Another badge on Ebay.

Here it is. I hope a DG can rescue it!

sailorgirl 07-14-2004 03:14 AM

Thats a great price! i wish i had the money. I thought ebay wasn't going to sell pins at the request of NPC?

dgmeredith 07-15-2004 01:57 AM

I have the money to buy the badge.... But i don't want to out bid another DG for it! What should I do? ahhh! Help!

Mislabeled badge
Roses,
Silver

DGMarie 07-30-2004 02:19 PM

The small pin is a recognition pin, smaller than a regular badge. It isn't gold, he is right.

Someone above posted that they thought Ebay was not going to let people sell pins. This is news to me and am not sure but doubt this is true.

Sister Havana 08-10-2004 12:46 PM

Here is another one.

I love the details on the bottom of the anchor!

No, that one's not a DG pin, but thanks for looking out for us!

Jill1228 09-26-2004 10:39 AM

Not a badge but...

Sorry to crash but...

I bet someone would be interested in this 2 volume history book!

AUDeltaGam 09-26-2004 12:26 PM

Someone should definitey bid on that...I have a set of those books and they are great!

DeeGeePrincess 09-26-2004 05:21 PM

I wonder if my badge will turn up on ebay! My Lil Sis lost my badge at initiation!!!

WhiteDaisy128 09-26-2004 08:02 PM

I keep my eyes out for my mom's...my little sister lost it at Initiation as well...She felt so horrible...I did too really. We looked for it for weeks. :-( It never showed back up though.

AUDeltaGam 09-26-2004 09:14 PM

Good luck finding your badges, especially CJ! :(

amandadyer 12-03-2004 12:22 PM

This isn't technically a badge, but I thought some might be interested in this piece. This seems like something extra special to me, considering the history of Eta chapter.

Wow, it's beautiful!

WhiteDaisy128 12-13-2004 08:56 AM

If I had to guess, that's from the period of founding...I mean, the late 1800's...I came across another badge that looks "different" on e-bay a year ago and it turned out to be from the 1800's (before one badge design was picked). The badge ended up selling for $2000+ to a collector (who happened to be a DG). I'm going to contact EO on this one...

hannahgirl 12-13-2004 05:33 PM

i believe that it is one of the older badges. it looks a lot like the pin that we give to one of the most involved new members. i can't quite remember how old it is but i believe that it is from the early 1900s.

amandadyer 12-21-2004 11:08 AM

Click on the link from my most recent post above and see how much the DG badge went for. I almost fell out of my chair! Does anyone have any idea if the winning bidder is a DG?

Amanda

NutBrnHair 12-21-2004 12:12 PM

Hello DG friends... I spend a good bit of time on eBay & I am sometimes amazed at the big prices on some of the badges. That's a spectacular old badge.

In looking at the bidding history for the high bidder (bogs99) it looks like s/he has bid on several Delta Gamma items, but also auctions for the following during the past 30 days:

Kappa Sigma
Kappa Kappa Kappa
Phi Delta Theta
Sigma Delta Tau
Delta Sigma Nu
Alpha Sigma Alpha
Alpha Kappa Phi
Iota Phi Theta
Tau Delta Phi
Delta Kappa Epsilon

I could be wrong, but it looks like a "collector" won it!

WhiteDaisy128 12-21-2004 05:19 PM

Bogs is a Delta Gamma. She is the same one who won the last old badge...the one with emeralds. She is a collector though...I hope it somehow ends up at EO...:(

amandadyer 03-12-2005 11:52 AM

This isn't technically a DG badge, but it's interesting and very pretty. Has anyone ever seen anything like it before?

JenDG 03-16-2005 12:49 AM

It is a pretty piece. I think the maker's mark is well known, but I can't recall who's mark it is.

I'm also a Zeta Eta initiate, so I wanted to make sure to say Hi!!!:p

Sorry to crash, but here's another one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...964870418&rd=1

WhiteDaisy128 03-16-2005 09:07 AM

^ That auction makes me sad. I e-mailed her and told her that too.

bekibug 03-16-2005 12:42 PM

What is it with soon-to-be-alums (not just DGs) selling their badges? This is like the 3rd or 4th one I've run across lately.

dgfromtx 03-16-2005 01:01 PM

I saw that listing on ebay and am a little saddened.

Why would you sell your badge just to go on a trip after graduation? I can understand selling your tshirts or other sorority items, but your badge? Seems so wrong to me.

Bekibug: Maybe they're selling them because their organization and what their badge stands for does not mean as much to them as it does to other members? Who knows.

amandadyer 03-16-2005 02:10 PM

Not that this makes it any better, but maybe she has terminated her membership and instead of returning her badge to EO, she decided to make some money by selling a piece of "jewelry". It's still sad though.

I served on honor board for 2 terms, and whenever a girl resigned, we made her turn in her badge and membership certificate to HB, and we always returned those things to EO. Maybe she just wants to sell her badge?:(

bekibug 03-16-2005 06:35 PM

That's why I was confused--we make a girl turn in her Quill to the chapter then it's turned over to HQ. One of the first things we're taught about our Quills is how to properly handle them, like no selling and what not.
Granted, this girl is active (assumedly)collegiate-about-to-turn-alum, but she still ought to know what to do/not do with a badge. I mean, our national website put up the article from the Kappa magazine a few years ago that dealt with the Keepers of the Keys and all, so I figured by now the NPC orgs would have gotten the word across to their members.

DGMarie 03-19-2005 07:57 PM

The ebay listing now reads "I resigned my membership from this organization 4 years ago." I have a hard time believing this. She has an awful lot of dangles for someone who resigned her Freshman year.

WhiteDaisy128 03-20-2005 12:19 AM

She never e-mailed me back. :( Marie, I agree though, it does seem odd that she had those dangles as a Freshman.

AnchorAlumna 03-20-2005 02:42 AM

Guess what EO does when a pin is returned? Sell them. True. They're sold at Convention & OTS as used badges. No bargains - prices are almost as high as new. Personally, I enjoy seeing them come up on eBay, although the backstory may be sad. Usually it's from somebody who bought it at an estate or yard sale, and that's pretty sad too - but at least on eBay it generally goes to a member or collector who realizes its intrinsic significance and appreciates it.

texas*princess 03-31-2005 03:33 PM

not one of your anchors, but interesting nonetheless

Hi ladies!

I saw *this* on ebay earlier today. It is not one of your anchors, but instead it apears to be a lapel pin with the Gamma superimposed on the Delta. It's really cute. I don't know if this is something from an older DG who maybe just had it made, or maybe there is a "Gamma Delta" organization somewhere?

Hannah Honey 04-30-2005 12:20 AM

Badge on ebay... booo

there is another badge on ebay, i contacted EO about and hopefully they will do something about it. The person who has the highest bid has bought 5 or 6 diffrent sorority badges recently, i'm not sure what she is going to do with them... maybe she was cut and is still bitter? who knows!
