best gift from a s/o?

whats your fav gift that you ever got from a significant other?

are you still with them? if not, do you still use it, even if you are dating someone new? (ex, wearing jewelry from an ex bf .. would you wear it out w/ your new bf?)

just curious :)

I've received interesting gifts.

But I give better ones :D

First year anniversary, I got her a brita pitcher.

For her b-day that year, a cordless phone.

Then, anniversary #2, I got her a top-of-the-line blender.

I'm a believer in gifts that have utility:D

my bf gave me a diamond heart necklace for valentine's day. i love it.
i would never wear something from an old boyfriend while i am with a new boyfriend. to me, that brings bad vibes into the new relationship. i just do not think it is smart. it could come back to bite you in the bottom

BabyP 08-08-2004 05:11 AM

I agree i never wear old jewelry from old boyfriends - only when I am single or just keep them in the jewelry box. The best gift I have ever gotten was from my mom lol - my exes really really sucked at getting me gifts....I think I am so easy to shop for. I like certain things and i keep pointing things in the mall or talk abotu something non stop. oh well

My current boyfriend has given me my saphire promise ring and two sets of saphire earrings. (Um, I accidentally flushed one of the earrings from the first pair and had to get new ones. LOL) I wear the ring and earrings at all times. He's given me a lot of really cute gifts, but I don't want to list them all.

I used to wear an ex-bfs ring, but that was waaayyy back in the day. I only wore it because 1. it was beautiful 2. I changed it to my right hand and 3. well, I was single and not getting any cool jewerly any time soon :p. I stopped wearing it maybe a month or so after we broke up, which was about the time I met my current bf. :)

CASIGKAP 08-08-2004 11:03 AM

In 6 years I've received a lot of gifts. I'm not good at remembering occasions but I do know every gift.

Amethyst earrings (my birthstone), TV, computer, bed, desk, dresser, TV stand, George Foreman grill, waffle maker, crock pot, wok (can you tell I love to cook?), backpack, and so many other things.
Finally, he put the down payment on my car! :D He's just awesome. I never ask but he just always seems to know. Unfortunately, my car broke down on Friday.:( Getting it fixed on Thursday.

rainbowbrightCS 08-08-2004 06:20 PM

I got a promise ring from my then boyfriend. I love it so much, that even when we did break up I still wore it (he said I could do anything with it but sell it)... But now I am engage to him, and its still my favorite thing.

My current boyfriend gave me the best birthday gift last year: a black and silver picture frame from Things Remembered with the words "Remember our first kiss" and that date engraved onto it. Then he took a picture of us kissing and had it printed in black & white and placed it into the frame.

It's currently on my dresser, but once we move into our house, it'll prolly go elsewhere for all to see.

IowaStatePhiPsi 08-08-2004 08:20 PM

just the pleasure of their company is good enough for me.

My boyfriend gets me excellent gifts (iPod, bracelet, perfume), but my favorite is actually a simple teddy bear. He gave it to me for our first Christmas and I sleep with it whenever I am not with him.

He is a keeper:)

My boyfriend is awesome at getting me good presents . . . things I've mentioned that I want, or that have to do with things I like . . . the best thing besides jewelry thus far was when he got me Final Fantasy XI. He is the best boyfriend ever. :)

I think I am a pretty good gift-giver. For Christmas in July with my HS boyfriend, I got him the poster for the movie we saw on our first date, and an antique child piano, since he plays the piano. It was like a grand piano, only miniature for a little kid to play, it was pretty awesome. For my current boyfriend, I like to get him little presents randomly, but I think the best thing I have given him would be one of those chair massaging things, because he gets backaches a lot and since we're in separate states right now, I can't give him backrubs very often.

AUDG 08-08-2004 11:08 PM

The best thing I've ever gotten was for our 3 month, he welded metal... It had 2 big hearts connected by a smaller heart. One of the bigger hearts had my initials welded out, and the other big heart had his initials welded out. The small heart in the center had 3 welded out for 3 months. I didn't really appreciate it at the time, but now I realize how hard he worked on it, so I do keep it around my bedroom at home.

I've never gotten jewelery from a boyfriend, but the same guy mentioned above bought me some jeans and a nice white shirt for Christmas, and I do still wear them on occasion..it's not obvious he bought them unless I tell them.

norcalchick 08-08-2004 11:47 PM

For Valentine's day, my bf got me a Louis Vuitton purse and wallet cause I was always talking about them and looking at them online. And we also went to a pottery pinting place and he painted this heart jewelry box in the LV pattern but changed the LVs to LJs (my initials). It took 8 hours in 2 days!!! But everyone who saw it was awwwing and oohing over it.

At PetSmart there's this machine that engraves pet tags. One of the tags is in the shape of a heart. He gave one to me on my birthday that said "keep me foreve" and it's on my key ring. I got him one that says "Guppie" which is my nickname. So he has "Guppie's heart". :)

For our anniversary he got me an mini Ipod cause I like listening to music and so that I can use it when I go to the gym.

He just does a bunch of lil cute personalized things for me :)

He's pretty good with the gifts he gets me. That one was the best though! :)

Lindz928 08-10-2004 01:28 AM

My first love gave me his favorite t-shirt in the entire world. It was a very small gesture, but it showed me that he cared enough to give me something to special to him. I still have it (and a couple others), but I keep them tucked away where I can't see them, cause they would probably still make me kinda sad.

I think my favorite gift came from a DG I was dating. She bought me 2 new Technic turntables and a new set of some tight ass Sony headphones to go with them. I never had a chick spend that much money on me in my life. I was shocked.

Yes, I still use them. Those turntables have been to many clubs, many parties, after parties, house parties and a couple of wharehouse parties. I have 4 of them, but Jenn's 2 seem to always give me good luck wherever and whenever I play. On the tables she wrote "To Craig, with love from Jenn." Chicks always asked who Jenn was when they were standing next to me watching me spin...I told them it was just some hot DJ chick who gave me her tables.

No, I'm no longer with her...but thats my fault. I could have her back but it'd be too much baggage with her going to high school and knowing the girl I was engaged to, her knowing I was engaged and broke it off and then you'd have to factor in all the shit wrong I did to her while dating......it'd be way too much of a hassle. Yet, thats not to say I wouldn't hit it when/if I see her again.

For my birthday last week, my boyfriend showed up in person. He lied the whole week before saying he "forgot" to ask off from work and that they scheduled him to work on my birthday, so he wouldn't be able to drive out and see me. In reality he had taken my birthday and the following day off. When I came back from class the morning of my birthday, he was standing there, shirtless, and holding my birthday cake. Which he also had preordered I might add. He thoroughly thought this out before hand and kept me completely in the dark. It was awesome, I was so thrilled to find out he came out and did all that for me. He had 2 regular actual gifts too, but the fact that he was there was better than any gift.

Other gifts I love very much: the promise ring he gave me 2 months ago... and my KKG diamond and sapphire lavalier. He wanted to get me a Kappa lavalier, but didn't want it to be just any lavalier, he wanted it to be one I'd reallly treasure. I rarely take it off now.

On the cheaper side of gifts, earlier in our dating, I had just written a 10 page paper on the game of Go, and he got me a Go board set randomly about a month later. I was ecstatic about that because I'd been trying to learn the game, and now I actually had the game board and pieces.

He's so sweet...

I've been seeing a guy now for about 3 months and my birthday is in a little more than 2 weeks. It'll be interesting to see what he does. You know when you haven't been with someone that long. He wanted to go to Chicago for the weekend...but now I think we are going to do that another weekend so he can see his precious Cubs play. So I don't know if he'll do anything special or not. Either way I don't really care about getting a good gift or anything. We have fun anyway...

You're whipped by the dick.

The best gift was my engagement ring... :D

My husband has gotten me some lovely jewelry over the years. He's given me a lovely pair of pearl and diamond earrings that I wear on special occasions, and sapphire earrings that I wear nearly every day. He's a good boy :)

PennyCarter 08-11-2004 10:09 AM

My boyfriend is so good at giving me well thought out personalized gifts....and I'm so horrible at giving him good stuff!!! So keep giving ideas so maybe they'll help me when his birthday comes around...it really stresses me out!

Last year for my birthday (our first one together)...I had just moved to a new apartment and I wanted to do my bathroom in penguins (I love them and someone had given me some art that wouldn't go anywhere but the bathroom), but I couldn't find a cute shower curtain anywhere. I had searched all over the internet and nothing was cute. So he had one hand painted with my penguin joke (long story but its why i love penguins) on it...I got it like 2 months late, but it was wonderful! He had to go to a lot of trouble (and money) to find someone to do it and to get it so personalized (which makes it so much harder when his bday comes around). This year for my birthday he is having me something made but I have NO idea what it is (my birthday was over a month ago...his gifts are extremely personal, but very late too!).

APhi Sailorgirl 08-11-2004 03:14 PM

Hmm, so what if it was a gift that your s/o's parents gave you, but you didn't get the gift until after you broke up?

See my last bf and I broke up a week before graduation. So on graduation, our parents had still bought gifts for what they thought was going to be their child's s/o?

I got a tiffany tag bracelet, which I was thoroughly surprised to get. He got a digital camera. I haven't worn the bracelet yet, but I know he's used the camera.

So think I can wear it and just play that it was a graduation gift? I mean we were together all of college so we got close to each others parents.

Queencece 08-14-2004 06:06 PM

Hasn't happened yet...

Im still waiting on the best gift from my boyfriend. I don't have a boyfriend right now, so it will be a while.

Rio_Kohitsuji 08-14-2004 08:52 PM

Ahh...I love my boyfriend! He has bought me many nice things in the past but I have two favorites that have been in the past few months.

1. He didn't have hardly any money for Christmas so me decided as one of my gifts would be a personalized coupon book for only me to redeem :D
Here's what it had in it:
*dinner for one ^nudge nudge^
*one pointless nagging
*one long overdue TKE letter shirt (long story)
*one pointless shower (for him to take..lol)
*full body massage
*2 or more fat, turtle-necked, grumpy, critter-babies :D (looooong story!)

There were some more but I can't remember, oh, and each these has an illustration of the deed :D It was great! Another thing, all the sexual stuff never had a limit, ;)

2. He used me as a model for one of his oil paintings.....a nude...it was tasteful :p It ended up winning "Best in Show" at the University's Art Show :D :D
