Sigma Delta Tau colonization at FSU

I attended the information sessions last night at FSU for the SDT colonization. The response from the campus was overwhelming! About 275 women preregistered for the info sessions and even more just came to the sessions last night. In fact, they had to run multiple sessions in order to speak with everyone. Because of the number of women, they are shifting their base of operations over to the Union.

There were so many different kinds of women there - all ages, racial backgrounds, sizes, religions. It was great to see. The national officers I spoke with are so excited to be back at FSU and I met the Chapter Consultant that will be living here for the next year to assist the new chapter.

The current plan is to install the chapter by the end of October via an intensive 7 week colony program. They are securing housing and the chapter will be housed in time for Formal Recruitment 2005.

If any PNMs were at the last info session, I'm the Zeta that was introduced near the end of the evening. :D

I'm going out of town until Monday, so I'll report back any news I hear at that time.

Interviews are going on today and tomorrow. Tonight is their philanthropy event and tomorrow night is Pref. Bid pickup with be Sunday morning with bid day events and pinning that afternoon.

She did. :) There's a thread in the SDT forum.

 i do not think that it is the same girl

ADPiAkron 09-05-2004 03:41 PM

I don't think it is either...she could have changed her name from Nolegirl17 to GONOLES-- but who knows! Congrats to GONOLES though!

aephi alum 09-05-2004 05:17 PM

Yes, I was thinking of GONOLES. "Our GCer" could have meant either of them... anyway, congrats to her and all the new colony members. :)

There were a couple GC's with 'nole' in their username that were considering SDT. They were looking to fill total to 150, however they are absorbing most, if not all, the women from the local interest group. I believe that means they will using this colonization to fill about 100 places.

I got back from my trip early, due to the weather, but haven't heard how the rest of the colonization went. Once I do hear, I'll post!!

nolegirl17 09-05-2004 10:37 PM

Nope, not the same person. Unfortunately I was not able to participate in SDT this weekend... my parents wanted me to come home for Labor Day Weekend because of the hurricane. I'm glad that it was such a great success and sorry I was not able to be there to be a part of it. I stopped and talked with the girls working at the SDT table in the union several times and I know that they were very excited about it. Like I said, I am glad to hear it had a great turnout, they seem like a wonderful organization and definitely deserve it. :)

Buttonz 09-06-2004 03:50 AM

nolegirl17, I hope you weren't affcted by the Hurricane. I'm sorry that you didn't get the chance to chekc out SDT more, maybe you will get the chance in the spring, or most likely, next fall.

Because there will probably graduating seniors this winter, there is a good chance that they will take a small spring New Member class. Something to look into come January!!

GONOLES 09-07-2004 02:21 AM

Thank you PenguinTrax for helping out and keeping everyone so informed! I have to say your posts offored a whole lot of inside information before I was even pinned on sunday!

mmcat 09-07-2004 07:12 AM

nolegirl 17, don't give it up just yet.
:)

PenguinTrax 09-14-2004 11:46 AM

Found out that the chapter is currently at 130 and total on campus is 150 so they are (probably) looking to add a small new member class in the spring.

Peaches-n-Cream 09-14-2004 12:17 PM
