Ken Jennings on Jeapordy

Has anyone seen this guy? He has been on Jeopardy for about 3 weeks now. He has won $600,00 too. Its amazaing how much he knows about random topics.

AXOKatie 06-28-2004 01:32 PM

i've seen him, i think he's a little fishy though....Quiz Show, anyone?

OrigamiTulip 06-28-2004 02:00 PM

This guy seems unstoppable. Mr BR and I have a bet going on how long before he loses. He says he'll break $1M, I think it will come to an end before that.

Either way, its got to be a ratings bonanza :)

LeslieAGD 06-28-2004 02:02 PM

He has, I think, a 16 day record. Props to him, but personally I'm a little sick of him and can't wait for a new champion.

MattUMASSD 06-28-2004 02:37 PM

I think this week is his last week

ADPiShannan 06-28-2004 03:29 PM

Ive watched him from the first day as I love to watch Jeopardy in the evenings. Its cute how he writes his name diff each day. I too think this week will be his last, though I thought that about last week. I think he wants to make sure he is way up there so noone can get close to breaking his record, plus the money is easy to get. He seems to know a lot about nothing lol.....

cutiepatootie 06-28-2004 04:46 PM

hey i say good going...i dont see anything fishy about it..... Jepordy took the rule away about topping off at a limit and there are ppl who know a lot of useless things we take for granted ....so good for him! Love to see him on Millioniare better yet super millioniare.

DolphinChicaDDD 06-28-2004 06:11 PM

I'm with the Quiz show thoughts. I'm rooting for him to lose. Its time for some else. That and I've been trying to get onto Jeopardy since I was first eligible for the Teen Tournement, and I'm a bit bitter that he is still on there and I can't even get an audtition!!!

There is always hope for tonight.

I'm sick of him, too, but I don't suspect anything fishy.

He's really quick on the signal button (watch the other contestants' frustrations with theirs), and several times, even though he rang in, he didn't know the answer.

That, and he immediately goes for the topics he knows well, builds up his total, then has a lot of money for the Daily Double so that he can bet high.

tinydancer 06-28-2004 08:55 PM

I was wondering if he won again today. I missed it.

I missed Thursday and Friday due to a community service convention. I was wondering if I was going to see him on tonight. Jeopardy comes on in about 45 minutes.

When they first started the kids Jeopardy, they did not know yet how they were going to do it. My daughter called to audition and we were invited to the test. They put the kids on the Jeopardy set and put the parents in an empty sound studio. Gave all of us a test (daughter said kid's test was really easy). After the test adults were taken back to the studio to be with our kids. If either the kid or the parent passed the test then you got to stay and play a sample game. I know we stayed because daughter did so well. About 75% of the people were let go. I was amazed at parents yelling at their kids for not doing well, and as they were going on and on I was thinking to myself "you didn't pass the test either if you are not asked to stay." When they decided on their set up for the game, they decided that daughter was too old to compete. She was later asked to audition for teen jeopardy but was at camp and could not get there. Maybe now she will try out for college jeopardy.

He plays the way I play at home. Sadly, I didn't pass my Jeopardy tryout. I might tryout again. I'm really smart when I play at home. :)

Our local paper here in the South Bay of Los Angeles, just ran an article yesterday about Ken. The episodes were actually filmed in February. They mentioned that Ken is really fast on the buzzer - there are lights on the sides of the board that the players can see, once the lights go out they can buzz in. He just times it right to buzz in and lock everyone else out.

As the yahoo article linked about and the Daily Breeze article said. One of Kens side jobs is researching and creating questions for the College Quiz Bowl. No wonder he's doing fantastic. The Daily Breeze writer wasn't able to find out if Ken finally loses or if he comes back in the fall because he was still winning when the season's taping was done.

cutiepatootie 07-12-2004 12:05 AM

Ken Jennings looks like and seems like the goofy prom date i had in high school ..... he and david could be related hehehehe :)

smiley21 07-12-2004 06:37 AM

the goofy ones always become rich. it is just a fact of life

mmcat 07-12-2004 07:30 AM

cold pizza's talking about him this morning so me-thinks he's still winning.

AXiD Sweetie 10-31-2004 03:46 AM

I never saw an ep. with him in it... How much did he end up winning? How many episiodes was he on???

Xylochick216 10-31-2004 11:11 AM

Supposedly the episode where he loses airs around Nov. 9th. I know he's on until at least the 5th...

Rollergirl2001 11-04-2004 06:17 PM

I can't wait for him to lose. Seriously. Oh, he made the SportsCenter top ten on Tuesday night for becoming the all time winner of any game show with over $2 million.

Xylochick216 11-04-2004 06:40 PM

So we were doing the promo spots for Jeopardy for the next 2 weeks. We had promos for Ken on Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday the college tourney begins. The 9th is when the show he loses on is predicted to air, and we found it funny that the tourney was starting mid-week. So we're all guessing Tuesday night is when he loses. Either that, or they're holding out for sweeps.

You tried out, too? My tryout was 3 days after I left my exhusband. Needless to say, I messed up big time. The sad part is, I knew the answers - I just couldn't get it down fast enough.

As for Ken, I heard that he reaches something like $2.5 million prior to being dethroned. If he leaves his wife, I have dibs!

Just a minute - he's a Mormon! Maybe I can be #2....?! ;)

AGDee 11-05-2004 12:48 AM

I heard that he loses after 75 episodes. I don't know if that means the 75th episode or the 76th...

AznSAE 11-30-2004 11:45 AM

rumors has it that today is the day he goes down. what is he up to now? $2 million?

The King has been dethroned!!!

honeychile 11-30-2004 09:45 PM

I have rent my clothing and am sitting shiva. :(

Between the promotion of tonight's episode and the look on his face after hearing the correct answer on Final Jeopardy!, I knew. *sniffle*

Xylochick216 11-30-2004 10:12 PM

We saw the episode Friday when they were satelliting it in... he honestly didn't seem terribly upset. Everyone at work thinks he was tired of being away from home and decided to just leave.

SPOILER: The woman who dethroned the king is dethroned tomorrow night... she didn't stay around long!

I somehow wish she had been "worth" his loss. She surely had the right attitude going into the game.

AND, H&R Block has volunteered to do Ken Jennings' taxes for FREE the rest of his life!!

cutiepatootie 12-01-2004 12:07 AM

I watched it and it looked like he was throwing it. his reaction on final jeprody was fake.....i truly think he purposly threw it
