NFL Season Comin up!

anyone here starting up a fantasy league?? just started mine the other day and will be having a nice offline draft in a few weeks. wondering what ya'lls picks were gonna be. I actually think that Corey Dillon might be a nice bet for this year. being a Giants fan, I have to pull for my fantasy team to do well bc the g-men will surely fall short this year....

so what are your thoughts?

NickLc24 07-22-2004 01:36 PM

I haven't kept up as much as I would have liked this off-season but oh well. Darn Dolphins better play some better offense, Ricky can't do everything!

KSigkid 07-22-2004 02:00 PM

I'm a Giants fan too, and I'm not optimistic about things. I HATE Kurt Warner and am not happy at all he's going to be starting. I'm hoping Eli has a quick development.

I'd like to see how Dillon is in N.E. and T.O. is in Philly. If they are as good as advertised, I think we could be seeing a Philly/N.E. Super Bowl.

DeltaSigStan 07-22-2004 02:00 PM

The Patriots, led by TWO-TIME, TWO-TIME Super Bowl MVp Tom Brady, are 5-2 odds to repeat. What does this mean?

Absolutely nothing.

BUT, this is going to be a great year. So many stars have switched teams, it's going to be great seeing the blue-collar TEAM of Foxboro destroy them.

Ah, a fellow Giant fan. I hope that they just put in Eli. I'd rather see him get kicked around than watch Warner choke for 16 weeks.

Anyway, how nice would it be to see Eddie George come to the Giants??? AMAZING!! Though I hear he's, sadly, thinking of going to Eagles. What crap!

Philly won't be in the Super Bowl. "Kordel" McNabb and Andy "Kotite" will choke in the NFC Championship.

ZeroCool 07-22-2004 05:40 PM

I couldn't hope for a more beautiful thing....the eagles continual choke is something that I pray for on a daily basis.

Sister Havana 07-22-2004 05:59 PM

Can't wait!

It will be interesting to see how the Bears fare under their new coach. I hope there are plays in the new playbook that require making passes over 9 yards. :)

Co-Sign - I like McNabb, but I can't stand the Eagles (or the Redskins or Cowboys for that matter).

Thrillhouse 07-22-2004 11:56 PM

This has been the best offseason ever for this eagles fan and I am glad they are good enough to have Andy Ried coach the NFC in the pro bowl for the 4th straight season;)

ZeroCool 07-23-2004 11:41 AM

Yeah thats true. I heard that the redrew the district lines in Philly and that the eagles stadium is in Chokesville, PA now. Sounds about right.

;)

Lil' Hannah 07-23-2004 11:53 AM

I. need. football. I prefer NCAA to NFL, but I'll take anything. I'm curious to see how the Redskins will do this season with Gibbs back.

SmartBlondeGPhB 07-23-2004 04:25 PM

I CAN'T WAIT

My season tickets should be coming any day now and I am so excited for the season to be underway.

Hopefully, we'll play better on the road this year.

CSUSigEp 07-23-2004 06:26 PM

Ahman Green is a pretty good bet for a first pick IMO. Brandon Lloyd should be a good sleeper pick, someone has to catch the ball in SF.

thermobryan 07-24-2004 01:47 AM

yes yes, NFL season is coming...Let me warn all of you, I'm a raiders fan...yes yes, let the trash talking begin...

tinydancer 07-24-2004 10:18 PM

Don't look now but Eddie George just got picked up by the Cowboys.

In the meantime, GO CHIEFS !!

Sister Havana 07-25-2004 01:39 AM

This just in...Ricky Williams has retired.

NickLc24 07-25-2004 01:41 AM

Ricky's been my favorite player since his Longhorn days. Heisman Trophy '98, ranks first on the NCAA’s all-time all-purpose yardage list...on a Hall of Fame pace to break all kinds of NFL records.

If he is done, it was a short and sweet career. :|

thermobryan 07-25-2004 02:25 AM

I thought you were just making that up, but I just saw it on the news tonite! WHAT A MORON! I'm really pissed cause I picked him as my first pick on my fantasy league!!!!

CSUSigEp 07-25-2004 03:01 AM

^ That sucks! Thankfully I didnt. Damn I want a 34 Dolphins jersey now. I already have the rookie Saints 34 jersey :D

blueGBI 07-25-2004 11:22 AM

I want to give another big FUCK YOU to all of the Eagles fans who wanted to draft him over McNabb. This dude is a headcase. I don't wish him on anyone.

*yes I'm an Eagles fan*

Ironic, huh?

Funny: They've already updated the Dolphins depth chart on ESPN. They had a potentially dangerous WR tandem w/ Boston, Chambers, and Wilkins...I guess we'll see if the Dolphins go hunting for a replacement RB or stick to #28 of good ol FSU.

Kordel McNabb is still overrated. In the first 5 games last year he threw the same number of touchdowns as a dead guy. None. This year he will be overthrowing TO and throwing 5 yard slants into the dirt. If he puts on any more weight he is going to start looking like Hollis Thomas.

Rikita Williams

This whole story is bizarre, particularly his masking-agent comments.

The sports talk guys in San Diego, Ricky's hometown, are hammering the point home that it appears that Ricky chose marijuana over football.

ZeroCool 07-26-2004 02:07 PM

Ricky's retirement puts the phins in the basement for at least a year....mark my words. he totally screwed them.

I agree w/ the Dolphins being in a tough situation but there have been stranger situations. They still have a formidable defense and little Jay will make a thing or two happen. Don't count anyone out yet!

cashmoney 07-26-2004 11:00 PM

I've already done my draft for one of the pools I'm in.

Who? The Cannons or Hacksaw?

I know Rome questioned the TIMING of the decision but not the motive...and I dunno how Tony and Andre felt about it, but I'm pretty sure Mr. Bruno is also glad they took Donovan over Ricky.

Actually, it's Billy Ray Smith (who I like) and Scotty Kaplan (who gets on my last nerve) on the Mighty 1090 who were bringing up the Ricky loves chronic issue.

Romey's points about the timing were excellent. If Ricky had said he was retiring earlier, the Dolphins could have possibly been an Eddie George sweepstakes player.

That was a major beef of mine too - he knew Eddie was on the market, he could have really thrown the Dolphins a bone and given them a chance to sign him by making his decision earlier.

He didn't do it last minute though, so now they can see if Minor is the answer at RB. Chambers is going to have to have a big year this year though, as is Boston.

CatStarESP4 07-29-2004 01:25 AM

I wonder if this season the Eagles would finally stop being the NFC's bridesmaids and play in their first Superbowl in nearly 24 years.

Also, the Patriots are looking to get their 3rd Superbowl championship in 4 years.

A Patriots/Eagles Superbowl would be a very interesting match.

Quincy Carter released by the Cowboys after testing positive for cocaine.

My beloved Bears made a big trade the other day...they sent Marty Booker and a third-round pick next year to the Dolphins for Adewale Ogunleye. I like this trade. :) Sure, I like Marty Booker and I will miss him, but you have to give up something if you want to get something. It's also been pointed out on the Score that it is easier to find a good wide receiver than it is to find a good pass rushing defensive end...not to mention a pass rushing STUD like Ogunleye.

NickLc24 08-23-2004 01:40 PM

David Boston: Will find a way to injure himself, if he hasn't already. A 230 lb. WR, c'mon now...you're 6'2".

Chambers: Definitely talented and has a bright future but when you don't have that Ricky running game...it's going to make it tough to have a good season.

Eddie George: Can you say burnout? I had to put up with watching Eddie average 1 and 2 yards a carry the past few years. I'm glad he's out.

Some things I'm looking out for:

Portis: Will he perform as he did in Denver?
Denver: So many talented RB's, who will start? Will they have another pair of 1000 yard rushers?
Eli: Looked good against a tough Carolina defense...will he be as good/better than his bro?
Titans: Chris Brown can't do worse than what George did the past few years, will he step up?
Garcia: Can he turn the Browns around?
Rudi: Bunguls new star?
Raiders: Will Gannon return to Pro-Bowl form?
49ers: Nuff said
Ravens: Awesome defense, will the 2003's worst passing offense improve?

DeltaSigStan 08-23-2004 01:46 PM

Damn, Carson Palmer whooped the Pat D.....hopefully not a sign of things to come.

Hate to break it to you, Boston's out for the year.

I'm in a buddy's league, and ended up getting a decent team. I've got McNair and McNabb as quarterbacks, Marvin Harrison and Tony Gonzalez. Not too bad at all.
