Okay okay ladies..I am SO excited! Rush actually doesn't start until September 10th, but I am so excited I decided to start my thread early and give a little back ground info!

I have been reading GC for over a year now, and I am so happy it's finally me!:D I decided to wait a year to rush to get a feel for things, so its the beggining of sophomore year, and its about time!

My school's greek system is very small we have three sororities Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Delta Delta, and Gamma Phi Beta. And in no particular order I will be using colors to code each group. Pink, Orange, and Yellow.

First of all my closest friends here at school are all Pink and Orange girls who are all very sweet. I have heard some negative things about Yellow, but I do not know any of those girls, so I am not letting myself listen to any of that for now.

This past week I have met a lot more pink girls. They are all a lot of fun. I am nervous though because when school starts I won't be able to hang out with them until after rush, and that is going to be really hard. The rules about silence are a little vauge and especially to us rushees. Last night there was a little incident when I went to dinner with two pink girls, and a yellow girl saw us there. I hope I don't get anyone in trouble, but these are all girls who I have been friends with last year, and I can't help it all my friends are greek! It's going to be a lonley couple of weeks! ahah But its going to be worth it in the end!

Oh yes, I also want to say I am not at all thinking I want to be pink(or any other color) just because most of my friends are. I want everything as far as I am concerned when rush starts to be new and I am going to be open minded about every color. Another small factor playing into all of this is that from the start I had considered transfering schools after two years( I won't say where bc I don't want to give anything away), but I know lots of yellow girls there and I absolutley love them! I am actually trying to not let that influence my decision at all, but we will see when Rush starts how things go!

Any advice or comments are welcome!!!

Wow! It sounds like this one might turn out interesting for you! I think it's great that you're going in with the attitude that you want to give all of the chapters a fair shake!

Just a little good news yesterday the yellow girl who I saw told me not to feel uncomfortable about yesterday, and that she totally understood and that it wasn't a big deal, so that's great news!

I mean I am excited bc that means rush is getting closer, but then again not being able to talk to my friends..is NO FUN! Its going to be really tough for me, good thing I have all these recruitment stories on Gc..:p

Okay, getting a lot more nervous! I went shopping for rush this weekend, and I got a lot of fun stuff!

Have a recruitment meeting Tuesday to meet my rho chi and go over the schedule and what to wear and all of that! But I have a class right in the middle of it, ugh! So, I guess I am going to go late?..I don't want to look like I don't care and I am late all the time, but then again I really can't miss this class so early in the semester, and there is NO WAY I am missing this meeting all together. I am way too excited!!

Oh, well..we'll see!

Call the office of Greek Life on Tue in the morning and tell them you have class and will be late. Then, go to class as you planned and then go to the Orientation after class. This way, you will have covered yourself.

No matter what, school comes first, but is important to always communicate if you have a conflict with a meeting.

All righty, just got back from the meeting. I met some girls that were really nice! The bad part was since I went after class, the meeting was basically over, and there were just girls kind of hanging out. Oh well, I am still so excited about this weekend. Just to let you guys no what's going on...here's the schedule

Friday 3pm-meet with the rho chis
Open House 3:30-6:30

Saturday, Philanthropy 12-4:30pm

Here comes the crazy day
Sunday, Prefrence 9am-3:30pm
Sunday, Bid Day 7-10pm

I was a little blown away by having pref and bid day on the same day, but aparently it is pretty common to do that with so few groups in such a small greek system.

I am so anxious and excited, and I have so many mixed emotions right now! Thanks everyone for all your positive feedback; it means a lot! Talk to y'all Friday!!:)

Look on the bright side for Sunday.....

You won't have to wait more than a few hours to find out where your new home is. MUCH better than waiting over night.

Day One Open House!!
Wew I had so much fun, I met so many people, I am so tired though..hehe. I ran home just for y'all bc I am going out with the pm's and the rho chis tonight. In honor of the no booze, no boys, no parties rule were going out for pizza and arcade games : )

okay here we go:
In Order I attended

Yellow- I loved these girls. The girl who I was paired with was awesome. Our personalities automatically clicked and we talked the entire time, so much that people felt bad coming over and talking to us by interrupting. I am so glad I kept an open mind about these girls bc I loved them!

Pink- I know a lot of these girls so it was great seeing them since I haven't in so long. I hate to sound rude, but the girl I was paired with was so quiet and we were not alike at all. I felt uncomfortable with her. She told me about how when she came through rush she had all these anti-greek feelings. I was like she should not be telling me this. I don't know I wish I could have met some more girls, so I am looking forward to a longer time with them tomorrow!

Orange- I loved this group. The room was decorated so cute, and everyone looked gorgeous! At one time I was just alone with five other orange girls, so that made me feel really good. I felt really comfortable with them.

This choice is going to be so hard I can already tell. I am so excited about tomorrow, but I had such a great day today. All these girls worked so hard and everything turned out so awesome. As far as I know there are no cuts or anything we go back to all the houses tomorrow. Oh man, okay I have to get ready to go eat with some of my potential new pledge class sisters(HOW EXCITING):D

Bad news..

my best friend here just came over to let me know that i was cut from pink. I am totally heart broken. We just cryed and cryed and she is saying that I should cob.

Last semester during exams my good friends dad passed away, so I changed my priorities and flew home to be with her. I don't regret it at all. Bc of that I made a couple C's. My grades didn't transfer in from my other schools, so they couldn't go by that.

I really hate that this had to happen. I know the rules are the rules, but it just stinks.

I am going to try to be positive about tomorrow and hope for the best!

I'm confused - how did your best friend know that you were cut? What about the other 2?? From your descriptions, pink was the only one you didn't say "I loved these girls" about, so maybe things will be for the best!:) Keep your chin up and smile on!!

Don't you still have orange and yellow left? You seemed to like them both. Give them a chance :) Now that I look back, I wouldn't have been as happy if I had gotten into the GLO that I had tons of friends in. We are still friends, but you don't have to share letters to still be friends. :) Good luck!

Yes, I am totally going to go to yellow and orange today and look at everything better. It was just a huge shock bc I knew how well I got along with everyone there, and I was looking forward to being paired with someone I would click with better today.

Oh well, I am trying to put all those negative thoughts out of my head. I am going to make today a good day!

Babe, if the only reason you were cut was grades, don't feel bad.

Besides, if your friend was willing to break the rules because she thought it would be better to hear it from her, that shows how much you mean to her.

Philanthropy

Yellow
Today I didn't like yellow as much. I could tell as a whole the girls are a lot different than me and have different interest. Everyone was very nice though, but I just didn't feel comfortable with these girls.

Orange
I had fun with these girls today. The craft we made was very cute and the conversation was totally natural. I didn't feel like I was at rush when I was talking to these girls. It was cool, I got a really good vibe in the room. A part of me is nervous maybe they don't like me as much as I like them.

I am trying to get to my heart set on either one bc I don't want to be extremely disapointed. I mean there was a distinct difference between the rooms, which I liked bc it helps to know the ones I would like better, but then again since my choice is so narrow I don't really know.

I am going in the morning to pick two groups..um..obviously I will be picking Orange and Yellow. As far as the pref of those, we sign our cards at about 3 and then collect our bids at 7. I hope tonight doesn't bring the news that last night did.

I know right now if I had to choose just one to join, I wouldn't be able to do it at all.
and you know. the groups I thought I really liked before rush, I dont so much like now. and vice versa. you never know what will happen.
I'm sure it will become more clear for both of us where we truly belong. =)
