2004 NCAA Baseball

NCAA Super Regionals this weekend:

Vandy @ Texas
FSU @ Arkansas
Arizona @ LBSU
Georgia @ Georgia Tech

play Friday, Saturday, Sunday. With best 2-of-3 winners advancing to College World Series to begin play on 6/18.

East Carolina @ South Carolina
Tulane @ Cal St. Fullerton
Texas A&M @ LSU
Florida @ Miami

play Saturday, Sunday, Monday. With best 2-of-3 winners advancing to College World Series to begin play on 6/19.

Some damn good baseball there. Will be televised on ESPN and ESPN2 starting Friday. This past weekend was the best baseball I've seen in awhile at any level, hope the same holds true the rest of the way.

wreckingcrew 06-07-2004 04:46 PM

i was wondering if anyone else was going to start a thread like this.

All i gotta say is that Holy Crap, we beat Rice!!

With a grand slam, in the bottom of the 8th, no doubt.

Our series with LSU should be a good one, although i haven't been following as much this year, so i don't know much about the Bayou Bengals.

Man, if we get to Omaha, you bet your ASS i'm taking days off of work study to go see my Ags play!!

UCLA just blew Oklahoma out 17-7.

No longer interested.

sigtau305 06-07-2004 04:53 PM

Kent State beat Notre Dame. I'm hoping Kent can go all the way.

PiEp299 06-07-2004 04:56 PM

LSU is still very good. Their hitting isn't as great as in years past, but they can still put up runs. The only series they lost at home this year was to Arkansas I do believe and that was in a sweep.

After the ninth inning game winning grand slam against Wichita St. sunday in game 1 and the 4-3 win in game 2 sunday the Razorbacks have about spent me in excitement. Hope for more this weekend.

They'd be a lock if they were still playing.

PiEp299 06-11-2004 02:35 PM

Georgia....005002000...7 12 0

wreckingcrew 06-11-2004 08:00 PM

t.u. jumped all over Vandy with 5 runs in the top of the first. Disch-Falk is JUMPING

Man, i hope A&M can win a game against LSU, i really think we pulled one out of the fire against Rice.

Maybe our lucky streak will continue and we can banish the ghosts of 89.

maybe so...Beating LSU will take A&M's best effort though.

DZHBrown 06-14-2004 01:19 AM

I was bummed out over Vandy's loss. It was expected, though!

AZ-AlphaXi 06-14-2004 09:56 AM

LSU lost to Miami 9-5 and So. Carolina 15-4.

Arizona plays Georgia today @ 1 cst.
Miami plays So. Carolina today @ 6 cst.
Both are elimination games in the losers bracket.

Texas and Cal St. Fullerton are still undefeated at 2-0 and will play the winners of the elimination games.

UT v. (AZ or UGA)
CSF v. (Miami or USC)

KSigkid 06-22-2004 02:47 PM

LSU out in two...not like the bashing LSU teams of years past.

It's funny...I hate Miami for every sport except baseball, although I don't have a real favorite. There were years when guys I played with and against were playing in the Series, and then I'd root for and against them accordingly (there was a guy who pitched for Stanford a couple years ago who I couldn't stand; I rooted against Stanford those years).

PiEp299 06-22-2004 08:42 PM

Don't look now, but Miami is going down in flames.
It's So. Carolina 12...Miami 0 in the 5th.

Also, Arizona was eliminated today by Georgia 3-1.

The1calledTKE 06-22-2004 08:46 PM

Go Dawgs! Beat the horns this time around.

SigmaPi@UofA 06-22-2004 09:04 PM

yea im sad AZ lost.. we had a good run tho... and both games against Ga were strong.. Texas is gonna be hard to beat...

Congrats on the good games though. Your boys played damn hard(as my Razorbacks found out). Very good team.

PiEp299 06-22-2004 11:08 PM

Miami was eliminated 15-11 by So. Carolina.
Arizona eliminated 3-1 by Georgia.

Georgia plays Texas tomorrow at 1 cst. and again Thursday if necessary.
So. Carolina plays Cal St. Fullerton tomorrow at 6 cst. and again Thursday if necessary.

Georgia and So. Carolina must win twice to advance to the championship series.
Texas and CSF only have to win once to advance.

Go Dawgs, Go Cocks, Go SEC!!!

tinydancer 06-22-2004 11:15 PM

HOOK EM HORNS!! This is likely to be a tough game, though. Looking forward to it!

PiEp299 06-23-2004 04:58 PM

Texas won today 7-6. Georgia is eliminated.

dzandiloo 06-23-2004 05:22 PM

HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!!!!!!!!

phigamucsb 06-23-2004 06:13 PM

Go CS Fullerton, Go Big West (one of the best baseball conferences in America). I think my school UCSB swept CS Fullerton and I know that we swept Long Beach St (we shelled Jered Weaver). Anyways CSU Fullerton is definetly representing the West Coast.

PiEp299 06-23-2004 07:18 PM

CSF and So Carolina playing now 5-3 USC in the 7th.

So far the predictions before the CWS started have held true.
They had Texas v. So. Carolina for the championship. It's half true with Texas making it in earlier. We'll see about the other half.

PiEp299 06-25-2004 02:32 PM

okay,
Texas v. Cal St. Fullerton for the title starting Saturday @ 6 cst.
It's a best 2 out of 3 series.

PiEp299 06-28-2004 10:06 AM

Cal St. Fullerton won the CWS over the weekend. They beat Texas in 2 straight. 6-4 and 3-2. I'm just glad Texas didn't win.

Hells yes!

Kurt "The Clutch" Suzuki is a native Mauian who is best friends with the boy. A bunch of us Hawaii people went to the sports bar last night to watch the game and was ecstatic to see him score the game winning RBI.

Needless to say, he'll have a hero's homecoming when he goes back to Maui this summer!

He's a damn good ball player.

Also, Texass did show it's classless ways by not coming out of the locker room to accept their second place trophy. Ridiculous. You win with class, you lose with class. Bunch of damn punks.
