Different Names for Recruitment Guides

We call ours Rho Gamma's... what about yours?

Also, does anyone know why they have different names at different school? Any particular reasons?

EDIT: Rho Gamma for us = Recruitment Guide's

Because NPC made everyone get rid of Rho Chi, but didn't come up with a definitive replacement term that everyone should use.

This is the name that Panhel suggested campus' use. It was in last spring's publication, I believe the UP-Date.

We call ours just plain Recruitment Counselor or RC.

AUDeltaGam 07-26-2004 10:39 AM

Auburn uses Pi Chi

jharb 07-26-2004 10:46 AM

Butler University uses Recruitment Counselor. All the shirts and stuff have Recruitment Counselor on them, it works out easier because girls don't seem to get confused and think that they are a separate sorority. LOL! (Butler is 1/3 greek, but a lot of girls aren't necessarily familliar with greek life)

Valdosta uses (hee hee) Gamma Chi.:D

Same here. It eliminates a lot of confusion.

Edited due to coding ineptitude.

Ole Miss uses Gamma Chi for Greek Counselor...

LuvUTrulyKKG 07-26-2004 03:36 PM

At Furman, we use "Alpha Zeta," because they know everything from A to Z that you could want to know about sororities and recruitment. I am not sure if our Panhellenic knew about the organization that is already called Alpha Zeta...

I had heard NPC game up with Rho Gamma for Recruitment Guide. The problem is they didn't make it mandatory or clear enough so the college panhel's came up with their own.

Saint Louis U uses Pi Chi for Panhellenic Counselor.

I think guide makes more sense since "counselor" sounds more like a certified/legal term.

My school switched from Rho Chi to Pi Rho Chi a couple of years ago.

lonestaradpi 07-28-2004 04:17 PM

???

Okay, help an old lady out. I was a Rho Chi. I haven't been in college in a few years and I've been totally out of touch of NPC rules. Why did they make everyone get rid of Rho Chi? Thanks for helping me out!

emleepc 07-28-2004 04:23 PM

University of North Alabama uses Gamma Chi---Greek Counselor. I was a Gamm Chi last summer and it was one of the most awesome experiences I've had.

triskit03 07-28-2004 04:27 PM

Our school (Stephen F. Austin) uses Rho Beta Sigma for Recruitment Big Sis

ShaedyKD 07-28-2004 04:32 PM

University of South Florida uses Pi Chi for Panhellenic Counselor. This started 2 years ago in Summer 2002 (and I was in the first group to be called Pi Chis!)

Here's the cheer we always did, cause I love it!:
P-I C-H-I, Pi Chi, Pi Chi, til we die!
We're the best, we never rest,
Til our new girls find their nest!
Piiiiiiiiiiiiiii Chi!

I've heard different reasons, but I know Rho Chi is a pharmaceutical company. I'm not sure if that's the real reason though.

roqueemae 09-04-2004 10:27 PM

I am a Greek Affairs Grad Assistant and we had trouble coming up with a name until we went to SEPC (Southeastern Panhellenic Conference). There we found so much stuff with Gamma Chi on it, we decided to use that.

I looked up the Rho Chi thing in a listing of GLO's and it is a Professional Pharmacist Society. That is why the change was suggested.

A fun tidbit- our Gamma Chi's decided to make it (GC) a sorority for the summer. They came up with a ritual for "pledging and some symbols. They decided on tangerine and pearl as official colors, the penguin as a mascot, and gerber daisies as the flower (none of these overlapped with a chapter on campus). The girls had so much fun collecting their new sorority paraphanalia!

RUASTgrrl 09-06-2004 10:07 AM

We used to have Rho Chis for years, and they changed it b/c of the Pharm.Org. so I heard. Now we have Rho Deltas = Recruitment Director. There is still all these PX letters floating around out there. we were a big letter wearing campus:D

ADPiAkron 09-06-2004 11:46 AM

At The University of Akron they are called Rho Gamma's-- Rho Gam's for short!!

It's still so funny for me to hear them called Rho Gammas....when I went through at Valpo in 2000, they were Rho Chi's, and I think the first year they became Rho Gammas was 2003, the year after I graduated. :)

dzjessdz 09-09-2004 04:48 PM

At USI we call it "going Rho Gam" and it's officially Rho Gamma, recruitment guide.

Same here-- when I went through in 1996 they were Rho Chi's and they were Rho Chi's until I graduated! Sometimes I still say Rho Chi-- the girls get what I am saying and chalk it up to me being "old"!! ;)
