Anyone starting a new job/being promoted?
I am I am!!! I just got my MSW and I am being promoted within my agency. My first day is Monday June 14th. I am excited because I am going to make twice as much money and it is a mostly *fieldwork* position so I can plan my days how I want. I was offered some therapist positions in our outpatient mental health clinic and also at a hospital, but I don't want to be inside all day waiting for the client to come to me, and also, in those kinds of positions, you can't really do any referral/case management stuff for clients in severe need because as a therapist "you're primarily there to listen". I am also using this position as a "stepping stone". I hopefully one day will become a Director in this or a similar program :D Wish me luck:D

I am. I got a job within 2 days of turning in my last assignment. The guys I work for are great, but I'm just not happy with the work I'm doing. I got a job with a multinational financial institution as a website usability expert in their e-commerce division. It's EXACTLY what I went to graduate school to do, it's a 20% increase in salary, and a benefits package so robust that I almost feel like crying. :)
I start the new gig on June 28. |
Just started as a legal assistant.
|
I just started at Wal-Mart today! It's just a summer job...but I was getting desperate in my job hunt and I was soooo ecstatic when they called me for an interview, because I'm trying to save money for grad school.
|
11 days after graduating I was offered my dream job at an advertising agency. I am in media research and my day just flies. I started June 1st and couldn't be happier! I love New York! :)
|
I just got hired (this afternoon) as a Composition Instructor at ITT Technical Institute! I'm so excited. I start on my birthday...June 17.:D

After six months as a back waiter, I am finally being promoted to server. This will mean more money and another step to my final goal of being a wine steward.
|
Well it's 12:04 am which technically means it is today and I start my new position in a few hours. I am nervous excited happy :) I'll let ya all know how it goes!
|
i start today as a FULL time assistant at a realtor's office...
it's been a while since i last had a FULL time job, so lets keep our fingers crossed and hope i can make it through a FULL day! (The only thing keeping me going is the fact that it'll soon all be over once summer is done... i don't know how i'll ever make it in the real world!) :( |

I passed up a campaign position today- they wanted me full time as a Volunteer Coordinator for the Franker congressional race but I want to get through my schooling and I don't want to pass off on Phi Psi while we're colonizing.
3rd campaign position since spring break that I've passed up. |
I accepted a sales assistant position at a media marketing firm in Detroit yesterday :) My firm does television, they made it sound like I was over qualified for the position, but said they want me. They also pushed the fact that I can move into an account exec position in about a year :)
I start July 12th |
i am! I got the position I applied in Waterloo
ANND - my boyfriend got the position he applied for in Kitchener. Since Kitchener and Waterloo are adjacent cities (most people call them KW) we are SUPER EXCITED! We found out about it today! What conincidence! |
Re: Anyone starting a new job/being promoted?
Congrats on your new job. I've been at my company for over a year and right now I'm being eyeballed by the higher ups for an Assistant Vice-President job. Wish me luck. This is currently in the pipe and about 6 months down the road. Wish me luck!!! !

I got my first legitimate offer this week and I'm seriously considering it. I would be a marketing manager for a publishing company. Still have other interviews next week, but I really like the offer letter (employees get their birthdays as a paid holiday!) and I have never felt so comfortable talking to prospective employers.
It's a little cheesy, but as I've has tons of interviews in the past week and a half, I am reminded of my sorority recruitment. I've been keeping a little notebook filled with my thoughts about the places, I studied their company mission and histories, I've prepared questions in my head to ask and answer, and I've been able to stress what is most important to me (a positive work environment where I'm busy, I enjoy the people and the work and I have a good work and life balance). Well, again, being reminded of sorority life, the moment I walked into ABC company, I felt "at home"-- that these people were like me. So PNM's going through recruitment-- this experience will come back to haunt you later in life-- but in a good way! ;) |
I'm a waier. Waiter. Yeha
|
i should be hearing tomorrow about the position i applied for at a local vets office.
yeah that's right folks. i have a BS degree and i'm not using it. instead i want to be a secretary/vet assistant. something i can let go of at the end of the day. i don't want my job to consume my life. wish me luck! shelley j sigma k |
I am. I have to do work sheets and take quizzes. I'm a waiter. It sucks.
|

btw, i got called back for a second interview for the vet hospital job. they had me take a personality test. i should hear by the end of the week. also, i've decided to go back to school and get my vet tech degree. figure i might as well seeing as how that's what i want to do. shelley j sigma k |
Interview for one job next Monday and test for another one on Tuesday... I hope to get the second one but both pay better than my current one...
|
I have another job interview on 9/13 for a place in Manhattan. It seems like it will be a really nice agency to work for, is a quick commute and I like working with the populations the agency serves. Plus, if I do decide to leave my current agency in the near future, I would be able to stay on as a P/T or Per-diem employee so I could pick up extra $$$ that way.
|
I was offered a job to work full time in a group home for the developmentally disabled! The house will open in the end of September. I am so excited!! :)
|
I just started a new job last Sunday :) I work at our local TV station on the morning show and noon news. It's a lot of fun, but the hours suck. I have to be there at 4am, but I get off at 1. I'm also the only female besides one of the anchors, so it's interesting.
|
I start my new job on the 20th. I am a Watershed Ambassador for the Passaic River Watershed.
I took a job with Americorp/NJDEP because I was having trouble finding an env job that was worth it. So now I get to basically make my schedule for the next year, which is nice. |
I got a new job! Woohoo! I start October 4th at a pharmaceutical company here in Research Triangle Park working as Customer Support Coordinator for one of the drugs they manufacture. The pay is a lot better, the benefits are awesome and there are a lot of people my age. I am so excited!

new job, oh joy
I graduated APSU this past May and now I go to law school in Nashville and work at Nashville State Community College as the Information Center Supervisor. My moto: Don't ask me, I just work here! :D
Gosh, I really miss being in undergrad. |
Guess what!!!! I was actually approached by one of the big Directors in my agency today and offered a promotion!!!! It is for a Social Worker/Therapist position in our Assertive Community Treatment team. I told him I am really interested. They are planning to have me work there a couple days and in my current position a couple of days until they can find someone to replace me here, but it will be good to ease into the program and learn about it. It is really cool because I will be working directly with another Social Worker, a Psychiatrist and a nurse hands on with the clients.
|
I start a new job on Monday. A headhunter called about a month ago, asked if I would be interested I said he could send my resume over. I interviewed and got an offer. I really liked where I was, I had been there 5 years. But the new job offered a 10% raise, 10% annual bonus, and a profit sharing that average 12%--I really couldn't say no!
I am however getting nervous! |

Well I started my new position yesterday! I like it a lot. The only major difference besides it being more clinical and us being the actual "treatment" team is that the clients are much more agressive. Most of them can (and do!) become violent if they go off their meds. My first day yesterday I got to ride in the back of a cop car cuz we had to call 911 on a client who was becoming agressive. But we plan ahead too before we go to the client's home (ie. calling 911 before going into the home) so we never have to put ourselves in a dangerous situation. The Director also wants us to try to go out two at a time too so we are never alone. The client we had hospitalized yesterday, it was pretty scary because the EMT who showed up knows him pretty well from having to go there a lot. She said he kicked her once in the stomach and she also saw him punch the hospital Social Worker in the face one other time. Anyone else have experience working with violent clients?

last week i got a job offer to be a 4-H agent in one of the counties in North carolina, where i live. it's the position i really wanted, so i am very excited! i'm currently a reporter for a local paper, and it's just a temp thing, so i'm ready to get started on my other job. fyi for those who don't know what 4-H is, it's a youth development program that makes education fun and engaging. go to www.4-h.org (i think) or just type 4-H in the search engine and find out what 4-H is all about!
