Rush at UK
A pal of mine is Rushing at UK right now. ITs day two.
Lets all send her nice thoughts. |
Woo-who! Best of luck to your friend. Great chapters at UK! :D
|
Good luck to your friend, James. I hope she has an enjoyable and successful time!
.....Kelly :) |
Thanks for the best wishes lol . . not many replied, i guess they feel cheated out of the play by play :p
|
Let us know what happens! I was down there yesterday for rush & will be back for pref! Maybe I'll see your friend then! ;)
|
Anyone know what total and quota are for UK this year?
|

Quota wont be known till after preference is overwith. Total in teh past has been 150, but I believe in the past couple of years that has been increased. I believe quota though is typically between 50-60. |
She got invited back to a bunch of houses but some girls in her group were cut completely.
What is tomorrow soupposed to be like? Pref is thursday. Mary, are the numbers in that link accurate to the best of your knowledge? Note: I am only mildly and rather tangently interested in this outcome because its someone I know. I don't want anyone to think I am excited about this or care very much about the result... :p |
Mary, while I am asking:
Just tell us the entire formal rush process from beginning to end at UK lol:) Save me asking in segments. |

2)UK has 12 chapters. A PNM visits all twelve on day one(yesterday). Days two and three are the Philanthropy Rounds. A number of ten parties may be attended and that is broken down to five each day. Day three/Wednesday is the Third round and a maximum of 6 parties may be attended. Thursday is preference and a maximum of 3 parties may be attended. After the parties the PNM's go over to Memorial Hall to sign their bid cards. Bid Day is Friday and I believe bids will be distributed in the Classroom building by Noon, and then you'll see all these girls and members running and screaming in excitement towards their new sorority houses (or from if they are members) to greet their new members. 3). UK is an SEC school. It is quite competitive, usually close to 1000 PNM's register. Many either are cut or quit after the first day for whatever reasons. It's not as competitive as other SEC or southern schools, but competitive nonetheless. Lots of legacies go through recruitment at UK. |

This year there were more than 70+ girls in each rush group that came through the Sigma Kappa house yesterday. This means that there were anywhere between 850-900 girls total this year from my rough numbers. I didn't count each group exactly (nor did I get the chance to) but I do know that we almost ran out of seats for our lovely PNM's! And its definitely competitive, if not for anything but the simple fact of how many girls go through each year! Girls that don't appear to be interested will be seen that way! Good luck to your friend James! Hopefully UK has a home for her somewhere! :) |
James, please tell your friend that I - all of us at GreekChat! - wish her the best in Recruitment. I'm sure we all want her to find the best sorority home for her, even though we each have our own ideas of which home that should be! ;)

Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Statistics Spring 2004
These stats do not reflect graduation or members who did not return this year. According to the 2003 Fall Formal Panhellenic Rush Statistics quota was 53 with the percent matched for signed bid cards was 97%. 1st Choice 88% 2nd Choice 9% 3rd Choice 2% Snap Bids 1% Quota Additions 0 I've got a couple of friends who are helping out with their groups recruitment at UK and I believe they said chapter total had been lowered. Is that possible? And no, I don't know what the total is now. |
I can report at this point due to sources at the Theta house that the UK Theta chapter had a 99.7% return rate after the first day of recruitment!!!!! :) I'm excited for my Gamma Iota sisters at UK! I cant wait to see how the rest of recruitment works for them.
|
My cousin is in the process of going through rush at UK now ,too. We have not heard too much from her, as we are all trying to get back to normal down here in SW FL after Hurricane Charley. (We are all ok and have power here in Naples!) I do know she was invited back to 10 parties during her second round YEAH~~....she was very nervous before she left for KY! Wish her lots of luck. I'll keep you posted!Let us know how the week goes.
Congrats Theta on your returns! Looks like a great chapter! Good luck to you friend James! Keep up the great work Sigma Kappa! Alpha Gamma Delta Gamma Beta '89 |
I hope we get some updates tonight. The PNM's get their invites tonight for third round that starts tomorrow. They can go back to a total of 6 parties.

all the best to all those concerned.
99.7 return rate is incredible. |
James - Best of luck to your friend going through recruitment at UK!!! We have a great AOII chapter there.....
|
I haven't had a chance to talk to anyone from my chapter, but Bid Day is Friday so y'all will know something pretty soon.
|
i'm so excited... i guess all day today is bid day and then tonight they will do bid matching... so I am one of the alumni that gets to help with whatever you do in the matching "place". I've been a PNM, a charter new member, a Collegiate member and an alumnae but never a person who helps with the matching! I'm so excited. I hope and pray that all chapters get quota because I know that they have all worked really hard these past two weeks.
Good luck to all the chapters and PNMs at UK. And for that matter everywhere else. |

the prefs sound terrific. |
All 3 groups are outstanding organizations to join, I hope she finds the best fit for herself!!!
|
Last night went really smoothly... only thing was that I wasn't there for very long and didn't get to see the chapters lists. I helped get the bid cards ready for the scantron and then did a hand check to make sure that there were no mistakes.
All the girls looked really cute and they have had a wonderful week with low temps and no rain. Maybe one day I will get to see the chapters bidmatching side of things :) |
Bid Day Today!
Bid Day is today at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
Best of luck to all and have fun at Kentucky Welcome! GO CATS! |
UK Continuous Open Recruitment
From the UK Sorority Recruitment Information guide.
UK Continuous Open Recruitment Open Recruitment, also known as Continuous Open Recruitment (COR), begins after the conclusion of Sorority Membership Recruitment Week and continues throughout the academic year. Open Recruitment is recommended for anyone who chooses not to participate in Membership Recruitment Week or did not receive a bid during the week. COR offers women the opportunity to participate in sorority life and join a sorority through an informal process. Membership recruitment activities might include pizza parties, bowling outings and TV nights. Participating sororities will contact you by phone, letter, or personal visit to invite you to attend their membership activities. Keep in mind, you will not hear from all the sororities. Because some chapters fill their pledge quota during the Fall Membership Recruitment Week, they are not eligible to participate in Open Recruitment. You can register for COR in 575 Patterson Office Tower or on line at www.uky.edu/StudentAffairs/Greek/openform.htm. Questions regarding Open Recruitment can be answered by sorority women or the Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Office at 859-257-3151. Continuous Open Recruitment has no registration fee. |
