Middle Names

I know there's already a thread about where/how you got your name to begin with, but I've always been interested in middle names period, not particularly where they came from :D So what's your middle name?? Does it fit with your first/last names? Do you like it??

Mine is LaBelle... Don't like it.

Full name is Amy LaBelle Barton\\ yuck

Kevin 10-18-2002 08:37 PM

Smith.. My Paternal Great-Grandmother's last name...

Blaire 10-18-2002 08:44 PM

Full name.... Ashley Blaire Hodge. I love my middle name, which is why I go by it...its more interesting. However, I'm a little concerned that Blaire won't sound good with any other last name. :( I dunno, I guess I like my name the way it is!

my middle name is Paul.
so my official name is Joshua Paul San Julian.
My dad's name is paul, and my parents wanted me to have his name, but they did not want me to be Paul Jr.
i think that my full name kinda rolls off the toung.

Unregistered- 10-18-2002 09:54 PM

You think you guys got it bad, try having six.

Sandy Grace Rosa Maria Kalikolehua Sachie Gamatero [last name].

Grace=name of my eldest half sister who passed away before I was born

Rosa and Maria=names of my grandmothers

Kalikolehua="the young lehua flower blossom", island flower of the Big Island--my paternal family's ancestral home [for a picture, go HERE

Sachie=my Japanese name...means "happy girl"

Gamatero=my mom's family name, from the Philippines.

Peaches-n-Cream 10-18-2002 10:12 PM

My middle name is Anne. My sister's is Marie. They are the two most popular middle names in the country because they go with almost every first name. I like it. :D

DeltAlum 10-18-2002 10:38 PM

Middle name is Blaine. Guess my mom and dad just liked it. I hated it when I was young, but I don't mind it now.

AOIIBrandi 10-18-2002 10:39 PM

My middle name is Jacquelynn. I like it, but it took me years as a child to learn how to spell :D

Blaire 10-18-2002 11:14 PM

DeltAlum,
I'm very partial to the name Blaine. :D :D :D :D

My middle name is very common...Marie.

That makes my name Vera Marie Bialowas (Hartling).

Vera=my dad's mom's name

Marie=my mom's mom's middle name

Bialowas=my husband's last name

Hartling=my maiden name

My parents had this thing...they named both my bro and I after their parents. Our first names are after my dad's parents (who passed on before my parents got married) and our middle names are my mom's parent's middle names!:)

I plan to do something similar with my first daughter. Art's mom has passed on (before we met) and I want to name my first daughter after his mom.

So, our first daughter's name will (hopefully!) be:

Danuta Anne Bialowas

Danuta is Art's mom's name (he's Polish....Danuta is the polish version of Donna...but I like Danuta much more!)
Anne is for Anne of Green Gables...my fave book and movie EVER!!!!

mmmmmmmmmm. Gilbert Blythe :).

My middle name is Rebecca. I actually really like it. Mainly because I don't hate it. All my friends hate their middle names. Mine is decent. I'll keep it :). I got the name from my father's grandmother. But it's actually derived from the hebrew name I got when I was named after her (Rivkah), and so my hebrew middle name is Rivkah, and my parents anglasized it for my english middle name, Rebecca.

three2tango 10-19-2002 01:17 AM

My middle name is Belle. I like it.

bluz4 10-19-2002 01:19 AM

mine is noelle-claire

enjoli noelle-claire francis

i was supposed to be born on christmas so i think my parents got noelle from that. like so many of you, i like my middle name. i hated my name when i was younger; i wanted to be named dominique or jaclyn or something easily pronounced. but now i love my entire name.

KappaKittyCat 10-19-2002 03:05 AM

First name: Andrea (Greek, meaning feminine)

Middle name: Rochelle (French, meaning little rock)

Some sense of humour my parents had.

My first name is for a family friend. My middle name is the middle name of my mother's aunt who died before I was born. Her first name is Hazel-- glad I didn't get stuck with that. Rochelle's not so bad; at least it's unique. But nobody can spell it and everybody always asks whether my family's Heugenot.

If I were a boy, my name would be Andrew James, and I'd be called "Drew." My brother's name is Arthur James, for my dad's father. He goes by AJ. If my first name were Arthur, I would go by AJ, too.

SilverTurtle 10-19-2002 01:10 PM

My middle name is Lenore, and I love it. It's also my mom & grandma's middle name and we're the only people I know with it! :) My grandma uses it for her first name. My mom's maiden name was Linda Lenore Carey & I'm Carrie Lenore [last name] which is cool.

My sister's middle name is Burdette, after my mom's fave grandma. When she (grandma) found out, she cried and said something about how she couldn't believe anyone would name their daughter after her 'cause she had a such an ugly name! lol

I don't know how my sister feels about it though?

LeslieAGD 10-19-2002 01:55 PM

My middle name is Michelle. My godmother gave it to me.

MoonStar17 10-19-2002 03:20 PM

My middle name is so different..

Mimi- and NO not from the drew carey show!!!

my mom said there was this song called Mimi's song. and she liked it so hence i became Elisa Mimi

not many people have the name mimi

this one time at a store the cashier guy asked for my ID and when he saw Mimi as my middle name he started laughing...Mimi??? that was the first time anyones ever laughed at my middle name without even knowing me..whatever!!!

:D

OUlioness01 10-19-2002 06:31 PM

Kathleen which makes my full name Megan Kathleen Doyle.
Megan because of the Thornbirds, Kathleen from one of my mom's sisters and my dad's only sister, and doyle is my last name. i would have been Brian Patrick if I had ben a boy.....instead it's my little brother's name...

Hootie 10-19-2002 07:01 PM

I was just having this discussion with a coworker today. She's a minister's wife and named all four of their children after names in the bible...Aaron, Hannah, Sarah, Jonah

Anyways~
My full name is Amy Michelle. I love my middle name because my first name is so short that it needs a fuller name to make it run smoothly! When I was a little girl I couldn't say my name...I always said my name was Amy Myshelf :D

xok85xo 10-19-2002 07:49 PM

my middle name is alanna, thus making my full name kathryn alanna (last name)..when i was little i didn't really like it..but now that i'm older i think its really pretty..loosely translated it means "pure harmony" or "pure, serene"

winnieb 10-19-2002 08:48 PM

My middle name is Michelle--thus my full name being Wendi Michelle (last name)

Both of my sons have two middle names---
Zachary Jordan Alexander (last name)
Jacob Michael Gunn (last name)

Zach got his name because we were going to name him Jordan Alexander--then we decided to name him Zachary (the name I was usppose to have, if I was a boy) Jordan--but we still liked the Alexander--so we put them all together.

With JakeWe deicded to give him my husband's middle name (michael) and also decided that he must have a total of 4 names, just like our first born. We decided to use Gunn, which is a family middle name, on my husband's side--although his mom did not like the name and would not pass it on to my husband---so we decided to pick it back up. I honestly like the name---not many people have the name Gunn---although many people question it--we have to tell them there are 2 n's--it's not GUN.

DeltaSigStan 10-19-2002 08:50 PM

My given name: Tristan Montemayor Mangindin. Montemayor is my mom's maiden name.

But in a few years (when I have the $$$) I'm going to legally change my name to Stan Montemayor Manning. Tristan is just very feminine and Mangindin is too hard to pronounce for most people.

Blaire 10-19-2002 09:56 PM

I really like the name Tristin for a guy...I think it is very unique and not a lot of people are named that....at least no one would forget you!

Fewdfreak 10-19-2002 10:10 PM

My middle name is Alissa, after my grandma, Alice. So Lauren Alissa...

DeltSig... I know like 3 guys named Tristan, it's 'normal' to me. Where did the Stan come from, a nick name?

queequek 10-19-2002 10:13 PM

My middle name is Laurensius. It came from St. Laurent (suppose to be my patron saint), and Laurensius is in Latin. :)

DeltaSigStan 10-19-2002 10:16 PM

Drop the Tri in my name, you get Stan

KillarneyRose 10-19-2002 11:08 PM

DeltaSigStan, did you ever read the play "Tristan and Isolde"? Tristan was a complete studly warrior who would doubtless have kicked the a$$ of anyone who said he had a feminine name! :D

Okay, my full name is:

Tracy (Mom's maiden name)
Ann (Maternal grandmother's name)
Gabriella (Paternal grandmother's name)
Last name (got it from hubby; major boost in the alphabetical order of things! lol)

I always wanted a name with a definitive nickname that came with it so my daughters are

Kathryn Ann (Katie)
Caroline Robin (CeCe)

KarenC725 10-19-2002 11:09 PM

Middle name: Elaine. It's a family name I share with my mother as well.

That makes me Karen Elaine

AOIIalum 10-20-2002 10:25 AM

My middle name is Ann, which is my mom's first name. Makes me Christin Ann, which works.

My sons are: Ryan Michael (first name of a dear friend and middle worked well with it!)

Nicholas Martin (first name picked by my beloved niece, middle is DH's first name)

Kyle Alexander (first name because #1 I love it and #2 it's my favorite Kentucky player of all time. The middle name fit well with 'Kyle' so that's it! Seriously!)

Christin

mmcline 10-20-2002 10:55 AM

My middle name is Garrett. Its my grandmother's maiden name. I like it, but i think its more of a guys name than a girls name.

CarolinaCutie 10-20-2002 12:17 PM

My middle name is Anne... but a lot of people think I have no middle name because I go by Leigh Anne. Yes, I'm from the South but my parents are from Indiana... don't know why they went for the "two names as one ". Guess it could be worse, I could be Becky Sue or Sally Rose lol.

My mother was the cheerleading coach for my town's high school when she was pregnant. She says that I was named for one of her cheerleaders that my dad thought was just adorable. He says that is not true :p

I don't really like my name; it's incredibly plain. I have a one syllable last name too. BORING, although I can't imagine going by anything else.

I wish I had good surnames in my family to use as middle names for my children. One of my friends has his mother's maiden name as his middle name, and it is so sexy-sounding. But unfortunately I have nothing. Maybe my future husband will have some ;)

justhey76 10-20-2002 03:45 PM

My middle name is Leigh, making me Brittany Leigh. I got my middle name frommy father's first name, yeah, it is a girls name, but he got his first name from my great grandmother's first name. Kinda cool.

bcdphie 10-20-2002 04:09 PM

My middle name is Anne Louise (my great grandmother's 1st name).

So my name in full is...

Siobhan Anne Louise Poole

Grey. I am the III making me Milton Grey Farmer,III. I want to legally have it changed to William. Should I change Grey or keep it or drop it or what?

CarolinaCutie 10-21-2002 12:27 AM

NO! Maybe I am assuming, but I think if your family went to the trouble of making you a III, it's pretty important to them. Family tradition is good. Now that doesn't mean you should make a Milty IV... but going by Grey is not bad at all.

Grey is a nice name, IMO.

aephi alum 10-21-2002 09:10 AM

My original middle name is Colleen - named for my mother.

When I got married, I couldn't decide whether to drop my maiden name or drop my middle name and keep my maiden name as my new middle name (my maiden name dies with me) - so I kept both, and use two middle initials. When I'm forced to use one or the other (like on my driver's license) I use the C.

Leigh Anne, don't complain about having a short and sweet last name. My husband's last name has more letters than most cans of alphabet soup!

MoxieGrrl 10-21-2002 10:28 AM

My middle name is Nicole. No story. Just Nicole. So my name is Kristi Nicole (last name).....when I'm married my last name will be Carter. I *love* it :)

Aiiii! Me too -- I mean, my middle name is Noelle because I was supposed to be born on Christmas. Instead, I was a few days early. I used to hate it when kids would sing "The First Noelle" to me in school, but now I think it's pretty cool.

xo_kathy 10-21-2002 12:39 PM

I was named after my grandmothers' middle names
Kathaleen Marie

If I had been named after their first names, I could have been Florence Eleanor!!! Glad my parents went the middle name route!

My first name has an extra 'a' in the middle, we think because when my grandmother was born, her parents had such a southern accent that the nurse heard Kath-A-leen, even though they meant "Kathleen". I think that's sorta cute. And I let people call me by my full first name, but ONLY if they pronounce the A, otherwise they can only call me Kathy...Yea, I'm high maintenance when it comes to my name...
