Ladies, I am keeping this list of known screen names for members of Alpha Delta Pi on this site from now on. This list will also be on Pride Online.

Note: There will be times when you will be bidding against a sister! Please "play nice", and if the pin has a very special significance to you, let the other sisters bidding know about it. But remember, many people wait until the very last minute to "snipe" a bid, so there are no guarantees!

Sisters, we still need to compile that "known collectors" list, on the "double secret" site! Please feel free to PM me with any names, if you'd like.

ALSO, we have to decide what to do about those on our list who default, whether to take them off, or leave them on with some notation. Ideas?

My vote is for making a notation that they are in default. If they make good on their defaulted auctions, we can 'clear' their notation. I'm not concerned about slandering these sisters. We are not making a slanderous statement if it is a truthful statement.

As an avid eBayer and good Sister, I will try my best to not bid against a sister. Yet, if that sister isn't a good eBayer and defaults on her auction, she puts a black mark on our name. (Besides that, *I* may have wanted that item and b/c she's a sister, not made the winning bid!! :p )

My Ebay name is BBelle331.

I got an interesting email today, from a sister who is looking for her aunt's stolen pin, with which she was also initiated. There IS a filed police report on this, so I assured her that we will keep an eye out for it. This is the description she gave me:

"I am an initiated sister....Kappa Chapter at Samford University,
pledge class of 1981. I'm looking for the exact pin. It was my
aunt's - Linda Robertson and maybe her date of initiation (1960
or so??) are engraved on the back. It did have my chapter guard
(Kappa) and two officer dangles attached when it was stolen
from my house during a burgulary in 1989. It has alternating
pearls and aquamarines, and the chapter guard is plain gold
(10K?) without pearls or jewels."

This sister (the niece) has two teenaged daughters who she really hopes will also want to be initiated with this pin! :)

If anyone sees or hears about this pin, PLEASE let me know, and I'll pass on her email address. Remember, We Live For Each Other! Thanks, y'all!

Great idea. I tried to do the same thing on the Theta forum, (after I bought a pin via eBay and a theta thought I was an AGD), and it seems to have failed miserably.

:( One theta said that it was a "security risk" to post ebay names on a pubic site.

Dear Sisters, and especially to you, dear Honeychile,
Last night I tried to rescue a precious old pin from Ebay. It was from 1916, and I thought I had it. At the last 3 seconds a collector swept in and outbid me, and my fingers couldn't move fast enough to get it. I actually had tears in my eyes! What is the timing trick to those last few seconds bids? I feel like I let all of us down, you know?

Hey Queenmum,

Did you bid with very little time left? It may be that they had it set up to automatically bid for them everytime a new, outside bid was made. Or, they could just be really good at getting those last second bids in, and I can't really tell you how on earth they do that, but it's happened to me before as well, and it is a horrible feeling.

QueenMum - we've all lost an auction or two in the last seconds, so don't feel bad! There's a site called www.esnipe.com which will bid automatically for you, but I don't know all the details. I have a fatalistic viewpoint, that if I'm not supposed to win something, I won't. Maybe that sounds odd, but it works for me.


ETA: The fees for using esnipe are:

Winning Bid - Your Cost

Auction wins for under $25 - $0.25
Auction wins between $25-$1,000 - 1% of auction price
Auction wins for $1,000 and over - $10.00

I am new to GreekChat, but I wanted everyone to know that I rescued 3 pins on ebay this weekend. I put some old luggage in the trash many years ago and my original pin was in it. When I realized it, it was too late. Just for the heck of it I recenty looked up adpi badges/pins on e-bay and saw 4 just this weekend. I found one that closely resembled my original pin. The council does not make my pin anymore because it was back in 1995. I just do not understand why someone would want a pin for an organization that they do not even belong to.

Congratulations! Did you get the one with the blue topaz points? I had bid on the three, even though I knew I'd be away last weekend - then my laptop broke! I think it was the longest I went internet-free in a few years!
