm thinkin', I'm thinkin' about ya) Thinkin' about ya, girl Thinkin' about ya, thinkin' about ya, girl |

Well...I'm one of those people who obsess over things like this...it was driving me CRAZY because I really use to like this song...so anyway I was playing it over and over in my head and I asked myself who did the lead singer sound like (he has a very distinct voice) so I just kept singing it to myself....well I was reading the old posts in this thread and someone had mentioned that they liked the old school song "Rumors"......I was like THATS IT!!!!!!! It has to be the same guy...so I looked up "Rumors" on Kaaza and found out who sang it and then I searched by the artist and low and behold it was TIMEX SOCIAL CLUB!!!!!!:D :D :D |
