Your gym

Who belongs where?

I don't have anything special just a Ballys Premier Plus so I can visit any Ballys anywhere.

I want to be here but my membership is lifetime and I feel like I'd be wasting it if I just let it die.

amycat412 06-14-2004 08:19 PM

Crunch, but thinking of defecting to Equniox because its less than a block away

Peaches-n-Cream 06-14-2004 08:24 PM

I don't belong to a gym. I occasionally use the erg my bf bought. I am really not a workout person.

bruinaphi 06-14-2004 08:32 PM

Bodies In Motion. It's the best. Amy, they are opening a new BIM in Hollywood soon!!!

mu_agd 06-14-2004 08:40 PM

Boston Sports Club.

i absolutely love it!

OtterXO 06-14-2004 08:44 PM

I belong to 24 Hour Fitness. They have locations EVERYWHERE in California so its a good option. If I didn't belong to 24 Hour I would probably join Frog's down here in SD.

SSS1365 06-14-2004 08:45 PM

Fitness First. They're in the DC metro area, and in Florida, I believe.

Munchkin03 06-14-2004 08:58 PM

Considering joining Equinox. They just opened up a new one near my office, and it's not too far from my apartment, either.

valkyrie 06-14-2004 09:04 PM

I belong to the only gym in my tiny little town.

Kevin 06-14-2004 09:17 PM

When I move downtown, I'll see how Law School plus job are treating me, then I'll consider joining the YMCA.

DeltAlum 06-14-2004 10:17 PM

Full fitness center at the clubhouse where we live. All residents can use it.

This is not a little room with a couple of tread mills.

Lots of machines, weights, indoor and outdoor pool. hot tub, sauna, etc.

bucutie02 06-14-2004 10:40 PM

I go to Ballys- which I like 10 times better than 24 hours fitness!

ZTAngel 06-14-2004 10:53 PM

LA Fitness

It's ok but it's the best gym to go to in the area of Orlando I live in so it's really crowded when I go after work (5pm-8pm).

astroAPhi 06-14-2004 11:17 PM

Our school gym, because I am still technically a one-class-per-semester graduate student. :D

Sister Havana 06-15-2004 12:07 AM

I belong to LifeStyles Fitness Center, which is run by the Bolingbrook Park District. (so I get a resident discount) I like it.

ILLINIgirl 06-15-2004 12:40 AM

I work out at Lifetime Fitness! The one by me (in Schaumburg, IL) was actually used last summer to film a Crest commercial (not for whitestrips but "whitening effects" or whatever it is you put on your teeth at night to whiten them...)--just an interesting tid-bit, look for the commercial on tv, its on all the time! :D

lifesaver 06-15-2004 04:39 AM

Long Life Fitness. Used to be 24 hours. Not anymore.

Like it tho becasue there arent a lot of people there.

Everyone in San Antonio uses Racquetball & Fitness and if I belonged there I'd never get any workouts completed becasue I'd be chatting the whole time. I hate socializing at the gym. I'm there to workout, not make friends. I already have those. I dotn need a spotter becasue I have a trainer. If I want to chat, I can do it with him.

KSigkid 06-15-2004 06:06 AM

Boston Sports Club

Same company as mu_agd, but I go to a different branch...love it, I used to go to Gold's in Boston but BSC is so much better.

lauralaylin 06-15-2004 08:36 AM

WOW is where I go. It used to be a Bally's, and it is now under construction to get rid of some Bally's stuff, like their pool. It's laid back, although I think some Tufts students may go there during the school year.

_Lisa_ 06-15-2004 08:37 AM

I go to the YMCA, I love it there. There are a lot of locations around Lexington & from anywhere that I am (work, home, etc) I can reach one in about 5 minutes.

ADPiShannan 06-15-2004 08:43 AM

Evolution by Yoga is where I got a membership to. My hubby has a Ballys membership so I may start going there to run on the threadmill and use there other machines. Lately Ive been doing a lot of running outside. We have a awesome metropark practically in the backyard so its nice to run and jog there, you see a ton of deer and animals so its very serene. We are thinking of taking up bike riding too.

Lady Pi Phi 06-15-2004 09:43 AM

I belong to The Sports Clubs of Canada.
They have some good facilities my problem is I never go. I hate going to the gym.

I have the same. The machines are a little older but it's still a full gym and it's free, so I don't mind.

lonestaradpi 06-15-2004 10:23 AM

Spectrum Club. It's owned by Racquetball & Fitness here in San Antonio but it is much nicer than R & F. My husband and I are like in the lowest income bracket there! We have worked out next to Congressmen. It is a great place! And I should go use my expensive membership there right now. Ta ta.

My boy Tony works at that Gym. Ever see a really big black personal trainer there, thats him. He usually hangs out with these two blonde personal trainer chicks that work there too. How many are there in O-town?

As for me....Golds Gym. There's a bunch of guys who've done a lot of juice at my gym and being next to them makes me look smaller, but it gives me motivation. Some of those guys have been doing juice for 15 years, are in their 40's and still doing Ultimate Fighting Champion stuff. Those guys are motivation. Its just sometimes I get pissed at all the geeky people and couples who come in around 5:30-8:00pm and they really dont know how to work out so they take forever to do a set and I'm getting tired of them. I'm thinking about changing to Bailey's.

ISUKappa 06-15-2004 10:33 AM

Rockwell Recreation (my husband's company's fitness center.) It's okay. I only get there once a week because I usually work out outside since it's nice.

Rudey 06-15-2004 10:39 AM

This is a really cool place too but I doubt people work out too hard there http://www.eastbankclub.com/

that place looks amazing.

ISUKappa 06-15-2004 10:45 AM

And I'd much rather work out by myself than with someone. I hate working out with my husband because he talks to everyone and then complains how he doesn't get a good workout in. I'm like dude, you're the one who did football and track for 14 million years, you know the workouts. Shut your yap and lift already.

the initiation fee was the only fee that i saw that looked extreme. the monthly dues didn't seem that bad, although i don't know what exactly is included in that.

chideltjen 06-15-2004 11:17 AM

I'm a 24 hr fitness girl. And I have an all club membership because everywhere I go, there seems to be one around, unlike Cal-Fit... which is everywhere in Sacto, but no where else.

XOMichelle 06-15-2004 11:23 AM

My company has a gym that I go to. It's tiny, but it's cheap and I never have an excuse not to go. The downside is they don't have all the equipment I would like, and they are not open on weekends. But I can go to the University gym as an alumni for $5 if I like, which I have done on occasion to get a workout in on the weekends.

Interesting that they have pricing for "husband and wife" and not "couples." No sinners at the East Bank Club!

500 initiation and 155 a month is still high for 1 club. I've seen nasty fees for places in nyc but often there are a couple places to work out at or they have agreements with certain clubs so if you travel you can use theirs. I don't know if it includes access to everything though because I'd heard it was more.

My ballys allows me to use any gym, any service, any class, in any city and it's not nearly as bad.

i did think that was a bit odd.

Sistermadly 06-15-2004 11:36 AM

Fit City for Women. I love working out in a women's only facility, but my new job has a fitness center on site, so I might try that out for awhile. I'm not used to working out around boys though, and I'm a little worried that they might try to give me isht when I use the weight machines.

GeekyPenguin 06-15-2004 11:53 AM

I work out on campus, we have two recs (which is really excessive for a school this small) but it's nice because there's not really ever a wait for anything. All my sorority sisters would work out at Curves, which I never understood - why were they paying for a gym when we lived across the street from one?

ADPiShannan 06-15-2004 11:53 AM

but if you fall into that 21-29 age where I do then it seems the fees arent too bad. I wish we had something like that here. Id definately invest in it.

Ummm you're in Ohio. I bet the gym prices are much cheaper just like Chicago is much cheaper than NYC. For my ballys premier plus I think they charge around 70-80 a month now but I pay 11.50 since I locked in a long time ago. To pay 250 down and 105 a month for one gym at our age is still ridiculous to me.
