Special title
 

There is a guy who helps promote, pass out brochures, fix our website, volunteering, drives us to (public) events and now helping us with fundraising. What kind of title should we give this person??? I know some greeks give special title to the opposite sex for contributing a lot......

When a guy contributes a lot to the chapter, we make him a Sigma Tau (a little brother). He gets a Big Sis and is allowed to come to some functions (like formal).

consider him the chapter Big Brother?
similar to the Fraternity chapter little sister

Or the chapter squeeze (similar to the chapter sweatheart)?

At my campus the Phi Mu's have Phi guys...maybe make something like that up that works with your letters.

My chapter calls them Gammie Guys. Alpha Phi at my university calls them Phimales, which I think is really cute. :)

We used to have "King of Diamonds" . What are your symbols and colors and name-maybe we could suggest something.

My roomies sorority call him "Man of the Year". I like that a lot!

in delta gamma, if one of the boyfriends does a lot to help out, they can be named "anchor man"

We recently gave out certificate/awards to all our Deepher Dukes.

Two of our male advisors got one as well.

We just use Sweetheart, but that's ususally voted on at formal, along with Cinderella (female version of Sweetheart)

A nickname that I've heard for guys that help us out is "Bordeaux Beau", because our colors are silver and bordeaux. If you can find some cute alliteration with your symbols our colors, that would probably be snazzy.

We have a Chi Delt King. We give him a set of letters (not the full on stitched ones...) It's the equivalent to a sweetheart and we nominate and vote one in each year. What the King decides to do to help is his choice. But usually the come around and help with recruitment, building the booth, bring in little treats once in a while, and support us in philanthropy events.

My chapter has a Xi Man but I know of other Alpha Xi Delta chapters who call him their sweetheart.

Please help pick a name...... also how do we "officially" vote for this so that people wont just give this title to their man, brother, friend, etc.......

our full name is Delta Omega Delta........

Or to steal AXD's type of name, you could go with the "D-Man".

Why can't you decide how to vote on them? How do you vote on pledges? How do you vote for other things?

I think she means whether we'd recommend open or closed balloting. For something like this, I'd suggest a secret ballot. That way, no one's feelings are hurt when someone doesn't vote for their friend's significant other.

We had a rule that the sweetheart could NOT be a boyfriend - #1 people would pick their own boyfriends and #2 if they broke up it would be hairy.

That's such a good idea. My EX has a Sweetheart paddle that I really don't want him to have now...but then again, I want to see him even less, so I don't care to go find him to get it back. Plus, for all I know he burned it (although knowing him and how obsessive he was he might have a shrine built to it:rolleyes: )

Nominate men who help you out. Keep it to about 2-4 guys final. Have the guys make a little speech or something and then vote. If you send word to every fraternity on campus that you are looking for a sweetheart, you are looking at 1) a very long meeting, 2) guys who aren't serious about it, 3) pledges that have no clue who you are but were put up to it by their brothers (it happened).

We didn't take it as seriously the first year we did it... and it showed. However we did get some creative speeches. There were just way too many nominees. Just start brainstorming a list of guys, narrow it down to a few good men, have them say something to y'all, and vote!

Are you looking for a sweetheart type thing or just to honor guys who help out a lot?
Our is called "White Knight" and we give it to a guy who has helped us out a lot over the past year. One year it was our Social Advisor's husband. He went to all the social functions with her and took care of all the drunk people and put up with a lot of crap. Then another year we gave it to our Recruitment chair's husband (he was her fiance at the time she served as Recr. chair) because he did a ton of work around the house to get it spruced up for rush.
I think picking the person and orchestrating the little ceremony falls under the "Career and Personal Development" chair person's responsibilities. So usually that person or committee decides on who to honor. We don't have a problem of girls picking their boyfriends and we would only give it to a boyfriend if he had really helped out a lot.

There is a part in our constitution now forbidding the title of "arrowmen" to be conferred upon guys who are good friends of a PiPhi chapter. I thought that was quite funny since our chapter never had "arrowmen" but apparently they did exist...much to National's chagrin!
