Favorite Beaches
With summer more or less on its way. Lets discuss everyone's favorite beaches.
|
Hutchinson Island, Florida. Nice waves which you normally do not find in Florida and the water is clear blue.
Another nice beach is New Smyrna, Florida. The sand is like powder. |
Island Beach State Park, NJ
It is one of the few truly untouched beach system in the world. It has the primary dune, secondary dune, and the forest. Yes, there is supposed to be a forest on the beach. Plus, the waves are usually decent. I love the fact there aren't many guarded places because it usually pretty clear. I go for the beaches that are aesthetically pleasing. Also toping my list are North Wildwood, Harvey Ceders, Cape May(the Point, The Nature Conservancy Beach, and the place that the nun's own-who were ever so kind when I was an intern at TNC and needed a bathroom) and Barnegate Light. All in Jersey. I'm very patial to my own beaches, and don't really go to anyone else's...although I would like to see Hawaii, Calf, and Austrialia.:) Oh yeah, I'm also a Marine Bio dork who goes for all the above over the commericalized beaches. |
i LOVE St Petersburg/Clearwater, FL
|
My ABSOLUTE favorite is Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsunday Islands in Australia. It makes American beaches look so ugly.
The only American beach I've ever been to is Myrtle Beach. It's fun, but the water is gross and VERY crowded. I prefer to swim in the hotel pool and look at the ocean :) |

Seriously, I think the Clearwater beaches and the keys are the most beautiful beaches in the US. Although I've never been to the west coast or Hawaii, so I don't know. But from what I've seen, that's my opinion. I looooove Caribbean beaches! They're beautiful! |
Newport....OC Biatch!

You know, there's only one public entrance to the beaches @ PVB. It's almost totally private. |

I'd say my favorite beaches abroad would have to be in the Belaric Islands on Ibizza, beaches in the Gotland area in Sweden and on Margarita Island off of the Venezuelan coast. Favorite domestic beaches would be New Smyrna, Ponce Inlet, Clearwater, Isla Morada and SoBe.

Huge difference....they keep getting shittier as you go north. Maybe it's just the people that live in the areas, I dont know. But it seems like, when they had the opening of the beaches festival, the further north you go the more the area looks like crap. Its seems more run down the closer you get to the naval base. Don't get me wrong...I've found some excellent surf shops in Atlantic and Neptune Beaches.....but as far as the houses on the ocean, they seemed a little run down compared to PVB. |

i have to agree with you. that is why i do not like Atlantic Beach. it does not look that great. i adore Ponte Vedra Beach cause i love the seclusion of the neighborhoods. it has a very elite atmosphere. not too crazy about most of the people that live there (this of course excludes you craig) but the houses, hotels, and well just about everything are so beautiful. in between ponte vedra and st. augustine is the crappiest and scariest beach i have ever been to....Vilano Beach. that beach freaks me out. |
Being from So cal...Seal beach to me is really nice
up north there is a secluded little patch of beach a friend took me too called san gergorinio beach hawaii by far! clearwater beach in florida rocks! anarondeck chairs already waiting for you on the white sands........ahhhhh :D |
I have many for different reasons.
Guy watching and surfing: Waimea Bay, Velzyland, Hale`iwa (all on the North Shore). I never surf NS during the Winter. I value my life. Bodyboarding: Makapu`u or Sandy's Sunning my buns: Lanikai, Kailua, Malaekahana or Queen's Surf Heaven on Earth: Makena (Maui) and Anini/Kalihiwai (Kauai) I'm spoiled. I don't think I could ever appreciate any of the other beaches on the mainland. :) |

I'm not as crazy as I once was....my girl has chilled me out to a point you can't imagine. I was out cutting the grass the other day and was talking to my neighbor while taking a break, he said he's surprised that we're not always having huge parties after he found out we were in school ( I thought it was kind of wierd that he wanted to know what I do.) I love St. Augustine. The old part of the city and where Flagler is are both very beautiful as well as Casa de Rio ( I think thats it). I remember going there for the first time and thought to myself that i should have went to Flagler for 2 yrs when I started college being as it's right near the beach and I could have surfed everyday. :p |
Long Island has nice beaches especially the Hamptons. I like the Bahamas also.

SoBe, as you know, is down by Miami. Ponte Vedra Beach is outside of Jacksonville. PVB is kind of like the Palm Beach/Boca Raton of northern Florida. I'll actually be back home in Palm Beach in a couple of weeks. What kind of stuff do you like to do? I can tell you a million things to do in SoFL and especially in the Miami area. I'll probably be moving to Coral Gables (Miami) in late August because my Fiance keeps dinging me about moving back to SoFL, it depends on what I get going here. Its a total different world from SoFL to NoFL. |

I also LOVE the beach down in Naples. Absolutely beautiful. Although they are gorgeous I am not a fan of Gulf beaches b/c I hate having to do the stingray shuffle :p |

I love Ponce because its never crowded and looks really nice. Its one of those beaches that is in Florida that a lot of people really dont know about therefore making it a diamond in the rough. Its so relaxing to get away from everything and go there. |
I'm partial to the Outer Banks of North Carolina!

Old Silver Beach in N. Falmouth, MA when not filled to capacity with tourists
Falmouth Heights Beach, E. Falmouth, MA the beach at Port Olympico in Barcelona |

I'm a big fan of Moosup in Martha's Vineyard. It's a beautiful beach, with the cliffs nearby and all of that. I don't think it gets too crowded either. |

I forgot to add a beach to my list. Abroad, my favorite beach would be any beach on the island of St. Maarten. The water is bright blue and it's warm. The sand is like powder. The beach is absolutely gorgeous because it's on a tropical island but there are these beautiful green hills that run along the beach. |

Waimea Bay, Hale`iwa - North Shore of Oahu
Beaches of Antigua El Mendano Beach, Cabo San Lucas Misson Beach, San Diego to fans of the Jersey Shore-- why West Coast beaches will always be better-- No "noseeums" or flies biting the isht out of you. |

Makena is tight.
my dad told me there aint no better beaches than Vietnam beaches or thailand or he philipines. Fukkit (or however you spell it) is supposedly relaly really nice. the best beach in the OC is HANDS DOWN...SALT CREEK...or Strands. Newport can suck a left nut. Huntington beach sucks too, even though i am from there. only good thing about newport or HB is that it has hot chicks and lots of stuff to do. Northern california is sweet too. Santa Cruz and mavericks...CRAZY. Mission Beach the other one that starts with a C down in san diego is sweet. i dated a girl from the gulf coast of Mississippi. your beaches aint got shit on cali. :) |
Quote:
I'm not a big fan of Santa Cruz, but Maverick's. I vow to surf there at least once before I die. |
