Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

This title is confirm during the San Diego Comic Convention. Let's hope it's better then Episode 1 and 2.

PhiPsiRuss 07-25-2004 01:33 PM

Could it be any worse? Only if Jar Jar Binks coaches the Ewok synchronized swim team.

It could've been Star Wars Episode III: The Rise of Jar Jar Binks.

chideltjen 07-25-2004 11:41 PM

It better be good. It's got a lot of "loose ends" to make the prequels tie with the originals. I could dream, but it will probably just be some big CGI mess that I will run to see at the midnight showing like everyone else.

At least you can accept the truth. Don't feel bad though, everyone who knows it will disappoint and everyone knows they'll still pay to see it as soon as humanly possible.

Okay, so I'm a big Star Wars nerd. I was so excited about Episode II that we purchased tickets for opening day in advance. We got in and found 5 seats together, sat down and I find I'm crying once the lights go down and the film starts. Naturally the boys and DH thought I was insane :) I spend the next 2 hours almost in shock until the final 20 minutes hit and it's finally somewhat worth watching. The credits roll and I start crying again from the sheer disappointment of the experience.

Even so, I'll be buying tickets in advance for the first showing after school on opening day for Episode III. It can't be any worse than the last one, because we actually have an idea of how this one is gonna end.

On the other hand, I'm a big James Bond fan. For the past 25 years I've kept up a tradition of watching the latest adventure of 007 on opening day. Must be that rousing 'gunbarrel theme' that keeps me going back... :)

I must be the only person who liked Jar Jar Binks.

I'm no fan of these prequels. They seem to be clearly aimed at a different audience than were eps 4,5 and 6.

The fart jokes just don't belong in SW.

breathesgelatin 07-26-2004 11:26 AM

This is interesting. I hope it's better than I and II. Although I actually thought II was decent. (I just sucked). I'm a HUGE SW fan and I hope that this is finally what we've been looking for in a prequel.

PsychTau 07-26-2004 03:09 PM

The funny thing is that these were all written at the same time as Episodes 4, 5,and 6. They were all written as one great big project.....so I don't know if they weren't really all that interesting back then when first concocted or if someone has "tinkered" with the screenplays in an attempt to make them appeal to today's audiences.

In my opinion, you watch these prequels because you are some sort of Star Wars fan and you know something about it to begin with. I think they would disappoint most people who were clueless about Star Wars (which may be why Eps 4-6 were released first). In any case, I love them because I'm a big fan of Eps 4-6 and I want to see where it all began (but to me they're not as good as Eps 4-6).

There.....I've rambled for the day. Thank you.

It was, and the last 45 minutes of II was absolutely amazing.

If Lucas leaves out the cute stuff aimed at ten year old kids, and embraces the dark side, III will win him Best Picture. He can't do romance, and Disneyesque garbage drags Star Wars films down. He needs to kick out a 2 hour long movie with a dark streak. He can do it. He did it in IV and V. He just needs to do it one more time.

What he needs to do is let somebody else direct this one. he can't do dark movies. The Empire Strikes Back is the best one in the series. It was dark and no happy ending. Maybe Irvin Kershner should direct Eps. 3.

After watching the new ending for Return of the Jedi, and seeing George Lucas smile as he talked about how much fun making the next, dark film is, I'm encouraged.

Empire Strikes Back is definitely the best (so far.) If Lucas can keep the cheese out (which I believe he can because he reduced the cheese from Phantom Menace to Attack of the Clones,) embrace the Dark Side of movie making (which he seems to have done,) and just work his magic, we're in for a 2 hour long roller coaster ride. :)

Trailer is apparently getting show in The Incredibles this weekend. I'm going!

But they released the trailer today. I had a co-worker download the trailer before the sites crashed and I got some screen caps.

I so cant wait for this and the "greatest sound effect" is back in good form. (For those who don't get it, James Earl Jones only consider's himself a sound effect).

I just saw the teaser trailer, actually is on my computer right now. I'm very encouraged.

I am going to the Celebration in Indianapolis in April and hopefully this time I can visit founder's row!

Rumor are abound that 7,8 and 9 will also be made.

yes I am a SW geek, moving closer and closer to nerd. :D

Those pic look sweet. Since I'm a proud Star Wars dork, here are some "theory" about what actually made Anakin turn to the dark side.:

I think that this has the best chance to actually be good for the simple fact that it will show far less of the diploomacy and posturing that was done in the first two to get the Republic where it needed to be to give total control to Palpatine.

I think what happened is that most people, myself included went to these movies ready to see a variation of Ep. 4, 5 and 6. Boy were we disappointed. These movies had a different purpose not action like the originals but more of a drama with some action elements. This leads me to conclude that Lucas started with A New Hope because he knew to start with Phantom Menace he would only be making one movie.

Outside of the cheesy stuff I feel that the movies served their purpose. Lucas should been more proactive in setting everyone straight that the purpose of the first two will be to simply show the diplomatic conditions of the Republic whereas the third will have more of the action elements.

He very well may have said it but I surely missed it.

That is part of the reason why I am seeing the movie tonight. A trailer in the theater beats watching it on a Mac with bad speakers. :D

astroAPhi 11-06-2004 12:37 PM

I saw the trailer last night. Oh. My. God. If I had a load to blow, I would have.

You should make that your GC signature.

That trailer makes me want to camp out for this movie NOW, and I always mock the people who camp out for Star Wars movies. I guess this traler will just bring out the Star Wars dork in all of us.

chideltjen 11-06-2004 04:26 PM

Saw the trailer full screen last night.

The whole audience started CHEERING after it. But I think not everyone knew it was playing because the people next to me let out this huge *gasp* when they saw "Lucasfilm" show up.

But yeah... *happy dance!!!* Sooooo counting down the days.

ASUADPi 11-08-2004 12:53 PM

The teaser trailer is available for all to see on starwars.com. Immediately when you go to the site there is a page that say's teaser trailer. Just click on it, chose your size and enjoy!!!!!

Counting down till May 19th, 2005

omegamcgee 11-08-2004 01:37 PM

So, I really LOVE the story in all the episodes. The problem is, the last two have had other bad elements. The casting in Episode I was a huge problem, as the little boy was supposed to look 9, not 5. And Jar Jar was annoying, although he did play an important part in II. And I really did love Episode II. The acting was not excellent, but I've seen both Natalie Portman and Hayden Christianson is other movies, and they were wonderful, so it must have been the director. The story is moving along perfectly, and I love it. Also, I saw the Episode III trailer last night, and it was great. It's all coming together so well!

No, that is not how it happened... It is in the original Star Wars books from 1977...

Also in EP1, they found that high level of "chit" in Anakin's blood--over and above the BEST of the BEST Jedis... So, it sounds like a Sith got busy with Anakin's mother and left her and Anakin to fend for themselves in Mos Eseley, Tattooine...

Obi Wan and his preceptor (Liam Neesom) found the child inadvertantly...

But then, the Evil Emperor is Anakin's Dad--but that's my theory...

Wow. I never thought of that. That's a really cool idea. maybe in Epsiode III will have dialogue like
"Anakin, do you know what happened to your father?"
"I know what happened. You killed him!"
"No Anakin, I am your father!"

I really don't forsee that happening.

Part of the reason that Anikan is so special is because he fulfills a prophesy of the Jedis given thousands of years ago. The prophesy speaks of the One, who will "be of Virgin birth, and will bring balance back to the Force" Anikan brings balance back to the force in Ep. 6, as Vader, when he kills the Emperor, allowing Luke to become the most powerful person in the Force.

Bumping because I saw this.

Is this "trailer" anything different from what they showed during "The Incredibles?"

I'm just not a huge fan of The O.C...

ASUADPi 03-01-2005 09:18 PM

I'm not an OC fan but just to watch the trailer I'll record and fast forward until I find the trailer. LOL.

What they released for the Incredibles was the teaser trailer. The trailer is much longer.

AOIIalum 03-10-2005 10:47 PM

Has the trailer aired yet?

astroAPhi 03-11-2005 12:14 AM

Oh yes. It made every little Star Wars fan squeal with delight, and geek websites the world over to crash.

chideltjen 03-11-2005 12:34 AM

Can I get an idea of when it will air? (beginning, middle, end?) I've got TiFaux going and I don't want to FF through a ton of crap.

BetteDavisEyes 03-11-2005 02:43 AM

I nearly shite my pants watching it. I'm sooooo excited about it. I am proud to admit that I'm a Star Wars nerd. :D ;) :p

chideltjen 03-11-2005 04:02 AM

GAHHHH! Fox ran over so the TiFaux missed it!!!!! ARG. Well not all of it... but I missed the last 15 seconds of it or so.

ms_gwyn 03-11-2005 05:20 AM

For those who missed the trailer (and aren't that internet savy ;) ), just pm me and I will send you the torrent link for it.

of course by tomorrow morning...every fanboy website on the net will have a link, esp....Aintitcool.com

but just in case.....:)
