Trading Spouses
Did anyone watch last night?
The show is so stupid it's funny and I'm not a really show fan at all. They had the Biggins family and the Nakamura family on. If I was mister Nakamura, I wouldn't want my old wife back. She's useless. |
i saw it last night! at the white lady. all i can say is white trash gold digger. she is worthless and cannot do anything useful.

The poor boy Omar was doing everything for her. She made him stand by the circut braker to fix it everytime her stupid hair dryer blew out a circut. Turn the damn hair dryer off! Then at breakfast she asked him to heat up her coffee. If that I was me I would have told her to do it her own damn self. The Biggins family has a lot of patience. |
Are you allowed to make woopy with the new spouse?

My boyfriend and I watched it last night. I about died when the Mrs. B went to the Mr. N's house. I knew she would be loving her time there after they showed her at home. :D
Mrs. N needs a reality check, unfortunately I don't think this expreiece is going to be harsh enough for her. What gets me - she used to be a TRUCK DRIVER! So she's been on the low end of the income totum pole. I think Mrs. B is just a sweet person overall and I really hope that Mrs. N picks the right thing(s) to spend her $50K on. (like her bills, her corvette and her louis - my kind of lady!) :D |

She was such a horrible person! I can't believe that family could put up with her. I would have told her to get her big ass up and make her own food. What kind of mother is she? The other lady was very nice and it's cool that she could live richly for a couple of days.
|
in the end, the moms get to decide how the other family spends the $50,000 right?
i think and hope (crosses fingers) that mrs. biatch will use it for the three kids' college education. she may end up sending the daughter to some weight loss camp and buying the family a cook after what i saw from her last night  the black lady will probably use the money on the grandma because she does everything for the family. to be honest, they dont need the $50,000. they have just about everything they already need. |

I definitly agree that Nana should get most of the money...she does do everything in that house. Also, Mrs. B should get Mrs. N some cooking lessons. |

wasn't this show originally called "Wife Swap"? Any word on why they changed the name?
|
I promised myself that I wouldn't get pulled into this reality show but I ended up watching it anyway. Now I'm (unfortunately) hooked. I think I'll watch the last few episodes so I can know what they chose to do w/ the money but I definitely won't catch any episodes in between.

ETA: There are probably some legal issues as to why the American producers can't use that name. |

But this idea did come from a British television show. |
>>the white lady. all i can say is white trash gold digger
totally agree! Saw it last night too-was pretty funny. Must admit though I'm holding out for the real mccoy version. |
I didn't see the show at all. I did see the preview of the show and I was reminded of a sketch from Chappelle's Show that parodied 'Trading Spaces'. That sketch was called 'Trading Spouses'. My thought was they must have taken that idea from that Chappelle's Show sketch.
|
There is a show called "Wife Swap" that ABC is coming out with this fall. And now ABC is pissed at FOX for stealing their idea and putting out their own show first. NBC is pissed at FOX too for stealing their idea for a boxing reality show.
|
Sounds like the fox network needs some creative writers for shows on their end! I had seen a commercial for wife swap, but I'll have to check out Trading Spouses. I didn't catch the first episode.
|
I loved the first episode! I laughed the entire way through!
Quotables: "I think what I bring to my family is my positiveness." followed by "Knowing how to talk to people is the most important thing. I can speak to the president or I can speak to the garbage man. They're both the same man to me." --from Mrs. N On whether or not the new family will have a pool, from Mr. B, "Honey, we got a pool. It might take a few minutes to blow it up but we got one." with a totally straight face. Ahhh... quality! PS-what's up w/ Mrs. K's bags under her eyes? Her husband's a PLASTIC SURGEON!!! |
*bump*
tonight is the conclusion of the first episode (they re-aired last weeks show last night) the white lady was on the seacrest show yesterday and she said that they made her look like a villian . they edit what she gives them, and there was not much she gave to make her look any good :o. |
Mrs. N is such a PLANO LADY! You guys from Dallas will totally get what I mean!

But anyway, I adore Mrs. B and when Mrs. N said stuff about the daughter going to die young because of her weight it made me cringe. Mrs. B said she would love to use the $50,000 to pay off her debt (before learning that Mrs. N controls the money) and that would be such a better use than Weight Loss Camp. |
She made the poor kid stand in the closet while she was drying her hair SO THEY COULD GO TO A WATER PARK!!!!!
Are you F'ing Kidding me? I wanted to kick her. HARD. |
So I'm watching the final episode of this switch and Mrs. N is already pissing me off within the first two minutes.
She said all of this stuff about how horrible life is for overweight girls. They can't find clothes that fit, blah, blah, blah. Then she says she's never been overweight in her life. So how does she know what it's like? ETA: They're having a party and Mrs. N said they can't have chicken wings because "that'll kill you eventually." |
I'm very happy that it turned out the way that it did, and it seemed like the Biggins were happy about it too. I'm too happy for Nana as well! I hope she enjoys her new car (was it established whether or not she can actually drive  ?) as well as her trip to Japan. She definitely deserves it!
That lazy Mrs. N. didn't even lift a finger to wash her dirty drawers! Guess if she gets a boat, it won't happen with that $50K! |
I missed part of the end of the show. Can someone break down how each mom spent the 50K? Thanks!

Mrs. N decided to split the money up. $20,000 was for debts, $22,000 for a down payment on a new house, $500 per child, $750 for the parents (Mrs. Biggins has to go to the spa and Mr. has to go to an electronic store). I don't remember what the rest of the $5,000 is for, but it's not as horrible as we thought it could have been! |
I was wondering why daughter Biggins seemed so unhappy with the outcome....in the last episode, didn't Mela say she was giving the kids 500 each anyway?
|
But I have a feeling that Mrs. N. is gonna make Nana pick out a car she wants, and there won't be any left over for a trip to Japan...
|
I missed the finale last night. I am so glad Nana got the money.
Crazy Mrs. N better keep her hands of Nana's money. I hope Mr. N makes sure Nana gets what she wants. ETA: Just out of curiosity, do we know what Mr. B does for a living? I know in the first episode he mentioned that he had to be at work for 6am. |

I'm very happy that Mrs. N chose to spend the $50K the way she did. I know that will help out that family more than they realize. I think her point about a down payment on a new home is to help them move up in the world - which I think is great.
I got a kick out of how Mrs. B decided to spend the $50K. I bet Nana will get something simple - nothing flashy - and from my understanding, the entire family gets to spend the remainder on a trip to Japan. I think that's great - especially for the kids to learn more about their heritage. |
I definitly think Mrs. B made a good choice, I mean, what do you get a family that already has everything?
Mrs. N's choices were better than I thought they would be. I did think that maybe she should have told them they had to put some money towards the children's education. Have the parents start and education savings plan for them. ETA: Do the families get the entire $50K or do they have to pay tax on that. And if they have to pay tax, how much do they have left? |
Didn't Dave Chapelle do a skit on his show almost exactly like this? White woman switches places with black woman and chaos insues in each others houses? He threw in some sex jokes too but basically reality television has gone so far that if you come up with something outlandish, someone probably has it in development somewhere. It's friggin crazy.

Has anyone else been keeping up with this show?
I tuned in last week and watched the entire show for the first time, and then I watched tonight's follow up show. While I thought Lisa had little social grace and was a little abrassive, that was no reason for the LA family to be so rude and unwelcoming. They didn't give her a chance, they ignored her, and their friends were outright nasty and pathetic. I don't think she spent the money in the best way, but they didn't really give her a chance to get to know them so she could see what they really wanted/needed. I am glad Samantha had a good experience and that the Mass. family got what they were hoping for. |
I've got mixed emotions.
The California family and neighbors were definitely a bunch of snotrags. The Mass. family was nice, but I felt like the California mom was trying to "save" them -- albeit not as much as Mrs. Nakamura from the previous episodes. The California family......it almost didn't seem like the california mom didn't really fit in with them when she was in Mass. BUT, when she got back home, it seemed like she fit right on in...she didn't seem as compassionate or as loving with her own family. ON THE OTHER HAND, the Mass. mom was ALSO behaving like she had to save the California family from themselves. And she was a little boorish at the dinner out last week. She reminded me a lot of Roseanne -- well meaning, but not very tactful. All in all, it was enjoyable.....the California family got exactly what they deserved. Had they not been snotrags to the woman and willing to "play the game" maybe they would have gotten what they wanted. Oh, and those hags were DEFINITELY clowning the woman because of her profession -- I didn't she she sounded "defensive" at all. They did nothing to make her feel welcome...did you hear the man ask her how big her trailer was???? |
