GLOs founded at the same school

OK, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Phi and Gamma Phi Beta form the Syracuse Triad.

Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu are known as Macon Magnolias

Kappa Kappa Gamma and Pi Beta Phi are known as the Monmouth Duo

I know that there are tons of other GLOs that were founded on the same campus. What are their names?

Delta Kappa Epsilon and Alpha Sigma Phi were founded at Yale College in 1844 and 1845 respectively. Both were originally founded as class societies at Yale; Deke was for juniors while Alpha Sig was for sophomores.

Pi Lambda Phi was founded at Yale in 1895, by that time Alpha Sigma Phi was dormant at Yale, and would not be revived until 1907.

ZZ-kai- 07-28-2004 09:17 AM

Delta Zeta and Phi Kappa Tau were also founded at Miami University.

KA Order was founded at Washington & Lee.

Right on the other two counts.

You ever see the monument in Lexington that commemorates the founding of the three?

Here's an interesting story about it -- and as an ATO, you might get a kick out of it. A Sigma Nu was commissioned by someone to create this monument in Lexington to the triad. He decided on a circle divided into thirds with info on each fraternity in each third. So there was one third of the circle on top, one faced one left and the other right (I can't remember which direction was which). The bronze circle (I think it's bronze) is mounted on some kind of a stone/concrete mounting block.

The Sigma Nu contacted KA Order and told them about the monument and said that he'd give them the side of the circle closest to W&L. They agreed. He contacted ATO and told them that they'd probably want the side of it that was closest to where ATO was founded -- VMI. They also agreed. That left one part of the circle left for the Sigma Nu part of the memorial -- the top :D

Yes, a huge kick out of that story!!! I know as a Sig Nu you get a kick out of the Blackfoot/Whitefoot story ....right?

;)

I knew that KA was founded at Washington Lee but left it out and just put Lexington Triad....anyway.....This semster when Maryland plays either UVA:mad: or VaTech:rolleyes:
I plan on visiting the monument and other chapters.

That wins today's award for the most highly contextual pun. :D

My younger brother is an ATO so I get a unique perspective on the relationship b/w the two groups.

All established at Cornell University. Isn't there an NPC sorority that was founded there? I will add it to my list if someone lets me know.

Sigma Delta Tau was founded at Cornell on March 25, 1917.

Anyone else founded at U of M?

Acacia Fraternity was founded at Michigan 100 years ago.

"The year was 1904. Winston Churchill was 30 years old. Anton Chekov passed away. The United States gained control of the Panama Canal Zone for $10 million. George M. Cohan's song, "The Yankee Doodle Boy," was published. The first Olympic Games ever held in America took place in St. Louis. And on May 12, fourteen Master Masons attending the University of Michigan founded Acacia Fraternity."

And at Iowa State the Jefferson Duo relationship is paving the way for FIJI to help Phi Psi return.
They've invited us to their homecoming pairing and there was some talk during IFC Formal Recruitment about having a Phi Fest.
