Tell us about your badge!

*borrowed from the ADPi forum*

What does your badge(s) look like? What does your dream badge look like? Do you have a chapter guard and dangles? Do tell! :D

My badge is white gold, chased with four pearls. Sometimes I wish I had gotten the white gold crown pearl badge, and I just might one day ;)

My dream badge is white gold with ALL diamonds! So since my birthday is coming up, feel free to get it for me :D

I have a chapter guard, Delta Sigma, in plain white gold. I also have the dangles for Colonizing Member, Honor Board, and Director of Social Awareness!

WhiteDaisy128 08-02-2004 10:29 AM

My badge is plain white gold. It has a plain white gold chapter guard with white gold dangles: director of e-communication, colonizing member, and big sister. I also have the lamp of knowledge on it, but it's yellow gold...I'm proud enough to still wear it thoguh!! :-)

My dream badge is a white gold with crown diamonds, except I'd LOVE to have emeralds placed at the tips (my mother's birthstone). I'd have to have that specially done since they don't make them like that!

AUDeltaGam 08-02-2004 03:01 PM

You're making me want the big sister dangle now!

AnchorAlum 08-03-2004 09:20 PM

I have an all-pearl pin and an all pearl chapter guard. I have the VP-membership dangle.
Yellow gold.

WhiteDaisy128 02-20-2005 03:36 PM

Just got a great high resolution picture of my badge! Yay! Check 'er out! :D

Still wishing for the crown diamond badge! haha

That was the day after initiation! I was definitely proud! :D

And CJ: how do you take a pic of your badge? Every time I've tried, it comes out blurry :(

WhiteDaisy128 02-20-2005 10:03 PM

Chris has a really good camera and he let me use it to take a picture...it's like one of those semi-professional ones.

CutiePie2000 02-21-2005 12:05 AM

My badge is the plain yellow gold 10K badge. (No guard)

One day, I hope to get the white gold one.

DGMarie 02-21-2005 12:29 AM

Use the macro mode on a digital camera. Sometimes the symbol is a little flower. You can take super close ups with this.

I don't have any guards or dangles. Mine is yellow gold, pearl with diamond points. As an AI, I obviously don't have any collegiate dangles, but I kinda wish I did. I got a 4.0 for 6 straight semesters and I want those little yellow lamps cause I was a big ol' miss smartie pants! :D

CarolinaDG 02-21-2005 11:54 AM

I'm so jealous of all of y'all who have white gold ones. That was an option for the pledge class above us, but not for us. I wish we had had the option to "upgrade" our badge... Since we had already paid dues, it wouldn't have been that expensive to upgrade a little.

On a side note, white daisy can you explain your dangles? I'm confused over why there are two lamps, and what are the Heta and Delta's there for? I'm sorry, I feel really dumb. If it's a secret for whatever reason, than that's fine, but usually dangles are pretty standard across org's. Also, how do you upload pictures on this thing? Mine is yellow gold 10K and I just have the Panhellenic dangle. I haven't participated in anything lately where I'd need a badge, so I haven't gotten the rest of my dangles, yet. Also, I don't really have a specific dream badge, but I do want one of the ones with pearls on it.

I can answer for CJ (and CJ, I hope you don't mind!). The "H" is for colonizing member, since our original badge was an "H". The "delta" is for director. The first lamp is the big sister dangle and the second lamp is the Lamp of Knowledge, for earning a 4.0!

And this thread inspired me. I just went to Burr Patt's site and ordered the big sister and the director dangle :D

CarolinaDG 02-21-2005 08:19 PM

Oh, I had seen the lamp of knowledge before (not that I ever earned one myself!!!) but I thought maybe the other lamp was a super-special lamp of knowledge... like, graduating with a 4.0. I dunno. That's pretty neat about the H, though. So cool to be able to put THAT on your badge!

ETA: I just thought about this. It was always a tradition in my family to pass down the lavalier to your little. Wouldn't it be a cool tradition to pass "up" the big sis dangle to your big?!

I have a colonizing sister dangle, and I wear it with pride! :D

WhiteDaisy128 02-21-2005 10:04 PM

Laura did great! That is exactly what everyone means...the WWW one is for E-Communications as well. I **LOVE** all of the danges, and I think as I get older, I'll appreciate them as memories even more. I wish the Lamp of Knowledge came in white gold...but I figure it looks okay front and center in all my dangles! :)

DGMarie 02-22-2005 12:43 AM

this is my pin the day I got it

AUDeltaGam 02-22-2005 09:04 AM

That is my DREAM PIN! But in white gold ;)

AUDeltaGam 02-24-2005 07:48 PM

Thanks to DGMarie, I know how to take closeups of my badge now! While it's not as close as CJ's pic, it's still pretty darn good! My first dangle (H) is colonizing member, the second one (heart) is for Honor Board and the third (keys) is Social Awareness. I have the director dangle and the big sister dangle on order!

*bump* because in the GC downtime, this didn't get bumped, and I want everyone to see my photographic skills ;)

AnchorAlumna 02-27-2005 01:58 AM

Back in the ancient days when we were initiated, our "pledge trainer" just ordered the same for everybody - crown pearl gold badges with crown pearl gold chapter guards. I love it - it's beautiful. That was when you could ONLY wear your badge above the heart. Then Council changed it so you could wear your badge wherever appropriate - on a lapel, or a scarf, for instance. I ordered a plain gold badge (I think it cost about $12 back then) and still enjoy wearing it on blazers. It's very appropriate for business but still a way to display my DG pride! My dream pin - crown diamond gold! But I have seen an all-diamond white gold - *sigh* - awesome!

I love the white gold! You have very excellent photographic skills! ;)

JenDG 03-14-2005 10:49 PM

I have a crown pearl white gold badge (I'm really surprised at the number of sisters with white gold), I kept it simple though and made my chapter guard in plain white gold. I love it.

Recently I saw a photo of a very old badge that was made prior to the standardization to just diamond and pearl options. It was yellow gold with opals and rubies at the ends...absolutely gorgeous!!! Made me want to have it for my own!!

AUDeltaGam 05-31-2005 04:06 PM

I just added new dangles to my badge:

From left to right: Honor Board, Colonizing Member, Lamp of Knowledge, Social Awareness and Big Sister!

SurfinDBeach 06-16-2005 03:10 AM

Wow...

Wow, those are BEAUTIFUL pins...

notyouraverage 07-28-2006 03:21 PM

*bump* in hopes that more sisters will post their badges - I love looking at them! I will get mine in just a few weeks!

Thank you! I wish I had a chance to wear my badge more, since I love it so much :)

DominoTheta 07-29-2006 12:54 AM

Sorry to barge in, but I must say that you all have very beautiful badges. A good friend I grew up with pledged Delta Gamma at Miss State and I just love her to death. I always thought DG had a gorgeous badge.

ImaDeeGee 08-11-2006 03:45 PM

A link to the past...

At Eta chapter, there is a tradition to pass down a very old badge (it's from 1890) to the outstanding new member from the pledge class. I don't know all of the details behind it's history but I am pretty sure the badge belonged to a sister of Eta chapter and she left it to our chapter when she passed away. A new recipient is chosen with each pledge class and the badge gets passed down. It's a really cool tradition if you ask me!!

I was lucky enough to have this honor bestowed on me during Spring '06 Initiation. The badge is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and it gives me goosebumps whenever I wear it. Not to sound corny, but it fills me with such pride to have a close AND tangible link to the past.

Here are some pictures I took of it today...

http://www.geocities.com/craziek8_82/DGbadgefront.jpg

As you can see it has a mixture of emeralds and seed pearls. I believe there is another type of stone on the badge, but I haven't been able to figure out what it is yet. It has the Eta chapter guard, which is chaised (sp?) as well.

http://www.geocities.com/craziek8_82/DGbadgeback.jpg

I know this isn't the best shot but the back has the initials "ASB" with "1890" beneath it.

Although I will be sad when the times comes for me to pass it on, I know that the excitement I felt when I received it will be lived again through a new Initiate!

AUDeltaGam 08-11-2006 03:56 PM

Oh my gosh, that is GORGEOUS!!!

ImaDeeGee 08-11-2006 07:24 PM

Thank you!! I'm fond of it myself! ;)

AnchorAlumna 08-14-2006 01:46 AM

Wow, Imadeegee, that is a truly beautiful, awesome badge. What a treasure! You're a lucky girl. Wear it proudly!

DGMarie 08-14-2006 05:05 PM

Lovely!

But I'd be sooo afraid I'd lose it!

ImaDeeGee 08-18-2006 09:48 AM

When I first got it, I was terrified that something would happen to it. But luckily, a pin box is also passed down with the badge (and all of the previous owners have signed the box!) to help keep it safe.

I'm hoping that some other sisters will post their badges!! It's really neat to see everyones!

My pin

Well, when I pledged (in 2005) and looked at all the pins, I was determined to have the yellow gold diamond pin...so I bought it all by myself! I just got two dangles for mine, since I was just named Director of Ritual for Alpha Psi. I love to wear my badge as much as I can, and while I do so many people ask about it and have stories to tell of their own. The way I look at it, my diamond badge is sort of a literal and figurative "investment" in my sorority...I have a picture of it and I'd love to post it...but sorry, I don't know how! I can't figure out how to attach it properly, even with the FAQ. :o

CutiePie2000 11-28-2006 12:10 AM

This is the type of badge that I have, here...plain, yet beautiful in its simplicity
http://www.hjgreek.com/assets/images...large/7358.jpg
and I want Mr CP2K to get this for me, because he is a Kappa Sigma alumnus and I want this sweetheart badge to interlink with mine:
http://www.hjgreek.com/assets/images...arge/10083.jpg
It's a Sweetheart's badge and is slightly smaller than what the KS men wear.

 OMG I WANT!!! That is such a beautiful badge!!! I've never seen a white gold one - all of the girls in my chapter have yellow gold pins. Mine is 10K plain yellow gold. I really want the crown pearl badge and seeing one in white gold makes me want one in white gold, too! No dangles...I hope to get an Eta dangle someday, tho.

JennRN 02-29-2008 10:28 PM

You know, I never ever got my badge!! I was initiated 2 years ago, and I still don't have the thing! I sent in the check, but no badge! And I really want it because I loved it when I picked it out-it's the same as AUDeltaGam's.

I have called EO, and have had people from my old alum group look into it at EO as well. Anyone have any ideas on who I could talk to? I have checked the website and can't find who would be best to pester!!

Oh, no, Jenn, that's awful! Keep pestering EO. Just call and talk to the person who answers the phone - she'll get you to the right person. You might also write a formal letter...include a copy of your cancelled check (should be able to get an official copy from the bank). Keep following up. And let us know if you get it!

DGMarie 03-03-2008 12:27 AM

yes something is not right! Check to make sure the check was cashed and then call and complain! You are more patient than I am!
