The Real World Philadelphia

Premieres Sept. 7 with a casting special on August 24.

No pics yet, but here is an MTV press release on the Philadelphia Soul website, which introduces the cast members and gives some background.

Those people who were fans of the show "Ghostwriter" should be very interested this season.

:D

The youngest person is 21. I'm excited to see an older cast.

I bet they did that because of problems with underage drinking-- just a thought! :D

ZTAngel 08-17-2004 06:20 PM

I think it's great that we have an older cast. Also, from what I've read, many of them have graduated from excellent schools and already have big goals for themselves. No more attention whoring airheads (cough*Trischelle/Steve/Cameran*cough).

Vandy football player. Hopefully, he represents Tennessee well.

I am actually excited about this season. Previous "Ghostwriter" star AND someone from the UW? (After we had one of our students on the past season of "Road Rules," too!) haha.

smiley21 08-17-2004 09:09 PM

Actually, I think they did the age thing because their job was originally supposed to be in a really nice restaurant in Olde City that has a liquor license.

For those interested in the former GW character:

Willie Hernandez played Hector Carrero, a streetwise kid who became involved with the GW crew after being paired up with Alex in a big brother program.

I couldn't find any updated or recent pictures of Willie.

norcalchick 08-17-2004 09:56 PM

Someone from Santa Cruz?! I wonder if she's a hippie chick?

shadokat 08-18-2004 10:16 AM

Two days ago, I nearly was run over by camera men walking backwards down Walnut Street, a BUSY street in the middle of Center City, espeically during lunch time. They were filming two of the cast members walking down the street talking. I couldn't hear what they said, but I didn't really listen. I was too worried about getting mowed!

33girl 08-18-2004 10:45 AM

Whaaaat the? Why are people who were on TV already being chosen for The Real World? That defeats the whole point.

DWAlphaGam 08-18-2004 10:45 AM

I haven't watch RW in a loooong time, but I'll definitely be watching this season!

Xylochick216 08-18-2004 10:47 AM

As horrible as the past few seasons have been, I'm sure I'll be glued to the tv :)

blueGBI 08-18-2004 11:41 AM

I'm going to watch only because its my hometown. Other than that, I would just give up.

ASUADPi 08-19-2004 10:57 PM

Is it me or has RW just kind of gone down hill the last couple of years?

Plus, I'm just waiting for them to chose Arizona (come on MTV, Tempe is a total college town and if you come during January to May the weather isn't too hot ;) )

I feel like the seasons are shorter.

I also like the older seasons when it seemed like people's friends and family had a larger role in their lives.

There is heavy drama, little character development.

I agree. I used to like watching the people in their own settings at the beginning, saying goodbye to their families and friends. It made their personalities come alive. Now it's just who will sleep with whom... so dull.

That's why I haven't watched a season since Seattle. I think just having 10 Real Worlds would have been nice. They've lost all power that they had, especially during the SF season. Such a good year. :( Now it's krap.

AWWW, I remember him. I was about to get mad (given his preference) if it was Alex, I used to want to rape that boy.

I don't think he really qualifies as a "celebrity", he may not even look the same, plus that was a kiddie show, a long time ago.

See, I had heard that too, but then I heard that it wasn't going to be a Real World house.

I hope it is, though.

Xylochick216 08-20-2004 10:46 AM

http://www.realworldhouses.com/realworld15.html This site has some pictures of the house.

Yeah actually right after I posted that I went over to Wonkette (where I had read it) and read a related posting that MTV is denying it's a RW house. Oh well...

Reds6 08-20-2004 02:02 PM

Why are the black/latino characters always described as such?
They never say things like John is a Caucasian from wherever...

DZviol 08-20-2004 03:49 PM

Wow!! I looked at the link for the RW house pictures and the Philadelphia house looks soooo nice!!!

Yeah, I think that was unneccessary.

kandy36 08-20-2004 05:15 PM

i dont know if its just me but it seems like the people on real world nowadays are so fake and are just putting up a facade so that the producers can market them better

AGDee 08-21-2004 09:02 AM

I think part of our dissatisfaction with RW comes from all these other reality shows which end with a "winner". RW becomes anti-climatic because at the end, it just ends.

Dee

ASUADPi 08-21-2004 09:14 AM

AGDee you are so right.

I honestly can't think of the last RW that I watched the entirety of and that I actually liked.

I know I watched New Orleans all the way through. Seeing Danny (was that his name) deal with his boyfriend who is (was) in the military and Julie who was dealing with her uptight religious upbringing.

Oh yeah I watched Las Vegas all the way through. I don't know why because it was all about the group having sex. Oh and Trishelle's pregnancy scare.

I completely agree with you... the San Deigo the cast last season seemed so young.

lifesaver 08-22-2004 11:47 PM

I also enjoied RW before it became soaked in Vodka and Sex.

It's about 2 or 3 doors down from the Betsy Ross house. I find that amusing, for some reason.

AznSAE 08-23-2004 05:57 PM

i got this off the mtv website. it has pictures of the cast and more of the inside. the house is so big and it makes me sick seeing the inside. i wish i had something like that. all that and they can't get their own rooms?

If they didn't say he used to be on ghostwriter, I would NOT have recognized him. He looks so different.

DeeGeePrincess 09-07-2004 10:32 PM

i think this is gonna be a good season!!! so def. gonna watch.

that sarah chick = wanna be trishelle, shes basically asking for sex during that hot tub scene...barf!!!!
