Woman sues McDonalds over French Fries
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...donald_s_fries
1) If I cared about the fat, I wouldn't eat the fries... 2) God Bless Sue-Happy America.....I'm gonna sue KFC for making my fingers greasy, thus vanadlizing my laptop as I type this |
Why do people feel it is McDonald's duty to provide heart healthy food to the world??? It's fast, convenient, cheap and downright tasty; but if I'm feeling in the mood for something "healthy" I eat elsewhere.
There are so many idiots in this world sometimes it makes me want to scream! |

People like that who file frivolous lawsuits should have their cases thrown out and made to pay triple court costs! The extra penalty for wasting the court's time, money and schedule. |
Hopefully this case will go the way of "mcdonalds made my kid fat" cases.
Even if McD's did give her that promise, I don't think she gave valid consideration (contract law terms)... |
How about they throw out the case on the basis that they lady and her attornies are complete morons?
|
What IDIOTS! No judge in his right mind would take that case.
Personal responsibility, people! |
Fat is fat is fat. If you look, olive, canola and veggie oil (as well as all other types) all have the same number of fat grams per 1 tablespoon serving (14, in case you wondered). They differ in the number of grams of TFA, but they all (in excess) will make you fat. The only difference is that if you OD on the olive oil, you'll be a fat ass w/ a good HDL count and fairly clear arteries. Oil is fat. Liquid lipids, if you will. Like KR, I occasionally eat fast food, but I'm definitely not under the delusion that any of that crap is good for me.
Next thing you know, someone dumbass will be suing Budweiser because he didn't think that beer would make him drunk. |
But I swear, McDonald's french fries are the best french fries ever.

Back to the topic, what an idiot. |
Do people not realize or care that everyone who hears about their lawsuit will react the way we are all reacting?
I guess they don't mind being a laughing stock to get a shot at the jackpot. |

This topic reminds me of something I heard on the news this morning:
Making obesity an actual disability. What do people think about this? |

I'm big on personal responsibility - if you can't keep your hands off the fries, it's not MacDonald's fault. There are responsible ways to enjoy food like that. I tend to stay away from that stuff; when I do eat it though, I prefer BK's fries to MacDonalds'. |

Bad Idea... This will make the governmnt responsible for obesity. I am not saying that it is not a sickness, but it is up to the individual to take responsibility for themselves. Once the government gets involved, watch out. You will see restaurants shutting down, candy removed from stores, and that is just the beginning. You may have rolled your eyes at my previous post in this thread, but that is where we are headed. People have shunned all personal responsibility, and if that is what they want to do, there will be hell to pay. I am booking a one-way ticket to Costa Rica the second they outlaw my right to eat a York Peppermint Patty... |

I ate at McDonald's over two weeks ago. I hadn't eaten a McDonald's meal other than breakfast in over a year. It was good, but I couldn't imagine eating that daily or twice daily. You need to eat fruits and vegetables. I don't consider a slice of onion, a pickle, and ketchup vegetables.
I do like their McFlurrys with M&M's. Yummy! I think that morbid obesity is a disability. Or maybe it is the consequences of obesity such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease that qualify. |
I'm a big McDonald's fan. Tho I try to eat 'healthy' when I'm there, salads, chicken nuggets. Love the breakfasts there sooo much too. I eat there at least once a week maybe twice. BUT I know it's bad for me and make up for it the rest of the week by eating better and working out. I would in no way blame my health issues on a fast food restaurant that I chose to eat at. People just don't like facing up to their own free-will choices sometimes.
Child obesity in my school is such a problem. It's sad. And those kids are in McDonald's getting a snack after school...2 cheesburgers and fries meal large sized. ::mad:: |

I had some McDonalds fries for lunch. They didn't have as much salt as usual.
They'll be hearing from my lawyer. Geez. |

I have noticed that a lot of fast food places are making "healthy alternatives" for the kids' meals. Wendy's is now offering orange slices and milk as opposed to french fries and soda. McDonald's is "trying" with the apples and caramel dip (which still probably has a ton of sugar).

That kid looks like the Sta-Puft marshmallow.
What happened to mandatory PE? |
Quote:
We can't require PE because the competitive nature of the games might damage the delicate self esteem of those children who are less athletically inclined. God forbid we show children that they do, at some point, have to lose in life. </sarcasm> Seriously. I was a tiny little 40 lb asthmatic runt and not only did I survive mandatory PE grades K-8 (if you were in marching band you didn't have to do PE at my high school) but I'm glad that I did it. My self esteem was never damaged. Now the rest of me, that's another story! :) |

At my school at least, we have a gym. The middle school uses it because when the K-8 school became a K-4 and a 5-8 school the gym was in the 5-8 and therefore, they use it we don't. Our kids get "Movement" a far cry from PE. My friend took her kindergarten class to the gym and it was like christmas morning they were SO excited. Our 4th graders had a field day of sorts @ Robert Clemente St. Park and I was told the physical activity was pittiful. No energy whatsoever. And they have No imagination when it comes to making up games to play or being able to play the typical school games. But this is more than some schools have so....be happy for what little you got I guess. |
whoa. this reminds me of one of my cousins. she is overweight and it's all her mom. she eats nothing but pasta and her mom doesn't put her foot down. oh yeah, she eats french fries for variety.

No, there should be no guilt in having some fries on occasion, but c'mon, everyday is crazy. Plus, all these fad diets are also screwing up people's metabolic rates. There was a great article in USA Today either yesterday or today that spoke to the way people are eating in our country. It is sad, but the improvement will not come until we realize that there are no quick fixes. We need to be responsible for our own lives.

This thread guilted me into have Subway for lunch today. But I had a McFlurry for desert!
