I wouldn't drink that even if I had a gun to my head!

What alcoholic drinks tastes or sounds absolutely NASTY?

I'm not a fan of rum & coke.

101 degrees in the shade (beer, tabasco, vodka, tomato juice) makes me gag just thinking about it.

33girl 07-26-2004 10:53 AM

Ouzo. Gross.

_Lisa_ 07-26-2004 11:04 AM

Irish Carbombs sound nasty but taste GREAT! :)

swissmiss04 07-26-2004 11:05 AM

Everclear 151

GeekyPenguin 07-26-2004 11:06 AM

I'm ashamed to say there are very few things I won't drink...but I CANNOT stand cement mixers. Ugh.

jharb 07-26-2004 11:06 AM

On my pseudo-birthday (well it was two days later) they kept trying to get me to do a dirty sailor. It's a shot of Tequila with a drop of mayo in it. It makes my stomach turn just thinking of it. :o

They taste good regardless of how they feel.

TrueBlueKappa 07-26-2004 11:23 AM

Call me a wimp, but I can't drink beer for the life of me. I hate the taste! Give me anything else in the world but a beer and I'm happy. :)

Taualumna 07-26-2004 11:24 AM

Mike's Hard Lemonade (actually Mike's anything)...EWWWW

ZTAngel 07-26-2004 11:26 AM

A straight shot of Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum.

After drinking one too many night after night at the Kappa Sig parties, my stomach can no longer tolerate it.

What's wrong with Mike's? There are a million worse tasting things.

I completely agree... gimme a hard lemonade, and I'll be happy. ;)

Lady Pi Phi 07-26-2004 11:46 AM

I haven't had any really bad tasting drinks, but the one thing I won't drink is Boomerang (I had a bad experience).

ADPiShannan 07-26-2004 11:48 AM

ditto on the cement mixer. That is the ultimate worst ever.... They made my hubbys best friend drink 2 of those when he was wasted once and he puked all over. The taste makes me gag thinking about it now.

I like most drinks, love everclear lol, but I wont have a cement mixer. I dont like long island iced teas either.

Long Islands are so good! I also like Long Beaches which instead of Coke have cranberry juice! mmm! :)

APhi Sailorgirl 07-26-2004 12:03 PM

Yeah can't drink beer, it must be my girliness coming out.

Mike's never drinking that again if possible, had a cranberry something and it made my stomach and throat burn. It was weird and definitely not fun.

Wish it was ok to drink at my desk... ;)

ISUKappa 07-26-2004 12:23 PM

Ditto on the cement mixers.

Jager. Unless it's really, really cold. (I loathe anything anise flavored)

Bicardi Limon. Had a bad, bad, bad experience with this freshman year.

Now, I actually think the 101 degrees in the shade sounds pretty good, basically a bloody mary with beer. And that's basically how I drink my bloody marys anyway (I alternate every other round with a Miller Lite).

Oh, and Strip and Go Nakeds sound really bad (Beer, vodka and lemonade) but are really pretty good!

Xylochick216 07-26-2004 12:34 PM

I can't drink red wine. A friend of mine had a box of it on his birthday and promptly puked it up and had a horrible night. Every time I even smell red wine it makes me think of cleaning up after him. Ugh...

honeychile 07-26-2004 12:46 PM

I drink nothing that contains gin or tequila, and there's a shot glass drink called a Brain that I can't handle. blech.

KellyB369 07-26-2004 12:48 PM

No Jager for me and definitey no Jager bombs!

sugar and spice 07-26-2004 02:05 PM

Anything with tequila. I've had enough bad experiences with it that you don't want me anywhere near it.

You've thrown up in Spanish, too?

Never, ever again!!

Jagermeister = cringe, I'm a Jim Beam-Jack Daniels man myself.

Would you eat food cooked in your own urine? Food scientists working for the US military have developed a dried food ration that troops can hydrate by adding the filthiest of muddy swamp water or even peeing on it.

The ration comes in a pouch containing a filter that removes 99.9 per cent of bacteria and most toxic chemicals from the water used to rehydrate it, according to the Combat Feeding Directorate, part of the US Army Soldier Systems Center in Natick, Massachusetts. This is the same organisation that created the "indestructible sandwich" that will stay fresh for three years (New Scientist print edition, 10 April 2002).

The aim is to reduce the amount of water soldiers need to carry. One day's food supply of three meals, weighs 3.5 kilograms but that can be reduced to about 0.4 kilograms with the dehydrated pouches, says spokeswoman Diane Wood.

The pouch - containing chicken and rice initially - relies on osmosis to filter the water or urine. When two solutions of different concentrations are separated by a semipermeable membrane, with gaps that allow only water molecules to pass through, the water is drawn to the more concentrated side.

The membranes are made of thin sheets of a cellulose-based plastic, with gaps between the fibres that are just 0.5 nanometres across, too small for bacteria to pass through.

A hungry soldier pours dirty water into one end of a foil sachet containing two inner pouches separated by the membrane. The water seeps through the membrane into the dehydrated food on the other side. As it dissolves large molecules in the food, it creates a very high concentration solution. The osmotic pressure created then draws more water through the membrane.

Hydration Technology of Albany, Oregon, which makes the membrane, says soldiers should only use urine in an absolute emergency because the membrane is too coarse to filter out urea.

The body will not find this toxic over the short term, says Ed Beaudry, an engineer with HTI, but rehydrating food this way in the long term would cause kidney damage.

Would ya do it if you were thrown into the most desperate situation?

KSigkid 07-26-2004 02:18 PM

Probably Everclear...I'm not a big fan of tequila straight (even good tequila), but I like it mixed into drinks.

valkyrie 07-26-2004 02:35 PM

I really, really dislike gin and anything anise flavored.

seraphimsprite 07-26-2004 02:48 PM

I can't drink Southern Comfort - one bad experience ruined it for me. Same thing with Ouzo. ick.

GMUBunny 07-26-2004 03:03 PM

No tequila or gin. I'm getting used to the taste of beer even though my stomach used to turn at the smell of it. I am an Irish Car Bomb addict. I absolutely LOVE them.

FiReKraCkEr 07-26-2004 03:15 PM

I would say gin and vodka...it turns me spotchy red all over and I get tipsy after only a shot of it.

I'm more of a rum or brown liquor gal. Morgan, Jack, and Jim are all my friends.

I hate hate hate red wine. The taste makes me gag.

I like beer, I like beer a lot.

I can't drink red wine either. I'm allergic to it.

AXJules 07-26-2004 03:21 PM

The only thing I refuse to drink is whiskey. That, and the shot where they squeeze the bar rag into a shot glass (name??) .

Other than that, I'm game.

Sister Havana 07-26-2004 03:28 PM

Beer. I've never liked it.

Jagermeister. Drank it once and it came right back up.

SSS1365 07-26-2004 03:32 PM

Anything coconut flavored makes me want to puke. I just can't stand the taste... too sweet or something. Also can't stand lemony malt beverages such as Smirnoff Ice or Mike's Hard Lemonade. If I drink them along with anything else I will throw up. I don't know what it is about them.

Irish Car Bombs sound really nasty, but everyone says it's so good so I might have to try it.

Amen!

I absolutely cannot drink:

Tequila (unless it's 100%, and even then the smell makes me nauseous because my stomach can't handle the high sugar content)
Beer (I try to tolerate Corona, but even that's painful)

I am the biggest wuss EVAR.

I think it's called a Hairy Buffalo.

adpialumcsuc 07-26-2004 03:38 PM

I thought that beer was one of the only drinks I could drink but after reading some of the other drinks I think there is a lot more.
The dirty Sailor and hairy buffalo just sound wrong

I've heard about it done with the bar mats and it was called... a Bar Mat. I've never actually seen proof of these shots existing though.

That said, I don't really like dark liquors (except for dark/spiced rum) although I was on a bit of a whiskey on the rocks kick for a while last summer. I didn't get sick or anything but now the smell of it makes my stomach turn.
