Bands that should say "Buh-bye"

The Creed thread has inspired me to ask, "What other bands/solo artists would you LOVE to see break up/stop performing?"

Jessica Simpson
Britney Spears
The BlackEyed Peas

WCUgirl 06-05-2004 05:40 PM

John Mayer. Ugh! Can't stand his whiny voice.

GMUBunny 06-05-2004 07:05 PM

I think there was a thread about this in chit chat a loooong time ago, but I'm too lazy to look for it.

Britney never should have been...
Good Charlotte
Dave Matthews as a solo artist and his band (sorry, but I CANNOT stand that music...ugh. gives me the same icky feeling as Creed)
Avril Lavigne (another who never should have been)

I'm hoping Fantasia Barrino's album sinks like the Titanic...

SSS1365 06-05-2004 10:28 PM

I agree with everything said so far... except Switchfoot, I would like to give them a chance. I don't like that "we were meant to live for so much more" song (don't know the title), but I do like "I Dare You to Move." So I would have to see how their other songs are before I could really pass judgment.

hottytoddy 06-05-2004 10:30 PM

I will agree with Creed and Good Charlotte.

I love DMB and John Mayer though. Different strokes for different folks.

ASUADPi 06-05-2004 11:23 PM

I definately have to agree with Britney and Jessica. I would also add Christina to the list.

I would take Switchfoot off the list though. I love the song Dare You to Move. I liked it before it even got radio air play because Switchfoot did some songs for the movie "A Walk to Remember". I have the soundtrack. So in my mind they were awesome before the rest of the country joined the band wagon.

Backstreet Boys and N'Sync (yes, even though these two boy bands haven't released albums lately, I believe they are all still "technically together")

J.Lo. (I honestly don't think she's that great of a singer)

kandy36 06-05-2004 11:34 PM

seriously i dont know how the hell some people got record deals like:
hillary duff
jessica simpson
ashlee simpson
britney spears
jc chasez

..i think im just anti pop lol

oh that guy amon, the one that wines about how his girlfriend cheated on him..
umm..twista, he annoys me

..i just have issues with that last one but we wont get into it unless u guys are ready for it lol:cool:

Dionysus 06-05-2004 11:41 PM

Twister (leave the fast lyrics to Busta Rhymes)
Hillary Duff
Avril
Jay-Z (his earlier stuff ROCKED though)
Usher (ducks from flying dishes)
Kid Rock

valkyrie 06-05-2004 11:43 PM

Any band that has been around forever and is made up of guys that are like 70 years old now. Go away.

I'd also like to beat up Ashanti. Oh baby baby baby baby baby baby, you have no talent and Ja Rule doesn't either.

DeltaSigStan 06-06-2004 12:57 AM

JA RULE IS A LITTLE BOOGER, MURDA INC AND IRV GOTTI SUCKS AS A LABEL, COMPANY AND CREW
Lil Jon
Good Charlotte
KISS ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY SUCKS

DeltaSigStan 06-06-2004 01:04 AM

Oh, and one more thing:

Kenny G is NOT Jazz!!!!

AOII*Azra-elle 06-06-2004 01:15 AM

*jumps up and down* Good Charlotte...Good Charlotte...Good Charlotte!!!!! oh yea and ICP too....let's take all their stuff and start a bon fire!

CatStarESP4 06-06-2004 02:20 AM

Backstreet Boys
N'SYNC
Britney Spears
Christina Aguilera (sp?)
Darkness (too weird)
Hilary Duff

smiley21 06-06-2004 08:02 AM

i have been listening to Switchfoot since i was 14. that is eight years. they are a Christian band that finally got mainstream airplay. i think that they are an awesome band. their first album from 1997 called, 'the legend of chin' is one of the greatest albums ever made.

who need to go:

good charlotte
new found glory
nickelback
j.lo
anyone from 'american idol' (past, present, future)
linkin park (they used to be cool. key word: used to)

WCUgirl 06-06-2004 09:00 AM

I kinda' wondered if Switchfoot was or had been a Christian group (like P.O.D.). That's interesting. I've only heard their one song, but I do like it.

Don't worry. You're not alone. I can't stand him either.

SSS1365 06-06-2004 10:04 AM

I'll probably get shot for this, but I would add Madonna to the list. She was good back in the day, but it's really time for her to act her age and stop putting out all these Britney-esque songs.

moe.ron 06-06-2004 11:10 AM

KISS

How many reunion tours can you have?

Xylochick216 06-06-2004 11:28 AM

Avril (she was good when I first heard her before she turned into an idiot)
Britney and Christina
Pink
New Metallica (old stuff was good. They should stop while they're ahead)
NFG
Jay-Z
Toby Keith

I'm still an *N SYNC fan. I'm hoping their new album is good because I'd like them to go out on a good note :) I know, I know, I'm the only person over the age of 20 who still likes them

ASUADPi 06-06-2004 12:27 PM

Totally agree with the new Metallica album. OMG, I bought St. Anger was so incredibly disappointed. I couldn't believe I wasted my money on it. All the songs were exactly the same. Maybe I was just expecting something similiar to their Black Album (which just rocks!!!!!), but it wasn't. It was a crap album. So I guess I'll just stick with the Black Album. :)

As for Avril, I actually like some of the songs from her second album better than her first one. I think she comes off as a airhead though because she is so young and was immediately thrust into such a "harsh" business. Oh but wait, Britney has been in the business for years and she still comes off as an airhead.

And does anyone else just want to slap Jessica Simpson? Seriously, she gives all blondes such a bad name. She is the biggest airhead.

my boyfriend thought the same thing. so did i

moe.ron 06-07-2004 04:11 AM

Agree with Metallica. The Black Album was their last great work. It all went down hill after that.

Unregistered- 06-07-2004 07:18 AM

Am I the only one that thinks Whitney Houston should check herself into rehab for 30 years and just drop off the face of the earth completely?

She'll still be able to saaaaaaaaang if she wants, but as long as she's married to Bobby, she'll always have that reputation of being the washed out cracked up, HAS BEEN.

sigtau305 06-07-2004 09:55 AM

Whitney Houston
N' sync
Backstreet Boys
Hilary Duff

totally agree. Madonna + techno = bleeecch.

Now that Creed is gone, the Creed-like bands whose names I've never bothered to learn need to go as well.

Oh, and don't say you're retiring when you're really not. This was bogus when Frank Sinatra did it and if the Chairman of the Board can't get away with something, you definitely can't. (Celine Dion, I'm looking at you)

No, Arya, the question is, how many "farewell" tours can you have??? ;)

My answer: Styx
My favorite band growing up. But I had a front-row seat for the big split among the lead singers and the guitar player is limping along as their "leader". It's sad to see this once-great band triple-billing it at county fairs with Nelson and whoever else is free for the summer.

Hang it up guys, you've had a great career but now it's just sad.

While "St. Anger" is not as great as their earlier albums, It was enjoyable. and to think, they ALMOST disbanded after Jason Newstead left and James Hetfield went to rehab.

You are so right. I lost count, is this their 4th "farewell" tours?

Good Charlotte

Eddie Vadder on Good Charlotte:

I personally think they sound like...well...they taste like...a popsicle that's been stuck up someone's ass. but thats just my opinion"

All those teen angst "punk" bands, whose fan base is 12 years old girls and their music on gets played in those crappy teen movies.

I especially love how those bands are most loved by the rich suburbanite 12 year olds that can not possibly imagine the meaning of the word angst. "OMG, I'm gonna, like, die. Mom will not, like, buy me a new Louis this month. Uhhhhhh..."

breathesgelatin 06-09-2004 12:47 AM

Creed
Blink 182
Three Doors Down
The Rolling Stones (it's over, and I don't want your $300 tickets)
Korn
Linkin Park
Slipknot
Wait...

Basically all NU Metal, excepting System of a Down and Tool.

erm...
pretty much anything on alternative radio today??? boo radio. :(

Someone mentioned Toby Keith... Is he the one who said that putting "a boot up your ***" was the "American way"?? If so A) I bet he's eating his words right now and B) I'm adding him to my list.

Unfortunately, most of the artists listed above were NEVER good (major exception: the Stones). So maybe I'm missing the point of the thread... oh well!

abaici 06-09-2004 02:33 AM

John Mayer~I love Your Body is a Wonderland!!
Dave Matthew's Band~Ok, they had me with Crash into Me (it just makes you want to get close to someone)

Ok, I hate the Black Eyed Peas! GO AWAY!! Also, I'm tired of seeing Usher slip and slide across my tv. GOOOOOOOO AWAY!!!

SigKapSmurf 06-09-2004 09:25 AM

Evenansance (sorry not sure how to spell it)
They were good but my roomie this year played their cd way too much and then ruined all the good songs for me when she started singing them all the time!! A little bitter about that can you tell?

ADPiSAI 06-09-2004 10:52 AM

Celine Dion.
and I'll agree about Whitney Houston... last time I saw her sing on something, she really wasn't all that great.

I totally remembering seeing that on MTV Icon. LOL. They were working on the Black Album (if I remember correctly) when James went into rehab.

I totally agree!!!!

Celine Dion is nothing to write home about anymore and Whitney, well she just needs to worry about getting her life on track and not trying to be this great singer that she was in the past, emphasis on "the past".

As much as I love Evanescence, I would probably feel the same way too!!!! Thank god I don't have a room mate to ruin them for me. LOL.
