JFK-conspiracy or not?
In my "stay at home mom" boredom, I just watched Oliver Stone's "JFK". The movie got me thinking about the different takes on the killing, and I was wondering what y'all think?
Also, I'm looking for good references so I can do some studying of the subject myself. If anyone has any good sources, please pass them along! |
I took a semester-long class on this from my advisor, who's an expert on the subject. Our class website is here if you want to look at that. He also runs a newsgroup discussing the assassination (the link is on his site) and that website has links to just about everything ever discussing the assassination.

JFK did not shoot JR.
|
If you're looking for references the worst possible one is Oliver Stone's JFK. This movie is ridiculous and the attorney that Costner played has been proved to be a looney. The history channel did an excellent piece on the assassination with tons of physics experts that totally disproved any conspiracy theories that exist.

Conspiracy? Only the little green men in the black helicopters know for sure.
(I've seen the black helicopters) |

Here's what always baffled me:
Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot JFK from the 5th (or was it 6th?) floor of the book depository. Within 90 seconds he dropped the gun, took off down the stairs and ended up in the 2nd floor break room. What I also find odd is that there were secret service agents/security guards waiting on the 2nd floor and immediately after LHO entered the breakroom, they nabbed him, "knowing" it was him who shot JFK. They also report that he did not appear to have just run down 3 flights of stairs (i.e. out of breath, elevated heart rate). Maybe it would be better w/ visuals, but does anyone else see something fishy about this? |

Although I do think that there may have a conspiracy. My family has been friends with Dr. Cyril Wecht for too long to not believe in it! |

As newer evidence comes out in the open about the JFK assassination, I find it harder and harder to believe that this was a nefarious CIA/Mafia/Communist/(insert your favorite scapegoat) conspiracy. With modern investigative techniques, the 'magic bullet' theory as espoused by the Warren commission has been shot to hell - they forgot to take into effect the seat adjustments in the presidential limousine; once that's factored in, the bullet's trajectory straightens itself out... directly to the sniper's perch. It's beginning to look more and more like Oswald was the lone gunman, though who put him up to it is probably the real conspiracy. Most of us will be long gone when the truth behind JFK's assassination will finally be known. |
If the Warren commission gave the public all the facts then why would they seal the report for 75 years?
Did they seal the same report they gave us? That wouldn't make any sense. The sealed report obviously contains additional or different information that was not released. Why was that information sealed for 75 years in the first place? It sure wasn't sealed to protect Oswald. |

(I think I'm secretly turning into an assassination buff, don't tell. ;)) |
Today June 6th is the anniversary of the assassination of Senator Robert Kennedy.
I saw that History channel report and was pretty disappointed in it. |
Drive the route that the motorcade drove that day!
Anyone who knows anything about firing a weapon, especially a bolt action rifle at a down and away shot on a winding road with leafless trees blocking the shot, at @ 45 mph by someone who was an Ace Marksman firing at targerts of paper with sandbag lay down, well make up your own mind. Garrison was a nut, ? Still many questions not answered, aka, Lincoln, ( Oh, one of the most decorated Generals of WWII Patton) ,and RFK assinatitions? Jack Ruby and Oswald what a situation that was. Oswald killed by Ruby a low member of the mob who was friends with the Dallas PD and dieing by cancer. Kennedy screwing Marilyn along with Robert and JFK with Sam Gianconos girl friend, Marilyn dieing in a drug over dose. Strange happening there at her Cottge. Strange deaths of witnesses at JFK and many others who were involved. Is there still concerns, try the freedom of information act to get these papers and see what is blacked out! Do I still wonder, Hell Yes! We as Peons in our life time will never know for sure! |
Marina Oswald came and talked to my History class my senior year of high school. Our speech teacher is JFK buff, and belongs to one of those clubs that spend hours talking about it...a couple of them were there too. It was really interesting to hear her take on things.

I can see it now, "Dr. Pepper: #1 soft drink for assassins"
Not to mention Dr. Pepper purchases could be construed as evidence of intent. |

The autopsy photos are so awful - and what made them worse is in my class we looked and other gunshot wounds to the head, and then we watched a film of a goat getting shot in the head to see what happened. |
Only the Dr. Pepper bottling plant in Dublin, Texas still makes Dr. Pepper with pure cane sugar - the rest of the bottling plants changed over to cheaper corn syrup some time ago.
"Drink a Dr. Pepper at 10, 2 and 4." :) |
My dad worked for the Fort Worth NBC affiliate at that time and was in the basement of the Dallas jail to film the transfer of Oswald. He was interviewed by the FBI. He told me that the FBI seemed to think that the media was responsible for letting Jack Ruby into the area.
|
Interesting theory, but according to all the reports I remember from back then, Jack Ruby was well known to many in the Dallas Police Department, including many of those in the basement that day. In fact, one of the quotes from a detective standing right there was, "Jack, you son of a bitch."
Why seasoned detectives would allow a guy like that into that area is beyond me. |

You want to know something even weirder...Every member of the Warren Commision is dead. They all died within ten years. Except one member. He was made Vice President after the first VP quit and then Nixon resigned and he was Pres without even being in an election. Ford gives me the creeps.

Well most of them were OLD, though! That's a big thing we talked about in terms of mysterious deaths - most men high up in politics at that time were in the later stages of their life. |
