JupiterTC's Recruitment Thread
Hi Everyone!
I thought I'd post a recruitment thread as well, since I am going through a recruitment of sorts :). A new NPC organization is colonizing at my school, and the first day of recruitment is tonight! There will be one event a week, and bids will be passed out the beginning of October. Best of luck to all PNMs!! :D |
Best of luck to you! :)
|
how exciting! good luck!
|
good luck....
have a wonderful, wonderful time. |
I went to the info session on Wednesday night, and it went really well. They explained what the organization was about, played a video, and held a Q & A session afterwards. The maximum number of founding sisters is 90, but there is no mininum. There were probably around 50 at the info session, but I'm sure more will show up at other recruitment events.
I really like this organization. I completely agree with their philophies and purpose, and I want to start something new on campus. Something inside me is telling me to go for it. I'm a senior this year and I've gone through formal recruitment before, but I did not feel completely comfortable with the GLOs that were on campus at the time. While I was watching the video, something just clicked. I can't really explain it, but I know this is the organization for me :). I'm sure it all sounds really lame, but that's been my recruitment experience so far. The next event is a week from tomorrow, where our family members can learn more about the organization. My mom is not Greek, so I'm very excited about her learning more about Greek life. I hope other PNMs are having great experiences as well, and that each one will find her place! :D |
Jupiter,
My best advice is that as you attend more "formal"-ish sort of recruitment parties, TELL them what you just told us-- you want to start something new on campus, you watched the video explaining the mission and ideals of the sorority and something just clicked-- that you would be honored and privileged to be part of this sorority and to be a founding member. From what I know of colonizations, there is an emphasis on finding a good mix of underclassmen AND upperclassmen (younger students for longevity and older students to provide maturity, leadership and serve as role models). Good luck and keep up the positive attitude! It is wonderful that the sorority is including parents of PNM's in its recruitment process-- I hope you and your mom have fun! |
Yay!!
I'm so glad things went well...and I can't believe October is bid day!! Way to string things out Tri Delta;) ditto on adpiucf's advice Hang in there and keep us posted!! Lots of updates!! |
Good luck!! :)
|
Good luck, have fun and keep us posted.

Tri Delta (there's a thread in their forum on the Elon colonization)
|
a terrific first step.
may it continue to flourish |
Thanks for everyone's encouraging words!!! I've found a lot of advice through GC, and everyone on here as been awesome :D
The new group is Tri Delta. I wasn't sure whether or not to disclose the name, because we weren't suppose to give out the names of the sororities on recruitment threads. I guess it's different for me since there is only one group in my case. October can't come any sooner that's for sure. :) |
Good luck! I went through colony recruitment for Delta Gamma, so if you have any questions, feel free to PM me!
|
Good luck to a fellow PNM!
|
keep thinking those positive thoughts...
october will be here in three weeks. |
Update
Due to Hurricane Ivan and tornados around Northern Virginia, my mom was unable to come down for Saturday's recruitment event :(. Philanthorpy event is tonight, but I have orchestra rehearsal. However, I have notified the field consultant last week, and I will be meeting with her later this week about what I have missed at the Philanthorpy event.
|
correct call...just keep talking to them and let them know how much you care...an orchestra rehearsal is hardly a beer call. they should understand.
|
The field consultant completely understood that I had orchestra. I met with her this morning, and she wasn't worried about it at all. She talked a little bit about St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and how chapters each have an opportunity to have a local philanthorpy as well.
So now there are only two events left. This Tuesday is an ice cream social at the Alpha Chi Omega house, and then I have my interview on October 7th at 5:30pm. Two weeks from Friday is bid day!!! :D |
Have fun with my fabulous sisters on Tuesday :D I know they're all looking forward to meeting you! No one there was part of the colonization process, but there are some who were members of the first new member class. They'll be a great resource :)
GOOD LUCK SAM!!!! :D |

This has nothing to do with anything, but every time I read your thread I think of my cat who also happens to be named Jupiter. We both wish you good luck! :) |
continues to sound fine. keep a smile on your face and all your options open. see what develops. who knows? in two weeks you could have a major new home.
|
Thanks!
I just want to say thanks to everyone on GC. I have found several helpful tips, and everyone has been nothing but encouraging. I've gone through formal recruitment before, but I was no where near prepared as I am now. You guys are true blessings! :D
In the meantime, I will continue to keep you guys posted. So far, it looks like about 90 girls is interested in the colony, but I don't know any definite numbers. It sounds like the colony will be very successful at Elon. :) |
Good luck to a fellow Elon Girl!

Elon Tridelta
Hello I am a sophmore who is rushing to be a member of the new tridelta chapter at Elon University!
I am so EXCITED about TriDelta! And I am glad that I found this chat! I also just found out that my best friend in High School is trying to start a new chapter at NorthEastern!!! The Ice Cream social is tonight! it is our last social event and the deltas from WakeForest will be there I am pumped! |
Good luck to both of you! :)
|
yeah to you both...go for it.
|
I don't know anything about colonizing...my chapter that I joined has been at my school for almost 75 years and there haven't been any colonizations here while i've been here BUT i was thinking that maybe you could have someone write you a tri delta rec and they could send it into founders...that woud impress me if i was colonizing and someone sent a rec in for a girl...just something to think about...i really don't know what i am talking about when it comes to colonizing :) Good luck though!!! you'll have lots and lots of fun!!!
|
Thanks for the suggestion! I just wish I knew another TriDelta. My Family is Kappa Delta.
I have been learning from other friends that my school (Elon) has a very different colonization process... because our school invites a sorority onto the campus and the head quarters chooses the founding sisters. Those who recieve a bid have 2-3 months to learn all about TriDelta, Establish the Sorority on Campus, and Prepare for Rush in January! But I am up for the challenge! Which college do you attend? |

I'm a colony girl!
My "rush" was just as you are talking about. My chapter of AGD colonized in the fall (I think sometime in September). My class was chosen by area alumnea and the LC who was stationed at my school for the year. We were "new members" while we were acting as members... we had to be on Panhel (I was the delegate), we did the Panhell Tea, and we even had to host a skit night about going greek for the upcoming Spring Rush. We didn't have a house, we didn't have a chapter room... we met all over campus for about 2 years in various classrooms. We rushed out of frat houses, when they weren't rushing. We were initiated in December and started recruiting new members the following January.
We finally have a house and a chapter room to call our own. We won best new chapter at the convention last summer and are looking forward to our 5th birthday this year! It would have been easier to have joined an established chapter, where traditions were set and reputations were known, but I wouldn't have changed a thing about going with the new chapter. I will be able to look back in 10 or 20 and hopefully 50 years and say I was apart of all those traditions. I helped set the stage for all the AGD's that followed me at Georgetown College. Good luck and have fun. |

I'm up for the challenge as well! This is my senior year and my last chance to join a GLO. I love everything about Tri Delta, and I'm very excited about colonization :D Consultations are next week, and bid day is next Friday! Wish us luck!! |
Congrats on your awards! That is awesome that your chapter was able to achieve so much so quickly!
Our Chapter will not have a house right away... Hopefully we will have a suite next semester... But Greek Life is planning on bringing another frat on campus in the fall and then they will build an addition to the greek courts! I cant wait! I have been looking at other schools websites and have actually found some TriDeltas from my high school! I would be honored to be a Tri Delta! I wish I knew a TriDelta... but I turned in another fabulous recomendation from my internship this summer... So I hope that will help! |
Good luck to all the Elon PNMs!
I was there during the Sigma Kappa and Alpha Chi Omega colonizations, it is so exciting!!!!! |
Thats Awesome!
I am glad that Elon is really putting forth an effort to expand greek life on campus! So much good is done through the philanthropies here... its pretty amazing! |
with zta,
when establishing a colony, a recommendation is not necessary, so maybe it is the same for tri delta. could any tridelta sisters weigh in on this?
|
When my Alpha Chi Omega chapter was colonized a few years ago, hardly anyone had a rec. I think you should be fine without one :) Elon isn't a place where it's necessary to have a rec, but it sure doesn't hurt.
Good luck, Jessy :) I know everyone on campus is excited for Tri Delta's colonization! Have fun! --Sharon |
HELP
I need suggestions...
One of the girls who is also rushing tridelta... well lets just say we have drastically clashing personalities. I know TriDelta is the place for me... but i am really worried that if we both get bids how it will work out! Has this or something similar ever happened to anyone? My heart is in TriDelta and its where I know I belong, but I am getting more and more nervous about what might happen the closer it gets to Bid Day!!! Anyone got good advise? |
