Favorite Shows That Were Never Given A Chance
I know there's a thread about cancelled shows, but many listed actually ran for a while before cancellation.
So, in the thread, we discuss shows that lasted no more than 3 seasons before stupid rich white men decided the show wasn't profitable. By the way, if the execs now were execs back in the early 80s, we wouldn't have Cheers. 1) Undeclared 2) Freaks and Geeks 3) Keen Eddie |
Star Trek: TOS
(boy, were they wrong... :p ) |

When they cancelled My So-Called Life, it was a tragedy of my adolescence :(
There's was also a cute Romeo-and-Juliet-esque show that ran on ABC for a while that was about a couple who eventually got together and it was all about their relationship and how they liked each other, but didn't want to say, etc....i totally can't remember the name....dammit |
I loved this show starring Kimberly Williams who was in the Father of the Bride movies.

Definitely My So-Called Life and Family Guy . . .
Also, what was that reality show where there were gay and straight guys trying to get the girl to fall in love with them at the dude ranch? I really like that one. |
Cosigning on the Freaks and Geeks.
There was a summer show, The Tim Conway Show, that only ran for about 3-4 weeks, but was fantastic. I would pay very good money to get a copy of the Fashion Police segment!!! (And yes, he did the original one!) |

Come to think of it, maybe that was the problem. All the kids liked it, but it didn't attract any adult viewers. Nowadays, that would be the way to go, but back then they were all about the adult viewers. Things to ponder... :) |

And of course My So-Called Life and Family Guy. |
My So-Called Life
Rich Girls ;) |
Friends and Seinfeld.

I agree that Popular should have been given a real chance. It was a great show. I especially loved the episode where Nicole has the "Christmas Carol" type dream.
I also liked Grosse Point. I was so psyched to see Nat faxon in the movie Club Dread! I loved the WB! :) |

They definitely should have given it more time - a couple of more years it may have even gotten a following. |
Grosse Pointe
My So-Called Life Models Inc. ( I still want to know who got shot in that last episode) Fastlane Popular (moving it to Friday nights killed it) Rags to Riches |

As for the show I miss: SportsNight - it was really, really funny, and I loved how it didn't have a laugh track at all. Very fast paced and witty. |

Undeclared
3 South Dark Skies (I think I'm the only person who ever watched this) |
Ok...I've totally forgotten the name of this show. I saw only two episodes because they randomly came on (I think the station was doing some sort of thing to decide which shows to air permanently). Anyway, I have no idea what the show was called but I know it couldn't have run for very long.
If you know what the show is PLEASE let me know! The show was kinda like Twilight Zone and Outer Limits. In the episode I saw, there were these military guys out in a desert and they came upon the beautiful pastoral scene. They figured it was a window into another dimension or world. One of the military guys watches a lady on the other side and becomes enamored. They figure out that the window shuts down briefly in varying intervals. I forgot to mention that the people on the other side can't see the military guys. So anyway, the stupid guy decides to jump across the window into the other dimension to be with the girl. He runs up to her and they look at each other in a way that suggests that there is some attraction. All of the sudden, the girl's mouth drops like 3 inches and she jumps on the guy and eats him, calling to her family to come for dinner! Then the other dimension people figure out where he came from because, when he jumped through, the window turned around so the cannibal family could see our world but we couldn't see theirs. The last scene is creepy. The little cannibal boy is tapping against the window/forcefield to find out when it drops so they can come through to eat all of humanity. He's tapping with a bone from the military guy they just ate!!! EEEEEK! |
