Updated Website Results
Ok- so we are all excited about recruitment, but since things are still slow at the moment I figured we need something else to get excited about. So I dedicate this thread to the coming of the updated Alpha Delta Pi website!! If someone would check daily and on this thread keep us updated as to the days news (updated or not)! It does not have to be the same person daily, just whoever gets to it first! Then in the end when it is finaly updated we will all know right away! I know it sounds silly, but it will be fun to check daily to see if the site is complete!!

As of right now, 11:37am MST, it is the same old website. GRRRRRRRRRR. I think I am one of the most impatient sisters here. LOL.
|
Same 'ol site still
I didn't know there was a revamping of the website. But it sure needs it. I see other national's websites and they are awesome. Did you all see the new stuff in the Gift Mart?? I've seen some of the items at other website (like the magnets) but they have stickers (with and adorable azure blue alphie). I hope they come out with more ADPi specific jewelry, and not just engraved things. One thing Alpha Phi has is a crest pendant made up of all colored enamel. Looks pretty cool.

As of 8:00am EST the website stillllllllll looks the same! :(
|
It is still the same at 1130am too. I wish we knew the day it would be up at least. I really want it to be up already.
|
still the same as of 3:43 CST
AAAAArrrrrrgggghhhhh!! |
I thought the finished product date had been bumped back another three months?
This is going to be one long thread. Still the same as of August 12th, 5:38 a.m., GMT+1 (Germany time) |
Are you serious? I never heard that!
|
I really hope that is not true. New members are going to use the new site to do self study during their alpha period.
Chapter were told not to do any contingency planning in case the site was not ready by the time new members arrive. This makes me very uncomfortable. As the new system would be great to talk about during recruitment. Some chapters have already begun recruitment parties this week - so new members will be looking for the site by early next week. Hope it is ready! |
Well right now as of 5:31pm EST it is not! Boooooooooooooooo
|
Does anyone know what kind of content will be on the new website?
I remember looking at the old one a few years ago before I transferred and it had fun stuff like our symbols, colors, terminology. |
still the same at 1:53 AM Friday.:(
and the lady at EO told me last week it would be up in the beginning of august... so it has to!;) |
someone in EO told me end of August.
|
OK- So I'm thinking..... A watched pot never boils...... Are we just making it worse on ourselves?
|
When I was in LA, I got to see a demo for beta testing of the new site. I like the new features of the members-only section. Much more user friendly. The navigation was very good throughout.
Overall, the layout and design was extremely dated and this was my chief complaint. So beta content=great. Beta design= poor and an attempt to mimic paper publications. You can't do that with web and have a strong design. I know the idea is to integrate non-computer users, but the web site needs to be graphically appealing to PNM's. First impressions count. These are just perspectives from my experience working in marketing and advertising. It is constructive criticism and not in any way bashing the efforts of those who have worked on the tech committee. |
that sounds interesting adpiucf.. thanks for the info!!
You're also definitely right when it comes to the need to have a strong design as well as content. |
Well I know for myself that until the website is up and running I can't hazard a guess on the looks of it, but first impressions are important. I think the website we have now is beautiful but the first time I went to it after it change, OMG I got so confused. To me it isn't that user friendly at all.
I'm looking forward to seeing what the new website looks like and what it has to offer. |
I think most will like it, and may think I'm nuts for saying it looks dated, but I said the same thing about the new philanthropy logo when it was rolled out.
I think that is what happens when you are working with a non-profit and don't have the budgets of a corporate branding campaign. Although I will say the ADPi re-brand for 150th was dead-on and quite good. The people doing all of this work are, after all, volunteers, and typically don't have a graphics background. We appreciate their volunteerism though-- it keeps things moving and keeps pushing us forward. These programs wouldn't happen at all without them! Design can be refined over time. Again, just covering myself and praising the tech committee and phil. committee for their time and efforts by saying this is just constructive criticism of someone who has worked in print and online design. IE: For a contrast of what I think IS good design, check out the new UF sorority web sites that have been designed by multimedia companies. Excellent recruitment tools, great design and very appealing. The things you can do when you know what you want and budget for it! :) |

And then it'll be obvious and we won't have six updates per day on this thread. :) |

Thanks for clarifying. I am aware that a design firm was employed. I didn't make the point I wanted to clearly enough. I just felt the graphic design of the new site is lacking, and despite employing "professionals," the client needs to be savvy enough to know some design elements as well. Like I said before, I'm not knocking the volunteers. I just personally don't think its good design. I'm done commenting on the ADPi web site; as I said, my comments weren't intended to bash any efforts made. I hope everyone will enjoy it once it is online. |
Nothing new. Big old sigh.
We're halfway through the month now. |
Still the same site.
Anybody know what chapters are going to do that already have new members who are supposed to be doing self-study and quizzes on the new site? |
Anybody want to guess what day/time it will be launched?
A website pool with no money involved just the glory of being right! My guess is September 1, 12:00 noon Eastern time. |
Quote:
I'll guess September 3, 10am Eastern time. :) |
August 30th 9am
|
I love pools!
I'm guessing September 13, at 9:20am. Gee, I wonder why....? |
My luck being the way it is, I'll go with September 7 at 7:30 a.m.
(a.k.a. the same time I start my first day of school and lose all free time to enjoy something like that) |
September 21 at 7:00am is my guess!
|
Oh I want in on this pool. LOL.
I'm torn between two dates August 31st or September 3rd. Hmmm. (thinking) (thinking) (debating) (deciding) September 3rd, 12:00pm EST |
I'm in...
I pick October 22 (my hubby's birthday) at 12 noon. I figure every collegiate chapter I've ever heard of operates on "Pi time" so why not exec. office too! |
I'll bite....
September 7th, noon EST |
I'm going to go with September 6th... at ....... 10 am Central
|
