Summer Vacations

Ok...summer is almost officially here! For those of you still in college- it arrived about a month ago!! I was just wondering where everyone is headed to this summer!!

I am heading to Dallas, TX (Carrollton) to visit my sister!!

AshleyPi 05-31-2004 12:07 PM

No summer trip for me unless you count IMPACT in St. Louis. I'm saving all of my money to go abroad to Russia.

GreekLetterGirl 05-31-2004 12:24 PM

Well I've gone on one so far and have about 2-3 more...

1- back to Oxford for a Wedding, than to Baltimore for a wonderful Saturday at the inner Harbor.

2- Going to Minneapolis in July to visit the boy at his work site. This one I am excited for because we're staying in a posh place in downtown MN and it's free!!

3- Wedding in West Chester that I am in late August.

4- there's talk of the boy and I going to the beach at some point so, we'll see.

adpi*violet 05-31-2004 03:23 PM

Well, let's see.... there is a wine fest in Freinsheim this Sunday. Berlin in the middle of June. Back to Colorado for best friend's wedding at the begining of August. Either Rome or Barcelona in September, back to Chicago in October for another wedding.....
and to London sometime before September before the Lion King stops playing.
That's just this summer. :)
Then there's the Swiss Alps for snowboarding, Disneyland Paris after New Year's with my family, the Greek Isles next spring, the Canary Islands at some point before we leave in Nov 2005, perhaps Egypt in there somewhere too?
hmmmmm......

I spent a weekend in Massachusetts for a wedding, and another weekend in New York with my boyfriend, his sister, and her fiancé (the boys planned a surprise trip for us!) and that's going to be it for me, unless someone surprises me with some awesome plane tickets for a graduation present. I'm not holding my breath. There are so many places I'd absolutely love to go, and I've had quite a few invites, but I need to buy some health insurance, and I can't even afford that right now.

well, i just got back from a 2 day trip to kinds dominion and busch gardens chaperoning middle school kids on a trip. (oh the things ill do to earn money for my semester abroad! (even though it will most likely pay for a new purse that ill just HAVE to have ;))
in 10 days i will be headed down to the ever so lovely west virginia to work at a summer camp i have been going to since i was 8 years old, and by the time i get back, i will probably have just enough time to relax before heading back to college park for spirit week!

polarpi 05-31-2004 08:41 PM

I'll be twittling mythumbs here in So Cal this entire summer....unless I can swing it to meet up with my diamond (and also Bri) in Phoenix late this summer, with a possible trip to Las Vegas since my diamond's mom told her that she thinks I'd be perfect for her older brother :D

Then a trip to Michigan in September for a wedding (with the potential side trip to Indiana and Ohio...maybe to meet a few ADPi GCers in the area ;) )

lonestaradpi 05-31-2004 09:07 PM

Wow, everyone else is going to have a fabulous summer! Mine will be great, but I won't be going anywhere wonderful. Tomorrow I will head to Kerrville (about an hour from here) for a week to orientate 20-25 college women to be camp counselors this summer.

I will then come back here and then head to visit my parents for a couple of days.

June 20, I will head to Kerrville again for my three week term. I will be a program director at a camp that I have been going to for 20 years.

I will then visit the parents again (to make them happy) and maybe get in a trip somewhere with Mr. Lonestaradpi (hopefully).

Ah, the joys of being a teacher, but of course I will probably end up going to school to do some work in my classroom for next year! It is never ending!

FirstAndFinest 06-01-2004 12:17 PM

I'm not planning to go anywhere this summer! Not even VLS!! We'll take day-trips to the Jersey Shore, and even Six Flags Great Adventure, but that's about it. We're saving to buy a house - and for a wedding!!!

CougADPi 06-01-2004 03:19 PM

I'm staying here in Pullman, working and helping Upsilon get the house ready for recruitment.

Then in August, I'm getting married!!!! So excited!

So then I get to go to SoCal for our honeymoon, then right back to Pullman to start getting ready for my Masters defense. Its an interesting summer to say the least!

HBADPi 06-01-2004 04:00 PM

Once finals are done next week, I'm making a brief trip back to Boston for 5 days then its back to so cal for pre-op and surgery.
End of June is my birthday so hopefully I'll have something fun planned AND I get to finally see the boy again after sooo long!!
End of July is back to Boston then trip to Pittsburgh in early August for a sister's wedding (hopefully meeting up with greeklettergirl too:)). I'd like to swing a trip to Vegas at some point too so I'm thinking once the boy has taken his bar exam (and hopefully passes) we can go away for the weekend...we'll see.

ASUADPi 06-01-2004 04:30 PM

So far the only thing I have planned is going to NC June 11th through the 21st. I am going to be meeting my little gc diamond, Katie, I am soooooo excited.

I am tentatively planning a trip to Ohio to see Andrea and Shannan but that just depends on $$$$ and if I can find a job.

Other than that, not a whole hell of a lot.

well my plans are still not definate...but here is the tentitive...

In July, I'm going to CO for my bf's family reuinion. His grandparents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary so everyone wants to party! Before that, there has been a discussion of going to Mexico or Seattle as our minivacation. David and I celebrate our one year anniversary this year (as bf & gf), so we want to do something just for the two of us.

Any ideas???

Thats about it. I am taking 9 hours this summer to get back to finishing my degree, so not much more can fit into my schedule as it is.

You should totally go to Seattle. That is where I grew up, and it is absolutely gorgeous in the summer (especially late July early August). There is tons to do with all the hiking and boating activities, plus shopping and cultural stuff. If you come at the end of July there is a large festival called Seafair in which the whole greater Seattle area participates. There is a mini-marathon, a parade, a milk carton derby (people make boats out of milk cartons and then race them on the lake) and many other fairs and events. (Can you tell I am partial to Seattle?!?)

Just a thought!! :D

Ok, well everyone else is having fun this summer think of me with nothing to do. We were going to take a family vacation to Williamsburg, but my grandpa doesn't know if he could drive that far and he would never let anyone else drive or fly. But, knowing him, he'll get a wild hair and we will end up in the Smoky Mountains before the end of the summer!! The only other thing I may do is go to my aunt's in Slidell (a hour from me) or back to my chapter in Lake Charles for Spirit Week (3 hrs) Woowhooo!! Wild summer for me!! I do have to go to Lake Charles this September when my best friend has her baby. Oh yeah, some friends of mine are all all going to get a hotel and do Bourbon St. in a few weeks. (Yes, my aunt is coming. She set us up.) Other than that, I am hoping to do nothing more than set up my very first class room. But I have to get one first!!

Early June I went to San Diego for the Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, and Uncle Kracker concert because we got the tickets then found out they were playing in Phoenix 3 days earlier.

July 8-11 San Diego again for a wedding and seeing my friend's growing family (Darcei gave birth a month ago.) Get to see my two nephews and meet my brother in law for the first time. I haven't seen Darcei since graduation day so we have lots of catching up to do

July 12-18 San Francisco for nauadpi's wedding

The rest of the time I can be found at Diamondbacks games and in Tucson counting down the days til I can go back to Flagstaff August 19

OMG, I am SO jealous! I *really* wanted to go to the concert, but unfortunately too many things piled up and there was no way I could afford the tickets.

Anytime you're in San Diego and have some free time, I'd love to meet you! :)

adpi1030787 06-28-2004 06:35 PM

Ok, so totally not fair!! My grandpa did just as I said he would and decided to got Disney World. My sister was driving to Florida to see her fiancee and he didn't want her to drive alone, so he decided to drive her and take them and my cousins to Disney World. The part that is not fair? I cannot go; I am going to have call backs for second interviews that week from a job fair I went to. I cannot afford to risk going and someone calling me to go for an interview. They cannot change the dates that they are going, because my sister had her trip already planned and her fiancee and her had already taken off from work. We have been bugging my grandpa to take us there for years and when he does, I can't go. I told him that next year my brother and I are going on his treat (my brother is in NY doing an intership for school) and he said, "Ok, that's fair." So, I will hopefully get to go next year!!
