Delta Zeta Random Thread

Let's start a place for every question that doesn't fit into any other thread.. sound good? :)

Let the randomness begin! :D

PlymouthDZ 06-14-2004 09:49 AM

I'll start... this is for AWJDZ...

Delta Zeta Greek letters for your sig.. (Take out the spaces!)

[COLOR = deeppink] [ font= symbol ] [ SIZE = 5 ] D [ /SIZE ][ /COLOR] [ /FONT] [ COLOR = green ][ SIZE = 5 ][ FONT = symbol ] Z [ /SIZE] [ /font] [ /COLOR]

You can change the colors.. that's just how they are in my signature.

How this helps! :)

~Ann Marie~

AWJDZ 06-14-2004 11:24 AM

yeayyy....I think I have a signature now! Thanks a bunch! Nothing much going on here today...I am sitting in a tech. workshop right now!

AWJDZ 06-14-2004 11:26 AM

OHHHH NOOOOO...lettme try this sign. thingy again!

dzandiloo 06-14-2004 11:37 AM

AWDJZ-
Click "quote" at the bottom of this note, and the copy the HTML that will show up in place of the letters you see below. Then paste it into your signature line & you'll be all set!

DZ
To those who my life may touch in slight measure,
May I give graciously of what is mine

(you can make changes to the text between the html tags if you like...I just did this one b/c no one has it yet, as far as parts of the creed...)

PlymouthDZ 06-14-2004 11:43 AM

Make sure to take out ALL the spaces!

like dzandiloo said.. click quote and copy (these are just the letters.. the same thing I posted previously.)

DZ

PlymouthDZ 06-14-2004 11:49 AM

Hey Andi.. are there other parts of the creed that aren't being used in sigs?

I went to the Olive Garden lastnight for dinner.. I'm eating the leftovers now for lunch.. so yummy :)

Also.. I start work today.. FINALLY! yay!! Even though I'm only going in from 3pm-7pm. oh well :)

AWJDZ 06-14-2004 12:06 PM

:D :D :D :D oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!! I owe you a million turtle hugs! :D :D :D :D

AWJDZ 06-14-2004 12:11 PM

 wow...that messed it up!

i tried to add my name with a little ~*~ Amy ~*~

i will figure this out...but the workshop is almost over....yeay for being in a tech. workshop

Oooh, I'm jealous. I don't love Olive Garden, but I'm doing Atkins right now, so no pasta for me!

I bumped an old thread where I tried to list all the people using different parts of the Creed. I was wrong about the one above-DZhbrown was using it at one time...need to look at one of her notes to see if she's still using it!

Andi

DZHBrown 06-14-2004 05:31 PM

Yep, I'm still using it! But feel free to use it, too! :) It's such a great part of our great creed.

I wish it would rain. I'm one of those odd ones who loves storms and rainy days!!

Started my summer class today. I don't know what I think of it, yet!

dzandiloo 06-15-2004 10:18 AM

Am I a bad mom b/c I am considering going to San Angelo this weekend to help the chapter at Angelo State w/their recruitment workshop instead of going to my son's last baseball game (it's a tournament, double elimination, they've already lost one & not likely to win the 2nd)? He's going to play fall ball, on a better team...

ACK! One of my li'ls is going to be there, and I haven't seen her in 10 years! I'm so torn!

I say go to San Angelo.

Have you been the all, or the majority of his games thus far?
If yes, then go to SA.

It is important for you to reconnect with your little (if you feel it is important) and important for you do to the things you are passionate about.

(plus, his team isn't likely to win, correct? :p)

PlymouthDZ 06-15-2004 11:01 AM

I saw the bump, thanks Andi :)
I think I might put some of the creed in my sig real soon. I love our creed.. its fabulous :)

So, I talked on the phone with my boyfriend's sister for an hour and a half lastnight (that's highly unusual for us.. usually we have like a 15 minute convo then we're done)
It was so nice.. we talked about how their mother is talking to her about myself and my bf have kids real soon (hi, we're not even engaged yet.. :p) because she wants grandkids. ohboy.

But also we talked about a BUNCH of random things. :)

Yes, I've been to all but 2 - both conflicted w/my daughter's softball games, and I'm a coach for her team, so there wasn't a choice. His team will take a month off, then start up again during August for their version of Fall Ball (stupid-August isn't Fall, but their lease on the fields expires end of Aug so that can't have real Fall ball)...so I'll get to see him play a bunch more this summer.... I'm so torn.

dzandiloo 06-17-2004 11:03 AM

OK. I talked to my son & he is cool w/me going to Angelo. So now I have to ask-I have never had direct exposure to this chapter before. I know my stuff & really want to help them out since they've been w/o alum support for a while, but don't want them to feel threatened, or to think I'm coming in to take something that is "theirs." Any advice on how I can best make them receptive to my involvement?

PlymouthDZ 06-17-2004 11:51 AM

I have FIRST HAND experience with this!!!! (We had a CCD come in, who was from a recently chartered chapter) We had been doing some things a bit differently (just different because we have a smaller chapter, and it worked better for us)

She wanted us to do things HER way, when in reality, the things didn't work for our chapter.

So, I would suggest that you approach the women and say, upfront "I want to help you, in any way possible, Please don't think I want to come in and change everything for you women. I want to do whatever I can to help you to be as strong of a chapter as I know you can be" and so on.

Just try to be as willing as possibly to be flexible with your ideas, and to incorporate their chapter ways with maybe more "efficient" ways.

I hope that helps a bit?

PlymouthDZ 06-17-2004 11:57 AM

I won tickets to go see the Moody Blues next Thursday.. owww owwww :D :D

DZHBrown 06-18-2004 11:35 AM

Why must it be so freaking hot?! Okay, well, today is not that hot, but the humidity is killing me. The A/C in my car is broke, so I look and feel nasty anywhere I go.

Met a cute boy in my class....he's married :(

Met a nice boy in my class....he's awfully short. lol

So glad it's Friday!

AWJDZ 06-18-2004 11:56 AM

ughh...so much to do...tan, work, workout, drive to the parents house in VA....ughhh!

Random complaint~ my ex-boyfriend, who I dated long-distance for over 3 years, keeps calling me! He is in another state, we broke up on fairly good terms (he had no intentions of getting married and neither of us had any intentions of moving closer unless something like that should happen, even though we had been together for so long and everything was great between us) and he keeps calling and IM'ing me! As much as I miss him and would give for everything to be back to norm between us, I don't think its going to happen. I told him to please stop calling me, that he made this decision, so deal with it. Of course this is not the first time this has happened between us, but it is getting old! When you reach 27, its time to grow up, right? What in the world can I do! Boys are not my friends right now!

Happy Friday!

PlymouthDZ 06-18-2004 12:22 PM

AWJ- boys/guys/men suck :p period.

i have no desire to do anything today. this should be fun.

dzandiloo 06-18-2004 05:29 PM

AWJDZ-
You need a
Boys are Stupid shirt. Hee.

Ya'll have a great weekend!
-ANdi

AWJDZ 06-19-2004 10:22 AM

:p too too funny! Might have to invest in one of those shirts!

Its offically Sat....I wish the sun would come out so I could lay out in the pool!

DeltaZeeSC 06-19-2004 03:25 PM

I just got back from the pool :D It's the first time all summer that I've had time to go when it was sunny. Oh and yes, here in South Carolina the heat and humitiy are killing us! I hate it when you break a sweat from just stepping outside....

AWJDZ 06-19-2004 07:48 PM

lounged around in the pool for a little bit today...went to a pig picken' with my parents...It was a little on the hot side.

What part of SC are you from? My "ex" is living in Pawley's Island...otherwise know as paradise

PlymouthDZ 06-20-2004 11:13 AM

Oh man, what a night. Last night was the final graduation party for my sisters.. we all camped out after.

It was quite interesting to pack 9 of us in a 5 person tent :p

Pixell- My summer is going good. I have a midterm tomorrow though...GRRRRRRR

AWJDZ 06-20-2004 04:59 PM

Hope everyone had a relaxing weekend!

Back to work tomorrow...nothing exciting!

Today, I guy who I had dinner once or twice with called me...the catch is he is in Europe! One of my student's family set me up with him, he had just moved to Wilson from Florance, SC...super nice guy. We went to dinner a few times and then he broke it to me, his company was sending him to Europe to work for a year. He has been over there for 5 or 6 weeks now and we email each other. He has called 3 times and EVERYTIME HE CALLS I NEVER HAVE MY PHONE WITH ME! :( I think it great he even remembers my number! Maybe one day I will get to talk to him!

PlymouthDZ 06-22-2004 07:27 PM

Oh man.. 20 4.5-6 years old.. WOW. I am SO tired.. and its only Tuesday.

Oh man.. its going to be a LONG weekend.

Andi- how did San Angelo go?

I hope you ladies are having a good week so far!! :)

AWJDZ 06-23-2004 10:44 AM

not much going on here....trying to finalize July 4th plans. What are everyone else's plans for that weekend?

I don't wannaaaaaa go to work this afternoon! :(

dzandiloo 06-23-2004 01:34 PM

San Angelo went well-they are great girls. Only half of their members were there, but they seem to know their stuff. They are battling a campus culture that is severely anti-Greek...unlike any I've seen in Texas, to be honest. But their love for DZ is evident & I think it will show during rush. Early buzz is that Recruitment numbers are going to be up this year...we bounced around some ideas to try to get them up some more...I took them some of the COB ideas from other GC threads that I hope they will use - if for nothing else than to beef up publicity. I'm going back July 17 for their second workshop, and everyone should be there.

Plans for the weekend:
Son's birthday party is Saturday afternoon (he's 9!!!) so that will keep us running. Plus, the kids & DH are leaving for a week long camping trip in Durango on Monday, so there will be lots of last-second preparations there (I'll meet them July 4th weekend in Ruidoso, NM for a weekend of camping & 4th of July festivites w/the Mescalero Apache Tribal Celebration).

Rooting for the Longhorns today in the College World Series, but I'm bummed that I'm at work & can't watch.

PlymouthDZ 06-23-2004 07:41 PM

Andi- wanna come do Rush with my chapter? ;) NH is BEAUTIFUL in the fall.. I promise! :) Happy birthday to your son!!! :)

My 4th plans- my lil is coming over and we're going to some fireworks and a BBQ.. nothing too exciting.

Today was a rough day for my campers.. not so much fun :(

Tomorrow night I'm going to see the Moody Blues with my mom, should be a good time!! :)

dzandiloo 06-23-2004 08:30 PM

I'd love to! Wish I could swing it. When I traveled, I got to experience Rush at some pretty different schools, but I wouldn't say any of them had scenery like ya'll probably have.

I got 7th row tickets to see Clay Aiken in September. WOOHOO!!!

Come down to Lubbock & you can go with me! LOL

I'm having trouble convincing DH to go with me, and SIL may not be able to go after all....I don' t care, I'll go alone!!! Trying to score some VIP passes from the owner of the venue...we shall see! I'm too old to be a groupie, but I haven't liked a singer like this since I was 14!.

This sucks doubly because the boy is leaving to be with his family for a month this weekend.

I'm going to be so lonely when he's gone :(

Sorry you're sick...being sick during the summer always stinks....

And as for being lonely, you're more than welcome to come hang out with me and the roommate, sometime between summer school and working! I got a new job too....I'm going to be an afterschool camp counselor at YMCA Camp Thunderbird! I get to work with the pre-K and K children. I'm so excited!! :D

That's from my rosebuddy's wedding.. I'm SO sorry it's so huge.. I couldn't figure out how to make it smaller!! :) Those are all of my sisters who were at the wedding :)

dzandiloo 06-29-2004 03:37 PM

OK. Besides the fact that I am probably the only person here who has to wear pantyhose during the summer (only when I have a hearing, as I did this a.m.), I just need to rant. WHY CAN I NOT FIND A PAIR OF SHEER HOSE THAT HAVE A REINFORCED TOE??? I do not have talons, but still, every time, I put a freaking hole in the toe in the first wearing. Dangit. These suckers are expensive!!!

OK. I'm all better.
