Messenger Bags - In or Fruity
 

So I've always been a backpack boy. It has been backpacks from the beginning and all the way through highschool. I had never really seen anyone using anything different...

Now that I'm taking summer classes at Mizzou I've started to notice that a ton of guys have those messenger bags...

I've always thought they were a bit fruity but what do you think?

Guys and messenger bags - IN or fruity?

i have one but thats cause i hate back packs

In my opinion, men who carry messenger bags are totally the way of the cougar.

If you are an AKL at our school (which you are) tyou should either carry a messenger bag or else be ULTRA cool and only carry one notebook and a pen behind your ear.

Its not fruity. Its trendy.

Any large campus and youre gonna see lots of the guys with the messenger bags.

Just remember that in college no one takes their books to class. You could always spot the freshman on campus the first week of class becasue they bring their books to class.

i am getting a messenger bag for school. ( a really girly one) anyway i really do not like back packs. they are awful on my back.

In some classes the books help a lot. Especially if the teacher is lecturing almost right out of it. Just a book and your trusty highlighter is all you need.

messenger bags will hurt your back less than backpacks. or so i've been told.

So true....we mostly just took clip boards or notebooks to take notes.

Guys with messenger bags are hott :) They don't slouch like the ones wearing the ole' backpack.

As long as it's not a man sling (open at the top...looks quite purse-like) you should be fine. I have a friend that I called man-purse guy for the first three months of our friendship because he carried a man sling from Banana Republic. I now know he's hetero, but at that point in time I wasn't quite sure.

For the past couple of months, my third grader has been using my old Kate Spade messenger bag as her book bag. She's informed me, though, that she would like a backpack for next year because the messenger bag is "really, really uncool" :rolleyes:

The ones from Jack spade are a little girlish and there are some cheap cool ones from manhattan portage that I had in high school.

The dude's backpack just self-destructed. He's had it for 10 years. Now he wants a messenger bag. I didn't like them at first because it seemed so Dawson's Creekish. But backpacks seem so HS. He's commuting, so the pen and notebook won't work.

Fruity or not, guys with messanger bags are sexy sexaaaaaaaaay!

Alrighty, so I've taken your guys' advice and am getting a messenger bag. I like the one Rio posted and this jansport one, but I'm having a hard time deciding. These are both the colors of each that I'd like...

I like the Jansport better than the LL Bean, but personally I think these are much cooler.

I would have to say ixnay on the LL Bean one.

These are satchel bags. They have been around for over a century, probbaly longer. They are just renamed messenger bags to catch the trendy people.

If you get something really trendy that girls would say, "oh thats such a cute bag," that is a little gay, but what the heck.

when i was in DC all the hottie law guys and professionals were carrying them-
they werent in college, but with a button down shirt, tie, slacks and their bag- they looked yummy!

I like my backpack, thanx.

I tried a messanger one year at college, but it felt weird. So I switched back to my backpack.

Anyways, I like the Jansport.

I've always thought that LLBean bags were kinda ugly. Especially their back packs... you could fit a small country in those things.

My friends all use bookbags to and from work but I prefer the messenger or another kind of bag. I hate that person on the subway with a huge bookbag but they don't realize it and always bump into the people behind them.

Messenger bags (a.k.a. man bags) are a timeless style - I say get it a good one and wear it with pride!

Abercrombie and J. Crew usually make nice casual ones. For a dressier look, maybe check Ralph Lauren or Brooks Brothers. Even if they don't have them, they can send you in the right direction.

I think that they are ok, but personaly I wouldnt carry one all the time becuz i like my backpack. I only use my "messenger bag" to put my laptop in. But like I said they are still cool.

The jansport one is cool.
