Pardon the Interruption
Anyone watch this show on ESPN? I try to watch it every night, I'm definitely a fan. Kornheiser and Wilbon are good hosts, and unlike other shows, it really doesn't lose too much when one of them is off (like last night Bob Ryan from the Boston Globe was a co-host).
Anyone else like the show? |
my boyfriend got me stuck on this show. i can only watch when he is around. i think the topics/discussions are really good.
|
I'm a big fan of PTI and now Around the Horn that they've got Stat Boy running it.
There's just something about the format that i like, and i think Wilbon and Kornheiser are hilarious. I do hate on Around the Horn when they refer to Tim Cowlishaw as "Texas Tim". He may be from Dallas, but like most states with 2 large cities, there's a difference in Dallas-think and Houston-think. Houston being the better. Woody Paige cracks me the shit up. Kitso KS 361 |

is that the show where they only have a certain amount of time to talk about a certain topic? if it is, i love that show! |
Aside from Kornheiser thinking Dog Show was a sport and that the dogs are athletes, I enjoy both shows.
I actually liked Kellerman. Stat Boy just seems more preppie and more stifler-like. He picks one writer to be a dick to every show, and it's almost often Paige, who rules. Besides, Kellerman took the second best writer on the panel 1) Woody Paige 2) Michael Holley (Now at FSW on I, Max with Kellerman) 3) Marriotti 4) Plaske (sp)/Bob Ryan 5) JA Adande/Michael Smith 6) Jackie McMullen 7) Calishaw 8) Blackistone (sp) 9) Burgess 10) Dan Chanoff SUCKS AND NEEDS TO GO As a future sports writer, I can't get enough of both shows. Around the Horn is more of a game played by really good writers. PTI is more of an in-depth discussion with a time-limit. |

Jackie McMullen is a solid sportswriter...she's another one who should write more columns in the Globe. I'm not as big a fan of Around the Horn - for some reason the host bothers me, although the sportswriters they have on are hilarious (especially Paige). |

that's the one |
used to watch it everyday now its old news and i could care less. The only time it is good is when Tony and Mike are the ones hosting and saying "your boy insert name is in the news, what do you think."
|
pti is a very consistent show that doesn't take itself too seriously -- but is never way off the pace. around the horn is dull.
|
I love that show. :) I actually preferred Max Kellerman to Statboy on ATH but now I watch him on I, Max, so it's all good.

To quote Tony Montana: "Hey, you weren't kidding mang..." |
I don't watch now that there aren't any sports I care about in season right now, but in the fall and winter I watch religiously. I'm trying to get my friend a job as Stat Girl...she knows more about sports than any guy or girl I've ever met (and don't start hating).

Do I gotta straighten you guys out all the time? Are we talking any sports in particular jabroni?

PTI grew on me and now I enjoy watching it. I just like seeing these two columists screem at each other while many topics are being touched on in a short time.
|
Check it. Last night I was at happy hour with my buddies at this restaurant in DC that we go to all the time. We were sitting outside on the patio and Tony Kornheiser walked by. The guys at the table behind us apparently knew him because they were like "Tony!" and he came over and talked to them for a few minutes while we all stared at him. He went inside and ate dinner with I think his family. He looks a lot older in real life than he does on TV.

I CANNOT STAND STEPHEN A. SMITH. GET HIM OFF ESPN FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, I like Skip Bayless (though the clones hate him apparently). This is a good duo though of Smith and Bayless, it's just Stephen A. rubs me the wrong way.
Maybe it's the Philly attitude......lol When Jackie McMullen had her 15 seconds on ATH, she paid a nice tribute to Mr. Wiley. He was a very classy gentleman, and was able to criticize without getting under people's skin....unlike Stephen A. lol |
We always watch this and around the horn (I think that's what it's called) at the bar up at school. Although it's usually on a monday so it's fairly quiet. :)

Ralph Wiley's writing was great, particularly when he did the uncensored thought balloons. I don't know if ESPN's site still has those in their archives as a tribute. |

I actually like Stephen A...he knows what he's talking about, and he's pretty entertaining when he talks about it. Wiley was an excellent writer, as I've said in another thread on him - he was able to say things against the grain, a direct contrast to some reporters (Jim Gray, Ahmad Rashad, etc.) who let their hero worship get in the way of the story. |
Stephen A. Smith, in a RARE moment of genius, brilliantly ripped the Chargers today on PTI.
|
I LOVE that show. My boyfriend watch it every opportunity we get & we even tend to argue our own points when it's commercial time. ;)
We also love Around The Horn. Woody Paige is probably my fave but he gets muted a lot.:( Oh Well. I still love that show. |
Stephen A Smith knows his basketball, Ill give him that. I used to hate him, but now that hes not a Laker d***rider, hes coo.

What's everyone's main issue with Stephen A.? He's actually one of my favorite analysts on ESPN.
