But I don't know what to do/say for my tape...

Be honest and open. Also if there's a way you can highlight any struggles you've had in your life that helps. It seems like a lot of people who get on the Real World have overcome something or are dealing with personal conflict. Please don't take this the wrong way, but since you are a minority it should help since RW is always looking for minorities and people to fit specific character molds.

If you can demonstrate in your tape that you are a ________ (fill in the blank with some sort of character) then it is sure to help them out to see you as one of the people on the show.

So if I tell them I'm an angry Black woman there's a good chance I'll get on? LOL

All seriousness though, I know when you build a reality show you look for things that would create conflict. In all reality who wants to watch a show where everyone gets along? So in some ways it might help, but instead of being the "angry black woman" you could be the "black woman extremely proud of your heritage". :)

I think I'll just stick to being me. I am a Black woman, can't/won't deny that. I'm still thinking about submitting a tape.

You might as well try, if I didn't think I'd be portrayed as the naive white girl from the suburbs I'd try too. :)

Soror I say the best thing for you to do is go to an open cast call. I tried the video tape thing and chances are you won't be picked that way cause they have like millions of tapes. I originally wanted to be on road rules before they started the voting off people rule. You can go to the BurimMurray(I think that's it.) Site and find out about open cast calls.

Co-sign with the above statement. I submitted a tape the year that they went to New Orleans, but people I knew who went to open casting calls got further along in the process than I did.

I really don't want to wait in line....:(

I have been wanting to be on the Real World since I was about 14. I love that show, more then then now. I think that the show is more staged now and the stopped putting REAL people on it. Like the girls and even some of the guys look like models now. And most of the "black" people people are mixed. The cast is just more aware of the cameras and they have seen enough seasons to know what to do and what will give them more air time.

So how far have you gotten Epitome?

And anyone else who is trying to get selected.

I am still trying to decide what to do. I would really prefer to send in the tape, not a fan of standing in lines...(despite everyone's suggestion that I stand in line,lol)

I'm trying to get on REAL WORLD, but those "other people" aren't ready for me. I'll be walking around the house butt naked, drinking, cursing chicks out, threatenign to beat up those soft azz dudes on their. I'd wouldn't last two episodes, but I PROMISE those will be the two MOST WATCHED shows in MTV history. LOL

That's all been done before! LOL.

I just like the nice houses they get to live in. I heard they aren't allowed to watch tv or listen to the radio:(

That's true. The only time a TV was allowed in a Real World house was during the Real World Chicago because of 9/11.

So no Law & Order or listening to my Michael Jackson History CD. Talk about hard times...still thinking about.

Naw, not the way that SHortfuse is going to carry it! I'm taking it to a whole new level, I promise that my two episodes (before I'm asked to leave) will be the HIGHEST nights in MTV history.

In earlier seasons they were allowed to do those things. I think they took the TV away after the London season because Jay (especially) and Mike basically did nothing except sit and watch TV. They were also allowed to listen to music on headphones, so it didn't interfere with the mikes and stuff. I don't know when that rule was changed.

The one that would drive me nuts would be Big Brother...not only no TV or music, you also can't bring in anything to read or write with! I'd be going stir-crazy within five minutes! At least on The Real World they are allowed to read, write, get online, get the newspaper, etc.

Yeah gotta have the internet! Anyone know where the next season will be?
