6th Street... the only saving grace 'bout Austin! Otherwise it would suffer a little additional 'collateral damage' from a B-52 bombing 'practice' over t.u., courtesy of the Aggie Corps Air Wing! :D

My two favorite college football teams: Oklahoma (BOOMER SOONER!) ... and whoever's beating Texas! At least the Aggies give us a run for the money, and we respect 'em for it! :)

Whoop to you! I always cheer for the Sooners on Texas/OU weekend. :)

And, we actually did beat ya'll 2 years ago, but I'm sure you don't need to be reminded of that. hehehe ;)

Lindz,
speaking of meeting up on sixth street - I'm definately going to be in A-town Sept 17-20th for ACL. Anyone else?

Lindz928 08-10-2004 06:54 PM

Awesome! I'll definately be going to ACL. We should try to get all the Texas GCers together! :)

triskit03 08-10-2004 11:14 PM

I live in Plano....going back to Nacogdoches soon for school!

ADPiZXalum 08-11-2004 12:15 AM

George West, Texas

lifesaver 08-11-2004 03:44 AM

I'm down for partying on 6th street anytime.

Of course, I didnt really wanna post in here. This thread lost about 60 IQ points with the discussion of A&M and the University of the Middle of Freaking Nowhere.

I'm actually pulling for A&M football this year. The thanksgiving weekend game just sucks knowing this far out UT's gonna win. PLEASE field a descent team so it will be interesting. The most challenging thing going on at Royal Stadium will be how to sneak in a bigger flask.

Oklahoma is Weak Reason #312 - Your beer sucks.

My heart would quit working from all the potassium being washed out of my system for all the beer I'd have to drink before I got a damn buzz.

Lindz928 08-11-2004 04:10 AM

6th street is such a blast! Holler at me if ya'll are ever down here (or up here for those of you down south). :)

And yes, this year's game will most likely be very depressing, as it has been every year since I was a freshman. :( BUT, one day we will win again! I will keep saying what I said about A&M football last year- these are REBUILDING years! They'll be great again, just give them time. ;) hehehe

The only downside I've found to Austin so far are all the damn longhorns but hey, I knew that coming in. :p

PoohsHoneyBee 08-11-2004 08:56 AM

I go to school in Kingsville, but originally from Mercedes. I miss the valley sometimes.

I may be rooting for my alma mater, but didja notice I now live on the BETTER side of the Red River! :p

I gotta agree with ya... Oklahoma 3.2 pisswater sucks mightily! Every OU-Texas weekend the convenience and liquor stores up I-35 make a killing selling full-strength beer to Okies. (Besides if you really hafta have OK+ (Oklahoma's designation for any beer over 3.2%) ya gotta buy it at a liquor store. Unchilled. (Bleah.) And ya better get there before 9 p.m. 'cause that's when they close.

Damn, that sucks.

I grew up in Dallas (dry county) and when I first moved to College Station, it was SO exciting to see beer in the grocery stores!!! :)

Not all of Dallas County is dry, though... Dallas is one of the majority of counties in Texas that allows liquor by precinct option.

Dallas County PW: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off, MB

Dallas JP1 PW: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off, MB
Dallas JP2 PW: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off, MB
Dallas JP3 PW: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off, MB
Dallas JP4 PW: B-Off, W-Off, MB
Dallas JP5 PW: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off, MB

Addison W: MB; PW: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off
Balch Springs Dry
Carrollton (part) Dry
Cedar Hill PW: MB
Cockrell Hill Dry
Combine Dry
Coppell Dry
Dallas (part) PW: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off, MB
Desoto Dry
Duncanville W: B-Off, W-Off
Farmers Branch PW: MB
Ferris Dry
Garland Dry
Glenn Heights Dry
Grand Prairie W: MB
Grapevine (part) Dry
Highland Park W: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off, MB
Hutchins Dry
Irving W: MB
Lancaster Dry
Lewisville Dry
Mesquite Dry
Ovilla Dry
Richardson (part) PW: B-On, B-Off, W-On, W-Off, DS-Off
Rowlett Dry
Sachse Dry
Seagoville Dry
Sunnyvale Dry
University Park Dry
Wilmer Dry
Wylie (part) Dry

Wet (W): The term “wet” when used with respect to a particular type of beverage sale in a given jurisdiction means that the entire jurisdiction, every square inch of it, is wet for that type of sale.

Partly Wet (PW): The term “partly wet” means that there are one or more parts of the jurisdiction in which a particular type of beverage sale is legal but there are other parts in that jurisdiction where that type of sale is not legal.

Dry: The term “dry” means the jurisdiction is dry throughout. No type of alcoholic beverage sales is permitted.

B-On: Sale of beer for on-premises consumption authorized. Not used to describe areas where sales for on-premises consumption can only take place under the authority of a MB or RM.

B-Off: Sale of beer for off-premises consumption authorized.

W-On: Sale of wine for on-premises consumption authorized. Not used to describe areas where sales for on-premises consumption can only take place under the authority of a MB or RM.

W-Off: Sale of wine for off-premises consumption authorized. Not used to describe areas where off-premises sale of wine can only take place only under the authority of a P or Q.

DS-Off: Sale of distilled spirits for off-premises consumption authorized.

RM: Sale of mixed beverages authorized, but only in restaurants.

MB: Sale of mixed beverages authorized. Not used to describe areas where sale of mixed beverages are only authorized in restaurants.

Took me forever and a day to hunt down a list of Texas counties that had any alcoholic beverage control information. The TABC website is absolutely useless. A site which has a map of the wet-dry areas and a listing of the wet/dry precincts is available at http://www.texassafetynetwork.org/to...ry/default.htm .

P.S. Wylie (where I live) is dry, but does allow restaurants to sell liquor via private club (Unicard).

Lewisville (where I live) is the same as Wylie. Geeze, you'd think after I moved here from Lubbock (which is dry), I would've learned. Guess not....

Yeah, but with a new coach it gives us a new excuse to say it. ;) So wait, are you an Aggie fan or what? Cause I'm a little confused. :p

Of course I'm an Aggie fan. I want the game in November to be interesting. Please dear god, let it be interesting. Its been so boarig for the last 12 years.

So at this point, this Longhorn is an AVID Aggie fan.

Gotta love the university that gave us our Breck Girl governor.

And one time I actually swore we'd never see a gov that used more hairspray than Ann Richards.

Did he learn that in the corps?

LOL. He does seem to have a slight case of hemlet head.

I too hope the game is interesting this year, esp since it will be the first I have experienced as a new "Austin Aggie".

So glad to hear that you're an aggie fan. That makes you cool in my book. (And I'm sure you were SO concerned with that. LOL :p )
