Ron Reagan to speak at Democratic National Convention
(CNN) -- Ron Reagan will speak in prime time at the Democratic National Convention on the importance of stem cell research, a senior adviser to presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry told CNN on Sunday.
The Kerry adviser, who did not want to be identified, said the appearance of the younger son of the late former President Ronald Reagan came about after "overtures were made by both sides -- friends of both." The adviser did not say on which night Reagan, 46, will speak. The four-day convention kicks off July 26 in Boston, Massachusetts. Ron Reagan, a self-described liberal whose political views were often at odds with his conservative Republican father, has said publicly that he does not support President Bush's re-election. Reagan raised eyebrows during his father's burial service in June when he said in his eulogy that his father "never made the fatal mistake of so many politicians, wearing his faith on his sleeve to gain political advantage." Many observers thought the remark was aimed at Bush, who often speaks publicly of the role faith plays in his life. Reagan later told CNN that he did not set out to take a dig at Bush, though after so many other people made that connection, "I began to think maybe I was. I just didn't know it." http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/...ats/index.html |
Is this the same Ron Reagan with the Radio Show?

I believe he will be speaking about stem cell research, which could conceivably lead to a cure for Alzheimers. Definitely expect to hear his slam the Republican administration for its hard line stance against it.

I do find their opposition to this to be inexplicable though. |

Ron Reagan's mother is Nancy Reagan while Michael Reagan's mother is someone that Ronald Reagan left after having affairs and going on a series of sexual relationships outside of marriage- you know... traditional conservative values... |
You never miss a chance to get a shot in, do you?

It's not mean if it's true.

My only problem is (and it works on both sides on this board, Democrat and Republican, conservative and liberal), that people will say these things that have nothing to do with the thread. Just something that rubs me the wrong way.
I never said the comment was mean - I just pointed out the fact that you were sure to get your comment on "conservative values" into the discussion. |
I just wanted to put some stuff out there:
Sometimes people lie. Sometimes people are stupid. Sometimes people work in jobs where migrant workers with little education and no understanding of English work. Sometimes people tell others to die "grizzly" deaths (like the bear as a hot chick might say). Sometimes people try to pass off their opinions and feelings as fact. As for the son speaking up about it, good for him. Yes politically it hurts Republicans, but he is more than entitled to his opinion not only as a citizen but as Ronnie's son. As for the political games, we have one Democrat who votes Republican all the time. None of this matters - it's just mud. -Rudey --Now that was the truth. |

And it has about as much relavance as JFK and Monroe, Clinton and Lewinski, Eisenhower and Summersby, US founders and their slaves, etc. It would appear that history has been the judge and found out it just doesn't matter. If you are personally outraged, that's fine. But to the majority it's just not important. |
first of all Ronald Reagan was married to Jane Wyman who is mother to both MIchael Regan( adopted) and his late sister Marueen Reagan
He met Nancy Reagan a yr after the divorce and they married and had Ron and patti. Please dont dispparge a good man! he may have had affairs but not in his marriages and i say good for Ron Jr.!!!!!!!!!! I am very conservative republican but i do agree with stem cell research for the purpose of finding a cure to alzhiemers and god willing hopefully Parkinsons diease. No one should ever have to go thru that kind of life : the paitent or the family members! |
