Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle

This looks like a great movie. My buddy just saw it tonight and gave it a great review. It's coming out July 30.

I saw them on Leno tonight. They seemed to have had a lot of fun filming it.

There are so many movies I want to see this summer!

ZeroCool 07-28-2004 08:36 AM

These guys seem pretty funny. I just love the premise that they are going to white castle. I'm pretty sure i'll check this one out.

TheEpitome1920 07-28-2004 08:55 AM

Oh the joy of white castle. I don't know what they use in their burgers but it can't be meat.

AlphaSigOU 07-28-2004 09:14 AM

Oh no... roachburgers!!!!

Stick to the chicken rings.

TheEpitome1920 07-28-2004 09:38 AM

White Castle is always a LAST resort when it comes to eating late. Never had their chicken rings.

I didn't think chickens had rings!

Truth in advertising...I love White Castles and am seriously bummed that they aren't available here except the frozen variety in grocery stores.

However, a few years ago, the FDA did a serious study of the meats used by fast food chains and White Castle placed way above most like McDonalds, etc. in quality, nutritional value, etc.

Kevin 07-28-2004 10:11 AM

Rudey, are you being paid for these endorsements? :D

DWAlphaGam 07-28-2004 12:29 PM

mmmmm...White Castle. Haven't had that in ages.

I'm going to see this with my boyfriend. He feels the need to support his people and see any movie with an Indian guy in it.

CarolinaCutie 07-28-2004 01:50 PM

I want to see this movie... I was totally cracked up by the trailer, and it looks funny.

DWAlphaGam 07-28-2004 01:56 PM

Oh, I almost forgot - Neil Patrick Harris, aka Doogie Howser, makes a cameo in the movie. Reason enough for me to see it! :D

sigtau305 07-28-2004 08:03 PM

I saw the Stars of the movie on MTV2's Summertime Gig with Jim Shearer. I might see it.

CarolinaCutie 08-04-2004 12:05 AM

I saw this movie tonight and was pretty disappointed. It wasn't NOT funny... but it wasn't really funny either. There was ONE part towards the end where I laughed really hard, but other than that it was just kinda blah. I expected more, I guess.

On a plus note, both "Harold" and "Kumar" are pretty hot... so yeah.

cutiepatootie 08-04-2004 11:37 PM

Ok what is white castle?

DeltaSigStan 08-05-2004 01:31 AM

I was guessing the majority of people who found this funny wound be...ahem...people like Chris Tucker in Friday.

Each joke was defnitely hit-or-miss, but I found it to be relatively funny, not as good as Old School, but beter than Anchorman.

I may be comparing apples to oranges, but they are all comedies.....

It's a fast food chain that makes tiny square burgers (the picture below is about life size). I think it's bigger on the east coast.

We used to have a White Castle, but it closed. :( The frozen ones just aren't the same.

I hate most White Castle food but I've got to agree on the chicken rings. Their onion rings aren't too bad either. And they've got good mozzarella cheese sticks.

Rudey 08-05-2004 11:04 AM

One guy is a banker from what I hear and the other is following his dad's footsteps to med school.

How can I not love that? Plus one of the screenplay writer's was from my school.

"The movie's screenplay is by 26-year-old roommates Hayden Schlossberg and Jon Hurwitz, best friends from their high school days in Randolph, N.J. Though familiar with the business end of a bong, the filmmakers are certainly high achievers. Hurwitz, a finance major at the University of Pennsylvania, planned on becoming an investment banker. Schlossberg, a history major at University of Chicago, was going to be a lawyer. But in their senior year they sold a screenplay, and to Hollywood they moved"

ahh i loved it! the dude who played Harold is very hot....

We don't have White Castle in Texas ( or in NC ), so I have to ask: what is a chicken ring?? It sounds sort of icky....

No no no hon...its grilled chicken in the shape of a ring. Nothing icky to it.

kk_bama 08-06-2004 04:25 PM

Does anyone know if White Castle is the same as Krystal down South?

Krystal does the small square burger thing too.

Are they owned by the same people, or what?

The secret ingredient in "sliders" is liver pate...steamed with onions.

It is an acquired taste. When I was a kid, the first place we would go when visiting my grandparents was White Castle :), cause they were only available near my parents hometown.

Last time I visited my parents, my dad took the boys to WC and my youngest son is hooked!

Krystal & White Castle are rivals! I'm not sure if they are owned by the same people but their food is similar. Krystal has some rockin' french fries compared to White Castle's! We have several Krystals & White Castles in Kentucky but I have noticed the farther south I go the less White Castles I see!

Rudey 08-07-2004 02:51 AM

I liked it. I mean it wasn't the greatest movie ever but it's a movie that several groups can connect to. 2nd generation Americans and people like that will connect to it. A lot of investment bankers can connect to how Harold felt. A lot of kids who had doctors as parents can connect to it.

I guess I saw it just as a fun movie. Oscar worthy? No. DVD worthy? Very much.

--Follow the movie up with a couple hits and burgers.

SigEp1104 08-07-2004 10:14 PM

i saw it today and i thought it was ok.i think the funniest part was when they were singing the wilson phillips song

The whole thing was funny except what didn't make it a great way was that there was just jokes and none of the jokes were connected. I mean the whole idea of freakshow wanting a gang bang to them riding a cheetah through the woods is hilarious.

There's a radio station in the Quad Cities that every year gets private planes to volunteer to fly to the nearest White Castle to buy and pick up burgers and fly them back (somewhere around 100mi from there in bum-creek Illinois)... Seems like everyone and their dog orders and they keep track and award a prize to the department/company that orders the most burgers, etc.

I'm in Columbus, Ohio - never had a slider (new to town) if you've never had one come on over we can share one together. LMAO.

ewww...I only trust their chicken. No "sliders" for me.

Although I hear their fish isn't that bad.

I had Krystal's when i was in New Orleans and I loved their chicken sandwich! Nothing better than a couple of sandwiches after drinking! I'm going to New York for the first time next month, so I'll get to compare between White Castle and Krystal! :)

Welcome to Columbus :D

Yesterday I drove by a Whitey's and their sign read:

Harold and Kumar ate here!

CASIGKAP 08-11-2004 01:39 AM

Well I just saw the movie & I'm still pondering how in the hell Ebert & Roeper gave it 2 thumbs up. I don't get it.
My boyfriend has now asked me to verify if girls really do play the You sank my battleshit game. I told him repeatedly that we don't but he insists that it's different at sorority houses.

Well I don't think they did give it two thumbs up but they should have. It's a good movie.

That's the part at the end I was talking about... I laughed so hard and loud during this part!

DWAlphaGam 08-17-2004 08:55 AM

I saw it this past weekend, and it was pretty funny. Although, I did not think the cheetah part was funny at all. If a movie can jump the shark, that's where it happened. However, Neil Patrick Harris totally made up for it. "The Doogie Howser line works every time. Laaaaap Daaaance!" :D
