Shows YOU feel shouldn't have lasted as long as they did

Not to say that they were COMPLETELY bad (My list has some of my favorite shows), but, they just overstayed their welcome.

1) The Cosby Show (I loved the majority of the show, but when cousin Pam and Olivia came, it jumped the shark)

2) The Simpsons (They're redoing the same plots from previous seasons, they've run out of ideas, and are using the show to make political statements. Make the movie and end it already)

3) Married With Children (Should've ended before Seven came)

4) Trashy Talk Shows like Springer (The novelty is done, the fighting is boring. Only Maury rules because paternity tests are always funny)

5) Friends (Sorry, just never got the appeal)

Ronso 07-22-2004 02:21 PM

The X-Files - It was much better when it was episodic opposed to over-cooked conspiracy theories and govenment intrigue. It's off but should have gone sooner.

Agreed. I was a huge fan, but stopped watching after season 4 because it got weird and stupid.

Good choices...

Law and Order is the world's greatest drama but with all the spin offs its just getting out of control. I don't even watch the new ones, just watch re-runs on TNT.

RedHot 07-22-2004 02:26 PM

Full House when Jessie married Rebecca. Do you really think they would opt to live in an attic over getting their own house?

I'd say it's when they brought MORE twins to the show, not immediately after the marriage that involved a parachute and a tomato truck.

Lady Pi Phi 07-22-2004 02:31 PM

I'm going to add 2 of my own.

Beverly Hills 90210

Melrose Place.

I used to watch 90210, but when they went off to college it just started getting ridiculous.

I hated Melrose Place. It was so stupid and I never understood the appeal.

DZTUBAGIRL 07-22-2004 02:40 PM

I love this show but it just went on too long...

Saved By The Bell...after they went to college it was stupid. And what were they thinking with that New Class crap...what a waste of airtime.

What are you talking about? Much like Rocky V, those two shows never happened ;)

ZTAngel 07-22-2004 02:44 PM

Beverly Hills 90210
Full House
ER (Can someone please take this show off the air? It's soooo bad now!)

APhi Sailorgirl 07-22-2004 02:45 PM

Ally McBeal (just didn't like it)
Smallville (ok guys, either figure it out and make it normal or get rid of it)

KSigkid 07-22-2004 02:48 PM

ER has gone too far - it's WAY over the edge now, not even enjoyable anymore.

cuaphi 07-22-2004 03:02 PM

The Simpsons still rule. Friends should have ended a season sooner than it did, when they originally planned to end it.

I HATED Suddenly Susan and Caroline in the City and never understood how they lasted as long as they did.

Also, I agree with you guys: Ally McBeal, 90210 and Melrose Place all jumped the shark way before they were taken off the air.

moe.ron 07-22-2004 03:04 PM

All those shows that ties in to another show. Like 90210 all of its offsprings.

smiley21 07-22-2004 03:21 PM

NYPD Blue

Family Matters (when Laura started falling in love with Steve, it was just bad. then they had to bring in a new Harriet. STUPID!! the show just got really awful)

Dawson's Creek ( i thank God that i never got sucked into this show. i thought it was so corny)

RedHot 07-22-2004 03:27 PM

Dawsons Creek-In my opinion when Jack became gay, it just played off of stereo types with him calling Jen his "fag hag"

Family Matters-when Steve becomes Stephan

Step by Step- when Dana (Stacy Kenan) dyes her hair bleach blond then they make her character a b word....

Also all the shows we've mention had negative stero types of greeks!

90210 Steve joins KEG! The girls make up their own sorority because Andrea gets shunned for being jewish....

Step by Step: A sorority that Karen wants won't let her join with out Dana for her gpa

sageofages 07-22-2004 03:29 PM

Any soap opera.........daytime or primetime

madmax 07-22-2004 03:41 PM

3rd Rock From the Sun.
Friends.
The View.

WCUgirl 07-22-2004 03:46 PM

As much as it pains me to say this....I agree w/ everyone who said 90210. Once they graduated high school, the script just got way cheesy (Dylan marrying the daughter of the man who killed his father? Okay, Dylan marrying anyone is a stretch by itself.)

I also agree about Saved By the Bell. I'm w/ DeltaSigStan....as far as I'm concerned, they graduated hs and the show ended.

Peaches-n-Cream 07-22-2004 03:49 PM

When Mark died, ER was over for me.
When Ricky Shroeder died, NYPD Blues was over for me.
LA Law was bad in its last season or two.

I still like Law & Order.

CSUSigEp 07-22-2004 04:03 PM

COPS! Seriously though this show is just mindless. Numerous stereotypes too...

PM_Mama00 07-22-2004 04:35 PM

Ugh. I can't believe I'm saying this, because it's so awesome and it's been on for SO LONG.

Days of our Lives.

All the character changes are RUINING the show.

This new spin-off of Jackass too... the one with Steve in teh wilderness. If I wanted to see that, I'd turn on Animal Planet.

chideltjen 07-22-2004 05:27 PM

I will also throw in my two cents about 90210. I watched it religiously until they went to college. Then Donna and David had sex and it just kinda all went downhill from there.

Dawson's Creek... I never got into it... but my friends did. Never understood why.

adpialumcsuc 07-22-2004 06:44 PM

Ally Mcbeal and Frasier.
I used to watch Frasier and lost interest a long before they finally ended.

tinydancer 07-23-2004 12:38 AM

Saturday Night Live. I remember when we wouldn't go anywhere on Sat. night or if we did, we went after it was over. It's not nearly as good now.

ER needs to just give it up now. Hasn't been good in some time. This was another show I rushed home to watch every week.

I never cared for Friends or Seinfeld, either.

FiReKraCkEr 07-23-2004 01:12 AM

ER...I thought it was cancelled like 3 years ago? It isnt? Wow...

honeychile 07-23-2004 01:18 AM

still love my ER...!

I'm in on Beverly Hills 90210, especially after Brenda left the show. And her not showing up for her twin's wedding? Please! Did these writers not know ANYTHING about twins?

As for Dylan marrying Rebecca Gayheart, she is SO good looking! I'm just amazed that she doesn't get more roles!

Seinfeld lost me after a couple of years, as did the Cosby show, and more that I'm forgetting.

CatStarESP4 07-23-2004 01:35 AM

The Nanny - should have ended after its first season

Everyone Loves Raymond - I don't find this one funny

AOII*Azra-elle 07-23-2004 02:21 AM

Okay, my list would be enough said:
Passions
Days of Our Lives
Any reality tv show like survivor, or big brother (although Outback Jack is kind of funny)
Those you win a million dollar shows! C'mon, make me feel anymore poor already!
Seinfeld *enough said on that one*

Sister Havana 07-23-2004 03:40 AM

FULL HOUSE. I never got the appeal of that show.

The Nanny should have never started at all.

Everybody Loves Raymond sucked. I find it very bland.

Ohhhhh man I would have to disagree. I like the Wildboyz just as much as I liked Jackass. But I would definitely ditto Days... I don't watch it but my roommate does, and even I can see that the show is getting suckier by the minute.

chideltjen 07-23-2004 11:00 AM

Surprised no one mentioned Boy Meets World. I mean I liked it in the beginning, but as soon as Corey and Topanga hooked up, it lost it's appeal. I did have a crush on Rider Strong as a tween, but the rest of the show I could do without.

yeah when cory and topanga got married, that was just cheesy

Oh my god, I completely forgot about that one. Boy Meets World was my show! It got *really* bad after they went to college...it should have just ended before it majorly sucked. I still watched it until the end though.

Reno 911! looks like the worst show ever.
Mad TV was okay for like 2 seasons, but it really sucks now. Especially since it's *all* they play on Comedy Central now.
Malcolm in the Middle has gotten really crappy. And I agree, the Simpsons isn't nearly as fun as it used to be.

Can't think of any others right off...

DeltAlum 07-23-2004 02:28 PM

SuperTrain.

AXOKatie 07-23-2004 05:29 PM

Oh good LORD Boy Meets World went on EONS longer than it should have...after the fourth time that cory and topanga broke up, they should've stopped...p.s. does anyone know if topanga and Matt Lawrence are still dating?

Taualumna 07-23-2004 05:48 PM

Any reality show

Danielle Fishel and Matt Lawrence are/were dating? I never knew that, and I've been a fan of 'Boy' since the series premiere.
