That was my first thought...followed by Moe.

They always IMPLY that Smithers is gay, but have never straight out (no pun intended) said it.

I'm guessing this will be a joke to confirm what we've known for years.

It's gotta be Smithers. Maybe he and Mr. Burns will tie the knot.

That's a good guess! I never thought of that. Maybe they marry each other? ;)

You got to remember, this is 2004 Simpsons, not the brilliant Simpsons of the early 90s. They'll try anything these days (I feel it's because Matt and James' success is so huge they've gotten arrogant, like Vince McMahon).

With that in mind, if the theory that it is one of Marge's sisters, there's only one thing I can guess:


Patty will marry Celma.

Good point. I think Selma is the sister that has never been married or into men - unlike Pattie. I know Patti married Troy McClure and someone else, but I can't remember.

Maybe its Granpa. He did kick it in Miami with a gay man just a few weeks ago. ;)

I could see Otto struggling with these issues, but I think the best choice for lots of good follow-up episodes would be either Rod or Tod Flanders.

Even though I know some said that it probably won't be a kid, I forgot all about MARTIN! He is always skipping around singing and doing stuff that gets him beat up alot.

But there's no telling. Watch it be someone totally out the blue, like Fat Tony or someone.

I think it will be someone we least expect, but they won't get married.

Maybe it's the guy who works with Apu?

Since the episode focuses around gay marriage, I don't think it's going to be a kid.

Oh god, I hope they don't do that. If they put so much hype around this episode and it turns out it Smithers, fans are going to be pissed. If that's the case, they should just make it the series finale.

I'm voting for Lenny or Carl, Smithers is just too obvious
