How often do you go shopping and what was the last thing you bought?

I went to the mall last night. I spent a gift certificate from H&M I got for graduation. I got 2 tank tops and a black hand-bag there since my favorite black Guess hand bag has some kind of white mark on it.

I also bought 2 pairs of comfy capri athletic pants in Express (one in lime green, one in a hot-pink fuschia color) Ladies, the whole store is on sale right now, you can get lots of stuff starting at $10.00!!!

I also got two pairs of sandals and more lotion and body spray at Bath & Body Works. I go shopping at least once a week :D :D :D

swissmiss04 06-05-2004 10:31 AM

I admittedly don't go shopping as much as I'd like. I haven't done "serious" shopping since March, and even then only bought a few things, and they were from Old Navy and Target. Typically when I go shopping I go to Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy, Target, or Ann Taylor. I look forward to the day when I can go shopping now and then and not panic about being able to pay my bills.

Rio_Kohitsuji 06-05-2004 10:39 AM

Well, since my mother felt sorry for me this week for being poor, she gave me her credit card to go shopping. So....last time I went shopping was June 1st. Bought a super cute bikini w/a matching wrap and 3 pairs of really cute flip-flops.

I normally go shopping every 2 weeks, but it really depends on my cash flow at the time.

I love Old Navy and "Tar-zhay" LOL.

I always buy so many clothes and then don't have time to wear them all. That's my problem. Has anyone ever moved and said "I swear, I never need to buy clothes again" because most of the stuff you have to move is clothing. Then of course, we never follow that statement.

smiley21 06-05-2004 10:42 AM

i want to go shopping more, but i am in the midst of saving my cash. i am saving for a BIG shopping spree for fall semester.
the last thing that i bought was a Burberry purse and a kate spade wallet (i bought them at the same time).

Taualumna 06-05-2004 10:54 AM

I went shopping yesterday and bought two t-shirts and a pair of capris from the Gap.

KellyB369 06-05-2004 10:58 AM

I don't go shopping as much I would like either because I've got to be able to pay the bills.
I did go shopping while I was in Washington, DC last weekend and got a cute pair of heels from Steve Madden in Gtown.

Munchkin03 06-05-2004 11:20 AM

About 2 weeks ago, I went shopping while I was at home in FL. Brooks Brothers was having a sale, so I grabbed a pink polo dress, 2 3/4 length t-shirts, capris from the Gap, a few twinsets from Ann Taylor, a 3/4 length pink blouse and some pink sandals with kitten heels.

I will not buy any more clothes until I figure out what I'm going to do with the trunk full of clothes that I HATE. They're in excellent condition, but I don't know where to donate them. Any ideas?

Hey Munchkin. Try checking out some social service agencies in your area that have group homes and mental health residences. These clients are on very limited incomes and usually don't have much money to buy quality clothing items. In the residence I work in especially it is difficult for clients who are heavy. I have some family members who wear big size clothing and each season they clean out their closet and give the items to me to bring to work. If you did this you would know your stuff is actually going to people who need it and it won't be thrown out.

I live in NYC, but I'm not big. I can just call Catholic Charities or a church and they can take them?

Kevin 06-05-2004 11:49 AM

I went ot Best Buy yesterday -- received a $50 gift cert for my bday. My mistake was taking the GF with me. I couldn't find anything. We're getting a new apartment in August, so I figured I'd just wait and put the $ towards a toaster oven or something like that.

sigtau305 06-05-2004 11:51 AM

I went to FYI last Friday and brought a CD.

Hey, if anyone wears large size clothing they can be put to good use in many agencies. I work in an agency in NYC, Jamaica to be exact iin Queens. We certainly take donations if you would like to give them to us :)

ADPiShannan 06-05-2004 12:22 PM

Oh man. This is a bad habit to talk about, my husband hates how I shop, but honestly I go shopping everyday. If I dont go to the mall I am either at Walmart or Target or even the grocery store but everyday I am out shopping. Its a bad habit I know but I cant break of it.

I was out this morning at Walmart. I didnt get anything too exciting. We got a few DVDs, some cereal, a bunch of lawn stuff (I am redoing our landscaping outside), some moisturizer, and a few magazines. Nothing too special lol....

ADPiShannan 06-05-2004 12:25 PM

As far as clothing, I agree. We have 4 closets for me and I actually had to do spring cleaning and cleaned a bunch of stuff out and took to GoodWill. The hubby gets so mad cause a lot of stuff has price tags on it and has never been worn or only once. I have gotten so used to wearing everything once then wearing something else then getting something new. I get into trouble a lot lol... I have a clothing obsession.;)

winneythepooh7 06-05-2004 12:43 PM

I just ordered two t-shirts for my pug off-line:

Really great pink pj capri pants with a fun design on the left leg from Victoria's Secret. I love the length for this time of year. I throw open the window and turn on the ceiling fan and it's cool enough to wear pants and snuggle with my blanket.

I need to start going thru my closet and looking at the clothes I haven't worn this year, a sure sign they need to be donated!

cutiepatootie 06-05-2004 12:51 PM

get me near a ROSS, target, Wal mart, 99cent only store, the mall, lane bryant, macys, Barnes and noble and Victoria secert and i feel my check book and credit cards go into a spastic fit.

SHopping has been a bad habit of mine for a long time.

cutiepatootie 06-05-2004 12:51 PM

and oh yeah put Ebay in front of me scary what i will buy! :D

josh8o 06-05-2004 12:57 PM

i have new brown leather shoes from banana republic...

Peaches-n-Cream 06-05-2004 02:28 PM

I went to Costco and bought groceries.

I'm not sure about Catholic Charities, but I know that many churches have drop off centers. My family and I donate all of our clothes to the center near our church.

KillarneyRose 06-05-2004 04:09 PM

I guess I pretty much shop whenever I need something.

I bought a Lilly Pulitzer dress a few days ago because I'm going to a cousin's wedding in a few weeks and all my "good" summery dresses, um, well, they seem to have shrunk over the winter!

Yes, but you have an employee discount, right? If so, it would have been very, very wrong to NOT have bought those shoes. A big waste of a discount.

Wine&SilverBlue 06-05-2004 06:28 PM

Ebay

Oooooohhh ebay... while I may not go shopping that often, I browse ebay every day. ;)

sororitygirl2 06-05-2004 06:31 PM

How often? Daily.

Last thing I bought? New trail running shoes.

tnxbutterfly 06-05-2004 06:57 PM

I shop occasionally for things like clothes and books. I shop for food almost on a weekly bases (the power of a Wal-mart credit card)

I shop (aka look) for home furnishings on a weekly bases as well.

The last thing I brought was a book from Borders with a g/c I had gotten from work

New Balance is kind of over, babe.

I prefer Saucony.

aephi alum 06-05-2004 07:02 PM

I seldom go shopping (not counting groceries) ... but when I do, I can rack up quite a bill!

Last weekend I hit the outlet malls (Memorial Day sale ;) ) and got several new outfits and 2 pairs of shoes for work, a new comforter and pillow shams for the bed, some new makeup, a bar cart, some dishes, martini glasses, hmm what else...

I'm dreading my next credit card bill

What did I buy? - B&B WOrks Semi-Annual sale is going on now. I got Aromatherapy "jasmine vanilla". Its supposed to be for sensuality, but it also helps calm nerves and helps hormones somehow. Its perfect for stress.
I got the body wash and the sugar scrub!! :D

norcalchick 06-06-2004 02:11 AM

I can't tell if you're going for style or sport because I've never heard people say they're getting trail running shoes for style, but if they were it's probably be new balance. Saucony was only cool for like 5 minutes if we're going for the style factor then: http://www.adidas.com/Y-3/.

I spent WAY too much money at Ann Taylor Loft yesterday. My excuse was that I had a $75 gift certificate, I spent a lot more than that. Someone take my credit cards away from me.

On the upside I found the jean skirt + little white blouse outfit I've been looking for.

GeekyPenguin 06-06-2004 06:35 PM

I work at the mall, so I'm there 3-4 days a week, and I usually come home with something at least once a week.

I NEEDED those pink crocodile pumps, I really did.

I don't know what you are talking about - Saucony style is totally hot. They are some spicy, tasty shoes - and comfortable to boot!!

Good lord I did too much shopping today.

Went to Trader Jack's flea market with my mom this morning. Got this fantastic mirror for $4 that i'm going to refinish, and a couple jars for the kitchen.

Went to a couple stores and bought my dad some Father's Day gifts (a tie- lol, stereotypical I know, but he needed one, and some really comfy pajama pants b/c he's going to be getting surgery soon and will be in bed for a week)

Went to Bed Bath and Beyond.... bought a wedding gift, and for myself- bought a rack for over the toliet and a towel rack for the bathroom in my new apt when I move. Also got a bathmat and a garbage can.

REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted this Nicole Miller bedding set, but the comforter alone was $250 and I just can't swing that right now.

Instead, came home and bought a bedding set from Macy's online (great sale this weekend) for $90. Much more in my price range.

Still looking for a bed that I like... I want a metal bed, with silver or pewter finish. The designs I like all are black or have gold or bronze tones too. Blah.

lifesaver 06-06-2004 09:02 PM

I live on EBAY beacause I dotn ever have to go to a mall eer again and I can save $$$. DId I mention I hate malls?
