Paris Hilton Sorority Movie

From entertainment.msn.com

Paris Pledges Sorority Pic

For someone who thought Wal-Mart sold "wall stuff," Paris Hilton seems to have accomplished much of what Mariah Carey hopes to do, namely master the many forms of media. Not only will the "Simple Life" star soon publish a book (her bio, "Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose," hits shelves on September 7) and release a single (the subtly titled "Screwed," which arrives this summer), but she's landed her very first starring role on the big screen. As you might have guessed, it's not exactly a part that will challenge Meryl Streep's performance in "Sophie's Choice." According to the New York Post, Paris will bring her thespian talents to the latest National Lampoon campus comedy.

In the flick, the attention-craving hotel heiress, who recently suffered through a small role in the horror movie "House of Wax" ("I hurt my knee -- it was bleeding," she told Entertainment Tonight. "But it looks good, so it's worth it."), will play the head of a snobby sorority whose motto is "be perfect." The movie is billed as a mix of "Animal House," "Revenge of the Nerds," and "American Pie," which we're hoping means Paris' likely bitchy and almost certainly scantily clad character will get her comeuppance by a pastry-loving, toga-wearing genius.

Oh boy! Just like real life. Ugh!

Kevin 06-25-2004 12:42 PM

All of these GLO movies are good and bad for us. I'm not really sure where I fall on that issue. It's good because it keeps us in the national consciousness and bad because it gets people interested for the wrong reasons (often).

What actually pisses me off about this article more than anything is that it takes 3 pretty good pictures and tries to put an unproven, unseen message on par with them. I mean... on par with Animal House?

You're setting the bar way too high.

absolutuscchick 06-25-2004 02:48 PM

Ooooh I cannot wait for this one!

It's really good to see you on GreekChat again! We MISSED you here girl!!!!

:)

wreckingcrew 06-25-2004 03:22 PM

seriously,

why do we keep having to try and redo Animal House?

I mean, i dug Van Wilder, Old School and the others, but most of the time anything trying to emulate AH ends up falling flat.

Ever seen "Going Greek"? Perfect example.

Where have you been?

Anyway, this movie sounds like a great candidate for direct-to-video.

smiley21 06-26-2004 09:51 AM

hey rachel! you sure popped out of nowhere!!

texas*princess 06-26-2004 01:01 PM

do you have the name of the movie you're describing??

I work in movie-retail, and so I get to read all the "trade" magazines that has upcoming releases.

One in particular I remember seeing was a National Lampoon movie called "Dorm Daze" that I don't think was ever released in theatres.

I didn't see anything on it about Paris Hilton though.

Rudey 06-26-2004 01:16 PM

the name of the movie is 'National Lampoon's Pledge This'.....what a clever title:rolleyes:

AlphaPhiBubbles 06-26-2004 06:17 PM

I actually don't mind these types of misleading movies or shows, and I don't mind Paris Hilton TOO much. But I hate the aftermath i am forced to deal with when everyone goes and sees the movie/show and asks me STUPID ASS QUESTIONS. I wish people would just get a clue.

kddani 06-26-2004 07:41 PM

wonder if she'll ever actually go to college?

Can you imagine her going through rush?

Hey, I know all the movies portrays Greeks as this and that, but we all know the truth about things...

All I gotta say is that Paris Hilton is HOTTTTT!!!! I'm sooo down to see this!!!

decadence 06-28-2004 12:08 PM

There was an feature about it in Variety - June 25th issue.

That said ... on June 22nd there was a story about her being in lead role of a Dungeons and Dragons film.

In March, a story she'd be star of a film called Ibiza about a girl who goes missing in Europe.

The Pledge This film is variously attributed to being directed by a music vid director William Heins, produced by indie film director Juan Carlos Zapata.

Please ignore my earlier questioning of veracity of details about this film.

Details are confirmed.

NEW YORK, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Taking the casting call from the couch to the cyber highway, National Lampoon has teamed with TalentMatch.com to host the film industry's first online casting
call.

Paris Hilton will star in her first feature film role working with at least one TalentMatch.com member who will be awarded a speaking role in the upcoming film comedy "National Lampoon's Pledge This!" Ms. Hilton's agreement to headline the cast of the latest National Lampoon project was recently announced by the film's producer.

<snip boring drivel>

Paris Hilton will star as Victoria, the President of Gamma Gamma Gamma sorority at "South Beach University," to be filmed at the University of Miami, with physical production scheduled to begin later this summer. National Lampoon's "Pledge This!," will tell the story of twenty female pledges of the most elite sorority on campus as they battle the girls of SASS, Sisters Against Stupid Sororities.

"As the Tri-Gamma sorority motto is 'BE PERFECT,' we knew there was no one better for the lead role than Paris Hilton," said the producer <edit>. "The movie is best described as "Animal House" meets "Revenge of the Nerds" with "American Pie" humor. We're confident that Paris is the perfect addition."

"To date, National Lampoon has cast several shows using TalentMatch.com professionals. We're looking for actors that can convincingly portray themselves as students of South Beach University" said Doug Bennett, President National Lampoon. TalentMatch.com provides a community where talent and industry experts can collaborate on a successful project."

WHOA! Wait a minute here. Mallory Keaton from "Family Ties" was a member of Gamma Gamma Gamma. Do you suppose we'll see Mallory in this movie? Perhaps at an alumnae event? I wonder what ever happened to her and Nick...
