Last Comic Standing 2

Anyone watching the new season?
I really like most of the people they chose.

BGKdLady 06-10-2004 03:05 PM

I'm watching - I didn't watch last time. Some of them had me rolling!!! Some I think they picked just to add drama to the house.

ADPiAkron 06-10-2004 03:26 PM

I did not watch last time either-- but I am watching this time! I was sooooooooooo bummed when Wiggins did not make it to Vegas!! Since Wiggins is gone I am rooting for Dan Ahdoot and his med school and comic calendars!! hahahaha Between the calendars last night and the reservation making joke the night before--he had me in stitches!!

dzandiloo 06-10-2004 03:43 PM

I'm watching, and although my favorite made it . It sucks that Robert Varghese didn't make it (the Indian guy from Dallas). He reminded me of Dat Phan. That big woman w/the messed up facial expressions, Ant, and the caveman lookin' guy should not have made it to Vegas.

It was cool to see Rich Vos-he didn't look very entertained most of the time, though.

My favorites made it through, though. It should be between Gary Gulman *the hot "big Jewish" guy--his words), and the black guy w/the yellow & black shirt (can't remember his name, but he shot back at Colin re. the black comics v. white comics thing), and I really liked Dan Ahdoot as well.

We read the disclaimers at the end though--NBC had a say in who made it through-so being funny wasn't the only criteria. Gotta make sure there's some tension in the house, ya know!

His joke about the boogie man and his dad was hilarious! The only problem was that he told it both nights!

I didn't like the caveman or cavewoman looking comics but I thought Ant should have made it. The others that I liked but didn't make the cut were the Russian kid and the old guy biker with the really deep voice.

LeslieAGD 06-10-2004 05:20 PM

The only ones I hated that made it were Jay London (evolutionary chart guy) and Jessica Kirson (funny faces lady). I don't think there is anything remotely funny about either one.

Take 'em or leave 'em:
Bonnie McFarland
Sue Costello
Dan Naturman

Favorites So Far:
Kathleen Madigan (she hasn't done her best material yet)
Gary Gulman
Dan Ahdoot
John Heffron
DC Benny

chideltjen 06-10-2004 05:31 PM

I only watched about a half hour of it. I think I caught it before they announced the top 10.

I saw the old biker guy, the chick who's dad was in the hospital (who I thought was kinda funny...), the guy that had throat cancer (who i didn't think was very funny), the Clay Aiken wannabe (unfortunately that was his only good joke), the drag queen wedding lady (awful) and like, two others. I think I turned it off after the biker/hippie guy.

It should be an interesting season. I didn't watch last season but I might this season.

lindsay_iu 06-10-2004 10:32 PM

I like Jim Norton, just from the stuff that he's said on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. I also like Dan A. The calendar thing is really funny. Sounds like something my dad might do.

Did any of you see the conversation drag queen wedding lady had with the Clay Aiken look-alike? She was being all serious about her act flopping and he just said, after much consideration and thought, "Do you want to make out?" That had me rolling. My roommate said that it sounded like something I would say.

That was cute! I've seen DGL before, and she does that bit about weddings all the time!

LeslieAGD 06-16-2004 04:10 PM

I was pretty happy with the first five people that were picked last night. I think there is more competition in the second group (tonight's show).

Without even seeing them perform tonight, my predicitons are Todd Glass (to create havoc in the house), Tammy Pescatelli (to cause fights with Corey Holcomb), John Heffron, Marina Franklin, and DC Benny.
*Maybe Alonzo Bodden instead of John or DC, but I hope not.

polarpi 06-17-2004 01:05 AM

I was pretty mad that Dan N didn't make it tonight, because I thought his set was the best out of all ten that performed tonight.

The ones I like:
Corey Holcomb
Tammy Pescarelli
Kathleen Madigan
Gary Gulman
Ant

Can't stand:
Bonnie MacFarlane (I think her set last night was awful and she shouldn't have been chosen  )
Jay London (caveman guy)

Can take them or leave them:
Todd Glass
Alonzo Bodden

**Can't remember who the 10th comic heading to Hollywood is....so they must not have made *that* great of an impression :p

xo_kathy 06-17-2004 08:54 AM

I know (sort of) John Heffron - one of the guys who made it into the house.

He lived in my neighborhood growing up. Some of my friends were friends with his little sister, so we would hang out there sometimes. He also performed at my Senior All Night Party (hey, he was just starting out then!). And when I was in college he used to perform at local comedy clubs and we'd go see him. Very funny guy!

I hope he does well, but he doesn't strike me as the type to bring much drama.

LeslieAGD 06-17-2004 10:09 AM

DC Benny's set was not funny at all last night, so I'm not at all suprised that they chose Alonzo Bodden. I was, however, shocked that they chose Jay London. Did anyone else notice, though, that Jay Mohr mentioned knowing and admiring London? I feel like the people involved with the show are just picking people they know this year.

I saw it last night. To me , the judges should be the one who votes. Nobody else.

on a brighter note : Tammy Pecarelli from Cleveland made it. nice.

I can understand why they have other people voting, people who have seen the comics from the auditions to the finals, I just think they let a few really good people go in the process.

I agree, but at the same time, I would like to see the *celebrity talent scouts* have a little more say in who goes....especially if 3/4 of them voted for one person, and that person didn't get into the house. I mean, come on, they would be the ones who would know comedy best, right?

First Elimination Episode

Lo and behold, an alliance has already been formed. I wasn't suprised to see Bonnie nominated first, but I was surprised that she challenged John. He has a great set and won with 94% of the vote! I know he was sad that it had to be at Bonnie's expense, but it had to feel good to know that the audience had such a good reaction to his comedy.

I really like how they set up this year's comedy challenge in a much larger location with a bigger audience. Also, I kinda liked that the other comics weren't there...that had to be tough to perform in front of other people who want you to fail.

I caught the last 30 minutes of the show. John did good.

ADPiAkron 06-23-2004 12:17 PM

I thought last nights show was pretty good. The laundromat part was a waste--no one was funny!! I was kind of hoping they would get rid of Todd---he is soooo annoying! I am so glad Bonnie is gone she was a bitch and to dramatic! I do not know who I want to see go next--probably Todd, but if not Ant or Tammy!!

I have to say I did not watch this show last year and now I wish I would have!!

Shame on you , Neighbor! :p ;) last year's show was good but I got a feeling this season LCS II might be better.

ADPiAkron 06-23-2004 12:28 PM

Well at least we have Cleveland lovin' on the show! Even though I do not like her! :D

I'm hoping Tammy can last as long as she can, but I also know no Comedian is safe on LCS.

Sister, you're not the only one! :D

Unfortunately, my brain is so taxed from Vacation Bible School this week that I forgot that last night was LCS II  and missed most of the show....I really only saw the part where Ant told Tammy that Bonnie was going to nominate her, and then Tammy going off about Bonnie in the room.

I need them to do replays on other nights so I don't miss stuff! :o

I think Comedy Central has repeats of LCS as well as NBC.

Oh goody! Unfortunately, I'm gonna be housesitting for someone who doesn't have cable for the next month, so I'm gonna actually be taping all the shows I watch and then taking the tapes out to where I'm staying to watch and then bring back a day later to put the tape *back* in! It's going to be one hectic month! :p

and I'm hoping you'll wear a Detroit Pistons World Champion T-Shirt when you do that, right? ;) :D

Champs' Sports usually have some for a fairly reasonable price. If there is one near you, check it out.

Closest one to me is about 18 miles away, so it's a distinct possibility (otherwise, there's always good ole K-Mart :D ;) )

LeslieAGD 06-24-2004 03:04 PM

Who do you all think will go next week?

ADPiAkron 06-24-2004 03:20 PM

Hmmmm....maybe Todd?!?!

I dunno, Todd has a pretty strong stand-up.
I think he can beat a lot of the people in the house.
He may be nominated though.

ADPiAkron 06-24-2004 04:03 PM

I think he can beat alot of people too! But he may be nominated for being so annoying! I bet if he did get nominated he would pick Tammy or Ant--that's if they vote for him!

I know John was bummed that his friend had to go-but I think it worked to his advantage--the other comics who were giving him hell to pick sides now know how tough he is going to be to beat...94%? He's one of my favorites so far... I did not like Bonnie (her comedy or her person) so I was not sad to see her go. Ant should go next, IMO. His set is so limited...and he just gets on my nerves in general. Then I want Todd gone. Ugh, he is not funny.at.all.

All I could think about when they were checking out the house was last year, when everyone goofed on Dat by saying Ralphie was going to play hide & seek, and he sat in that hot theater for an hour before realizing they were not coming. Oh well, the joke was on them in the end!

That was sooooooooooo funny! hehe :)

***

Personally, I think Ant, Tammy, Corey, and Jay London are the weakest comics in the house (limited material) and Kathleen, John, and Alonzo Bodden are the strongest (wide variety of material).

ADPiAkron 06-30-2004 01:53 PM

Well as we now know Tammy is not as weak as we thought! ;) I thought last night was a good pick with Tammy, but I would have rather seen her up against Jay or Corey! I love this show!

dzandiloo 06-30-2004 03:32 PM

TODD'S GONE! TODD'S GONE! TODD'S GONE!!!

But the audience wasn't totally feeling Tammy. I think she should be feeling very lucky, and very nervous right now....

Pleaseohpleaseohplease let Ant, and Jay be the next ones in line.
